I did not vote for 4 years of socialism, but that is life.

I agree neither choice is great, but will vote McCain just as a vote against Obama. nm

I agree, Sam. Next, you will hear that socialism is

I couldn't agree more! (SM)

How about Caroline Kennedy for his VP?  It's definitely feeling "Camelotty" these days.

Remember the last time a US President chose the chooser of his VP?  (Hint:  They call him "Darth Vader.")

I couldn't agree more.

In my family alone I have German, Irish, and Indian.  I'm your basic Heinz 57.  I don't go around saying I'm a German-Irish-Indian-American do I.  No....I'm an American.  I'm proud of my heritage, but I'm an American.....period.

When it comes to the idea of a black president.....I'm all for it.....if it is the right person and Obama is not.  I'm all for a woman president but Hillary most definitely is NOT the one.

I couldn't agree more sm

You know, it's amazing how a REAL person, a woman no less, is on the ticket!

It's nice to see such a down-to-earth, likeable person be able to be on this ticket and not be part of the Washington machine.  Her husband has a blue collar job.  How many other candidates in recent history have been able to say that about their spouse?  She is a REAL woman, has a family with kids and gut instincts to boot.  I just think the whole idea of having a take-charge, no-nonsense state governor who knows how to use her noggin would be great for Washington and congress!

I couldn't agree more . . .
You and I are a minority on this board with this radical thinking, but I for one am ready for someone who honestly wants to do the right thing for the people -- not putting money into their cronies pockets!!!  It is beyond me that anyone after seeing the 2 debates in the last week would even consider voting for THAT TEAM!!  They scare me beyond anything that I have ever imagined!!  They are hate mongering, self-righteous, vicious, desperate dimwits who obviously have no clear-cut plan, but just mask their stupidity with hate-filled lies as a smokescreen for their ignorance.  The truly intelligent people in this country see through that bull!
Couldn't agree more........

Couldn't agree with you more!!

I couldn't agree with this more!
Those two men are heroes and shouldn't have spent one minute in jail.  Why did Bush allow this?  (It's just another example of why I will be glad to see Bush go.)
I couldn't agree more - it's very sad
To see a country that I served in the Army to protect and service. That I've worked my whole live (since 2nd grade working on a farm and later on to other jobs). My parents/grandparents taught me values, respect, honor, and duty. All of it is being eroded away. Some slick laywer comes in and promises everyone everything. He stands and lies to their faces and they keep following him. It is true that they say they are like sheep because they follow with no thoughts of their own. People will say, oh this has to be approved by congress or that has to be approved. Guess what Congress is now controlled by democrats. They will pass anything and everything produced by the O. You've got mafia type people now advising the O. He's promised them all something and they are demanding it, and not only in our country but our enemies too.

It just sickens me to no end that we did kiss America goodbye, and just a little over 1/2 the country feels this is okay. I too want my country back. Now just have to think of new ways to survive through the next 4 years.

However, I'm still waiting to hear about the outcome of all the lawsuits that are being filed (there are many of them) and he has to comply by 12/1 (I wouldn't even have given him that long - that's too much time to try to falsify a document - again). It also disgusts me too that so many people demanded to see McCain's bc, but they were okay with not having to see the O's. Certainly a different country than what I grew up in.
I couldn't agree more...

...with your post.  I am truly beginning to wonder what the point of voting is.  Is it just to fool the "masses" into thinking they truly have a voice?

I think a lot of Americans adamantly didn't want any more Bushes and didn't want any more Clintons.  I'm feeling somewhat betrayed by Obama and very unhappy with his appointments so far.

This isn't "change."  This is back to the same corrupt regime.

I couldn't agree more, but I just...
...hope that some "homegrown terrorist" doesn't prevent that from happening and/or Bush doesn't find a way to declare martial law indefinitely.  I just keep getting the feeling that something terrible is going to happen before January 20, something with Bush's fingerprints all over it.
I couldn't agree with you more. (sm)

I know what Vietnam did to my ex-boyfriend.  It's not just something that goes away in a few months.  It lasts a lifetime and can even affect future lives yet to be born.

