Couple of things I have noticed:

It seems the wording is always the same in O's responses. Every project or agenda on his mind always is at a critical point and must be dealt with now, but the situtation in Iran - wait and see? Everyone seemed to want to know what O was going to say and my first thought was: Where is the UN?

Actually there were a couple things to add - (sm)
'Change', as I would like to see it, would also include a new U.S. President who was not hated by the rest of the world's inhabitants and leaders, nor mocked and ridiculed. Instead, it would be a President that took the time to listen when other world leaders were speaking, and who in turn others would listen to when he or she was speaking.

Our new President would be someone who put some thought into when and where to send U.S. aid when it was needed abroad, and when NOT to. That same President would not turn away when people or cities (such as New Orleans) needed help during a disaster.

I would also like to see this country start to treat its animals better than it currently does. Larger and better-run animal shelters, and more education and effort put into spay-and-neuter programs. Why there is no mandadory spay/neuter law on the books for household pets is beyond me, but judging by the overcrowded shelters, rescues, and pet-ads on Craigslist, maybe it's time. And although I'm not a member of PETA, nor a vegetarian, I think that animals who are raised for our consumption, who in essence give their lives for us in the end, need their days on Earth to be far better than they currently are. They should live happily and non-squalid conditions while they're alive, and when the time for slaughter finally comes, it should be quick, painless, non-traumatic & humane. And I would like to see our government start to lean on other countries which treat their animals HORRIBLY, China being one of the worst.
2A couple of things here. If you are an MT, you should know
If you ever attended a high school American/English literature class, you may recall a fairly extensive study of the concept of metaphor. Intelligent, gifted writers and speakers often use them to describe, illustrate or define. Obama is using metaphor here, as he often does.

Another concept taught at that level of language study is the notion of CONTEXT. You do recall that, don't you? McCain supporters have an adversion to context and have an almost universal compulsion to ignore context and often skew / slaughter Obama'statements by lifing them out of context and manipulating parts of his messages by placing them in a new "McCain" context. That is what you are doing here.

If you are feeling too lazy this morning to visit the dictionary, here is a link:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/epiphany
1. (initial capital letter) a Christian festival, observed on January 6, commemorating the manifestation of Christ to the gentiles in the persons of the Magi; Twelfth-day.
2. an appearance or manifestation, esp. of a deity.
3. a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.
4. a literary work or section of a work presenting, usually symbolically, such a moment of revelation and insight.

Entry #1 indicates this term to be a Christian concept. It is really comical when on the one hand McCain supporters vow and declare that Obama is a Muslim terrorist, but on the other hand attack him for his close mentoring by as association with Christian Jeremiah Right, making him a Muslim AND Christian at the same time. However, your more recent predominating theme is that Obama is a Moslem. Since you guys insist that Obama is not a Christian, he could not possibly be referring to entry #1. That also makes reference to entr #2 unlikely, especially since that meaning of the word is typically encountered in Christian eschatologic bodies of work or discussions as such.

Your attention is drawn to enties #3 and 4. In commonplace everyday discourse, those are the meanings that are most often used. Epiphany in this context means perception or inspiration. Inspiration is what Obama provides for his supporters. Hope and change. Nothing particularly new or controversial there.

Actually he was right about a couple of things
believe it or not.  Wasn't he also the one who said Obama didn't have enough experience to be pres?  LOL.
Sorry.....you know me....have to take issue with a couple of things...
Number one being this mess we created. It just chaps me for people to blame the US, especially US citizens, for this so'called *mess*. Fatah and Hamas have been fighting over Palestine as much as Israel and Fatah and Hamas have been fighting over Israel, and that was going on LONG before we went into Iraq. What is happening there is not fueled by Iraq at all. What is happening there is now is being fueled by Iran, and don't think for a minute it is not.

I agree with what you said about bin Laden and Saddam as far as their ideals being diametrically opposed...however, bin Laden saw something in him that he needed...power and money and the ability to move both over the world, and crazy enough to buy into attacking the United States in a spectacular way. Iran did not want any part of that, because nutty as Amadinejad is, he did not want to be taken down like Saddam was taken down. Bin Laden is crazy like a fox...he will use anyone or anything, no matter WHAT their politics are, if it furthers HIS goals. Sorry, ravenswing, I think it is naive in the face of all we know about Saddam and his support of terrorism and his infliction of same on his own people, the fact that the Achille Lauro murderer lived out his days in Baghdad, that Zarqawi was there for at least a year before we went in, bounties to families of suicide bombers and on and on and on....just because they had different religious ideals meant nothing, because they had one common thing...they both hated the United States and all she stands for.

And the comparison of fear of Russia invading and the threat the terrorists pose....I am sorry, I truly see nothing similar. 9-11 changed all that...forever.

