Sadaam Hussein as a Sunni B'athist would list his enemies in the following order:  Iraqi and Iranian Shias (remember the Iraq/Iran war?) and Sunni fundamentalists (Al Qaida). The idea that he would provide support or especially WMD to his enemies is ludicrous.  It's undebatable that he had WMD chemical weapons in the late 1980s.  It is well documented his weapon stores were destroyed in the 1990s after Desert Storm.  Even if you don't agree with that it is a stretch to suggest he would either have wanted to or been able to direct them at the U.S.  As for Syria, they have possessed WMD chemical weapons since before Iraq thanks to Russian support.  That's a whole other issue that requires skillful diplomacy on the part of the U.S. and Western allies.  These subtleties are something Barack Obama understands and John McCain (bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran) does not. The 18 generals lined up behind Barack Obama at the DNC understand.