Believe me, I share your anger, and I don't even have a relative who is in the military.  I hope your son comes home soon, safe and healthy.  My heart goes out to you, and if I could find a ((hug)) icon, I'd place it right here.

Well said...couldn't agree more!

Couldn't agree more. Also, . . .
it would be a wonderful cash crop for not only the obvious reasons, but all sorts of products can be made from the plant:  Paper, textiles, and even biofuels are just a few.
I couldn't agree more.

I personally feel that we have a lot of divorced parents and kids being raised by single mothers and these family values, etc. aren't being taught.  Kids see their moms and dads dating different people.  Woman having kids with multiple different fathers and men fathering many children by different woman.  This is what our kids see.  What else do we expect these kids to be when they are exposed to this stuff.  Some kids are taught that they can't be successful instead of telling them they can be anything they want to be.

I think that not only should good values, etc be taught at school but I personally feel that the parents need to wake up and realize some of the monsters they are creating here.  Too many parents rely on the schools to teach their kids things that the parents should be teaching them.  Why parents rely on schools to raise their children.....I will never understand that.

Then on the other spectrum you have the well off families who buy their kids everything they want without teaching them how to be responsible with money and these kids end up being some of the irresponsible ones we have to pay for because they were never taught to save money to buy stuff.  Instead it is credit cards, credits cards......buy now and hopefully have money to pay later.

I couldn't agree more! (sm)

What now feels like a lifetime ago, when I was in my 20s and still had all my "plumbing intact," I had menstrual problems to the point where I became anemic from always bleeding.

I was divorced, NOT in a relationship with anyone, and my OB/GYN prescribed birth control pills in order to try to control my cycle so I wouldn't bleed so much to help with the anemia. I don't know what I would have done if some pompous pharmacist refused to fill my prescription for those birth control pills based on his/her PERSONAL MORAL (and IGNORANT) beliefs, but if this person had done so, I'm sure I wouldn't have gone away quietly, because by refusing to fill a legal prescription from my physician, this person would have unilaterally sentenced me to an unhealthy life. (My imagination stops somewhere between my jumping across the counter and placing my hands around this person's throat.)

I do have to wonder, though, what would happen if a self-righteous pharmacist refused to fill a prescription for Viagra, Cialis, etc. In fact, I think I'd buy tickets and popcorn to watch that one!

Very well said. I couldn't agree more!

I couldn't agree with you more on

this one, Kendra.  If Obama truly wants to move on....then he should.  There are dems who had their hands in this as well and surely it will come out as well.  Pelosi is one who knew what was going on, even though she swears she didn't, and she never tried to stop it then.

I just think it is sad that our country is going after people who did what they did to save American lives and keep us safe.  I would much rather see this effort going into the politicians and the crooks at some of these banks, etc. who got loads of money before these companies collapsed.  What about the CEOs who walked away with millions of dollars right before their company failed and not only did we have to bail them out but they got away with loads of money.  Why aren't we going after those guys?  I would have more respect for our administration if they would do that, but I know they won't because too many people in our government got money from these same companies for their campaigns.  Corruption....pure and simple.  That is our government.

Very well said. I couldn't agree more.

couldn't agree with you more

wonder how long it will take obama to commit an actual impeachable offense.  i believe he has such a rubber stamp in congress that he can ram through just about any social program, any tax hike that he wants and it will all be perfectly legal.

a politican campaigns with *2 chickens in every pot* promises.  everyone knows he cannot deliver, but they vote for him anyhow, based on his stated intentions.  then he finds that he cannot make good on most of his promises and there's some grousing among those who voted for him, but all is eventually forgiven.  the situation we find ourselves in now is that he actually can make these promises come true, and it's a frightening prospect to anyone who believes in self-determination and individual liberty.

by the way, can we impeach a vice president?  biden is such a loose cannon that it's frightening to have him in the position of vp.  they need to keep a muzzle on him before he gives away the missile codes, or something. his latest gaffe, disclosing the location of the *undisclosed location* where the vp is sequestered in an emergency was actually a treasonous act.  any chance he will be prosecuted for it?

on the other hand, ridding ourselves of biden would put pelosi *a heartbeat away* from the presidency.  another frightening idea. what a pickle we've gotten ourselves into!

