You Are Very Welcome

It may take you a bit of time , but if you practice your fingers will get to "know" where they need to go without having your having to consciously think about it.

My MT school has a typing module and I read there in the module introduction that you will be amazed when the time comes where you see a word and don't think about each individual letter of the word as you type. You won't be thinking to yourself as you type , " W-O-R-D" you will think of the whole thing as one unit in your mind ,"WORD" and your fingers will automatically go to each letter in sequence without having to think about it! I have got to that point and it is truly amazing , almost a surreal feeling. There are still some words , mostly the longer ones , where I find myself slowing a bit and having to think about each individual letter in the sequence.

I think that learning to type must be much like learning to play the piano. When I was a kid just learning the piano keyboard and scales and such I was slow and made mistakes , hitting the wrongs keys. As I learned the location of the keys and finger positioning and sight reading things started to get easier , I made fewer mistakes and I was actually able to play songs.

I'm glad that you feel better about the typing and are going to give it a good try. Try not to get frustrated or discouraged if the going is slow at first. Allow yourself the privilege of making errors without feeling bad about it. You are just learning , so don't get down on yourself when you don't give the perfect performance. Those professional pianists you hear playing concerti to perfection practice them for months or years at a time before they can perform them flawlessly. I'm sure that you've already read the messages from those MTs here who type at 120-130 wpm and they tell you the same thing , "It takes time and practice."

Good fortune to you as you get started on your way.