Couldn't agree more
They are really bringing a lot of support to their cause, aren't they? To gun someone down in church, I am sure that was what G-d wanted. Thou shall not murder, unless the person does something you don't like.
I couldn't agree more.
She was completely brain dead with no hopes of recovery whatsoever.  Keeping her alive like that, in my opinion, is selfish.  I think her parents were selfish in wanting her to stay alive like that.  Sometimes you have to let loved ones go.  My father was a DNR and when he coded in the hospital, we all just stood there because that is what he wanted.  We let him go and although that was the hardest thing I've ever had to live through in my whole life, I don't regret doing what I know he wanted.  It was his time and we let him go.
Oh Lurker, I couldn't agree more!

Something wicked this way comes, and we are in the middle of it. Oh yeah, I have been likened to Chicken Little, the sky is falling, blah, blah, blah, but I am cognizant of the falsities this administration would like us to believe, and although I am of average intelligence, not presidential material, am educated enough to know that they, WHOMEVER THEY ARE, were going into a HORNET's NEST in IRAQ, also going to make more TERRORISTS. Also, with my average intelligence, I knew enough to know that Hussain was keeping his people under control, and that NO terrorists would be stupid enough to make trouble or reside in Iraq.  He was master.  So he killed 30,000 people, maybe a little more.  How many have the BUSHWACKERS KILLED!?  Yes, of course, I'm upset with him and his cronies.  He has made AMERICANS LOOK STUPID, DISHONEST and MURDEROUS and no more humanitarian, maybe even less so, than Saddam.  At least Saddam had his reasons to kill his people.  What are HIS reasons for the killing?  Have not heard any that make any sense!  That is my take on the whole thing.  Plus the useless FEMA of the Katrina disaster, and on and on and on.  No time to spell it all out.

D@mn skippy!....couldn't agree more!

I couldn't agree more with your opinion

seems like it makes him almost the perfect president to be able to understand and empathize with a much wider range of American citizens than any president before him.  He's inclusive, not exclusive, and he's certainly more tolerant than many posters on this board, thank GOD!

Excellent post and very well said. I couldn't agree with you more. nm
nm
I couldn't agree with you more!! I'm voting McCain for the same reason. nm
x
Agree, I did not vote for O either, but if he keeps
nm
I agree! I can't decide who to vote for because there is so much bad on both of them (sm)
I am going to decide who I dislike more and vote for his opponent. Very sad. Terrible choices.
I agree with PegPeg. We need to vote with our
conscience, vote for which candidate is closest to your values. Neither one fits the bill to a T for anyone, there has to be a little give and take. I am willing to give either one a chance to try to change this mess we are in right now. The great thing is, in 4 years if we don't like what we have we can change again. Whoever wins is getting into a big mess, which has taken years and years to create from both sides. No one side is totally to blame and the finger pointing, name calling, etc, has taken our eyes off of the real issues at hand. I just hope those who decide to vote do it from a well thought out decision rather than an emotional decision.
I did not vote for Obama, nor do I agree...sm
with most of the issues he stands for, but this is just plain CRAZY!
I agree. Now in all honesty, although I did vote
all these darned bailouts. I doubt they'll succeed in the end, and we'll be right back where we started, only a few hundred-billion bucks poorer. I think the so-called 'economy' (i.e., making money in a dishonest and/or risky manner), which was basically based on what for all intents and purposes amounts to GAMBLING, should have been allowed to die a natural death. More painful initially, but for a shorter time. All this bailout sh1t is gonna do is just drag this all out well past O's term(s) of office, and into the next, and the next, and maybe even the next. The current way of running the country's finances (and the way many of us are running our own) just didn't work. There's got to be a better, fairer, and more honest way for the wheels of business to turn and for a country to prosper.
I agree. Nobody vote for Bush this year.
Problem solved.

I agree with change....change to socialism...
NO THANKS.
A vote for Ron Paul is a wasted vote. No chance on Earth he can win. sm
Votes for him only take away from the real candidates.
Good point. I don't vote party, I vote for the
person.  Every Democrat is not bad and every Republican good or vice versa.
Then you need to vote for Obama. A vote for McCain will...sm
not help you. Obama wants to give tax relief to 90% of Americans who earn 1% of the gross earnings in this country. The top 1% of earners bring in 90% of earnings. Any one person who earns $250,000 or less will benefit from Obama's tax plan.
they didn't vote - they registered to vote -
that is a big difference. The votes were not counted, they were stopped by the means in which they were supposed to be stopped - ID verification, address verification, etc. The cards were filled out by the ACORN workers and then given to the proper authorities to sort through.

The phony registrations were pulled out by the actual authorities. ACORN is just a middle man.
We get what we vote for. If we vote "party", we get extremes.
If we make it a point to try to identify candidates who hold moderate views and vote for them, rather than voting a "party ticket", we'll have a better chance of getting away from these extremes, whether right or left.

One of the problems, though, is that candidates often play games with their real positions. During the primaries, they talk the "party" line and then they move to the center for the general election. Both sides do this, unfortunately.

The only hope is to look at their past records - and take them seriously. History is prologue to the future. When a man has done certain things in his adult life, it tells us more about him than anything he says. If Obama hasn't taught us this fundamental truth, we'll never learn it. The evidence about him goes all the way back to his days in law school, and it was available for anyone to see. Some didn't bother to look. Others looked and didn't take it seriously. Either way, we weren't paying attention or he'd have probably never made it through the primaries.

No one can pull the wool over your eyes unless you let them, and the way they do it is by making smooth speeches filled with unlikely promises (and even glaring contradictions as they appeal to groups with opposite interests). They believe we won't notice the lies, exaggerations and mischaracterizations of their opponent's positions, etc. Unfortunately, they are often right.

Let's start taking the candidates' prior records and their life histories as the best evidence of who they really are - not their speeches. If we do this, we'll make better choices.
Socialism
AMEN!!!
The era of socialism
With the bailout by the US government, each and every one of us will be mortgage lenders to the tune of $7000 per taxpayer.  We will officially be socialists, brought to you by your favorite political party the REPUBLICANS.
what's so bad about socialism?
bring it on!
You won't get socialism. That is #1....
and frankly my greatest concern with Obama.

McCain is the only one talking about reforming Washington, freezing spending except in crucial programs until we get out of this mess...he is talking about more affordable health care, not government controlled health care. Yes, Obama says you can keep your employer insurance and if you can't, the government will take care of you. HOw long do you think employers will be able to offer insurance under Obama's socialist agenda? Not long, because he is increasing taxes on them. And not accidentally either. One step further down the road to socialism.

And I am ready for naming names and showing some responsibility. Unless Obama is an id*ot, he knows that Dodd and Frank are up to their eyeballs in this mess. He should call for their resignations. THAT would show character, which seems to be important to you. The democratic leadership instead PRAISE them for their roles in engineering this bailout. That to me is a total LACK of character. McCain called for the resignation of the Republican involved...Chris Cox. THAT is character.

I see absolutely nothing but a downhill spiral in an Obama administration. The USSA. Venezuela north. NO thank you.
Not only socialism....

he is not even President yet and his campaign and followers are practicing big-time intimidation.  That reporter in Florida had the guts to ask Biden a hard question, the campaign says no soup for you!  Cancelled the rest of the scheduled interviews.  Said they would not be given access in an Obama administration.  A maxed-out contributor to Obama's campaign ordered a background check on Joe the Plumber...just an average American who asked Obama a hard question.  People have been threatened when they say anything negative about him.  What are these people going to do if they get REAL power?  Food for thought.

socialism

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society.

So it's okay to consistently call Obama a socialist and not Palin?  Do you even look this stuff up or is that just you being Mavericky?

socialism

An economics professor at Texas Tech University , Lubbock , TX said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. The majority of that class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism.

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the first test the grades were averaged, everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too, so they studied little. The second Test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for anyone else.

All failed to their great surprise and the professor told them that socialism would ultimately fail because the harder to succeed the greater the reward but when a government takes all the reward away, no one will try or succeed.

When You Reward Failure, All You Get is More Failure!

Viva socialism!!

if you're going to make a statement gt don't beat around the bush.  Just come right out and say it.

I'm sure they would welcome you with open arms.