I never said terrorists in full force. I said car bombings...train bombings...subway bombings...tunnel bombings...dam bombings...suicide bombers in schools, malls, supermarkets, restaurants, sporting events....that can be carried out by a handful of men, just like 9-11 was, with death tolls in the hundreds to thousands and the ability to forever change life and freedom the way we know it in this country. In short, live like Israel has had to live for decades. I believe in order to forestall that we have to adopt the attitude if they hit us, we hit them harder and at the source...the funding...the support, the Saddams of the world. The lackies who kill themselves are not the ones we need to target. And I believe that is why we have not been attacked yet. Because they know we will fight back. But once they sense weakness, and sorry to say to me that means a liberal in the White House...they will go for the throat, because that is what animals do. And the fact that they are willing to die for what they want and a great number of Americans don't feel like there is anything worth dying for...could very well be our undoing. There are worse things than having your head cut off...among them fear of going into a supermarket, a mall, a train, a plane, a bus....a hospital...a school. Think about that for a moment. Think about hearing every day about a suicide bombing somewhere in this country, a car bombing, a school bombing...just think about it.

I know I have a future to look forward to where there is no war, no pain, and pure love rules the day....but not in this life, not in this world. But I am in this world now, and in this life I feel I am charged to try to support, defend and preserve the only country in the world founded on Christian principles. Had we not strayed so far from our beginnings...who knows where we would be now? But, I also know...everything...EVERYthinghappens for a reason and God is in control. As my pastor and friend used to say....It is getting gloriously dark. I finally understand what he meant by that.
God bless!
A couple of small things...
Intolerance is not something I associate with being liberal. Perhaps I need to adjust my thinking.

My compassion extends to all those hurting and in need, just like yours does. However, as you well know and seem so jaded by, one person cannot focus on every area, every part of humanity, every issue. You must choose your issue and throw all your energy into it. I would say that the anti-war arena is pretty well covered, wouldn't you? The anti-abortion arena, however, is not. And that is where I am moved to place my focus. Because there are people affected by war who CAN speak for themselves. They DO have the ability to at least try and protect themselves. Unborn children do not have that luxury. They are totally at the mercy of others, and if you want to talk about a horrendous way to die...there is no more horrendous way to die than being aborted. In a way, it is the ultimate betrayal if someone does not defend the most vulnerable among us. That is why I chose that issue and that is why I will speak out against it with my last breath.

You call me supercilious, yet post something like the nature of conservatism to have lack of empathy? A rather broad brush stroke I would say. How you can criticize something else for having no empathy and turn your back on the unborn...there is NO balance in that to see.

There is no spin, piglet. The facts are obvious. You have chosen to exclude the most needy and vulnerable and even go to the extreme of being highly critical of me for doing so. No spin there.

It is obvious you call things the way you perceive them, and have intolerance for any who do not agree with your perception. Again, that is not a trait I associate with liberals. And again..perhaps I need to adjust my thinking.

No one is asking you to apologize, piglet. These last few posts...amazing. If it were aimed AT liberals I would swear it WAS Ann Coulter. Especially the "I call things the way I perceive them, I don't sugar coat it and I won't apologize for it." VINTAGE Ann Coulter. :-)
I have heard a couple different things
I've heard that there could be 3 different scenarios regarding McCain.
1. He's remains in the race and is elected.
2. Republicans know that he will have a hard time winning, so they will sometime either before or at the convention just replace him with another republican candidate and claim his health is poor.
3. Bush will just declare martial law and remain in office.

IMHO - either way this is quite a scary election year. I don't support either candidate so am not voting this year. I just think the whole election is scary and both candidates I don't trust because it's hard to believe either one cares anything about the american people. Well I think Obama cares more about the American people than McCain does, but you gotta think about the people who are running Obama and what they want and they are the ones who don't care about the American people.
I see a couple decent things and especially

like this one:

"The measure also contains a provision denying lawmakers the automatic cost-of-living pay increase they are due next Jan. 1."

We shall see if that happens.

I agree with a couple things you say - see message
I stopped coming to the board for awhile for a couple reasons. First, I got way behind on my work (shame on me). Second because I keep going back between voting for JM, then BO, then JM, then BO, etc. Everytime I hear something new about one or the other I decide to switch, so rather than look the fool and write good or bad on one thing I just stopped. I do not believe people hate Obama. It's more like we are afraid of what will happen to the country if he gets in. And yes we are also concerned what will happen if JM gets in too, but more afraid of BO (BTW - I think I will be voting for the constitutional party). I don't like either choice and I think they are both bad for the country.

I do agree with you that I feel like I'm in school again with people fighting with you but not offering any solutions. And you know what - it's more of the Obama supporters that are bashing the McCain supporters. I know people don't want to hear that because I find more people who are democrats live their life in the "victim state" and like to always blame the republicans for everything bad that's happened and will never look to their own party. I truly believe it is Franks, Cox, & Dodd who are a lot to blame for what has happened economically, but it is easier to bash Bush because it happened while he was in office, but honestly this is not his fault whether you want to believe that or not. Also it isn't McCains fault either because he warned everyone 2 years ago. Also, I haven't read any of the posts, but I found out yesterday that Franks was boyfriend to one of the top people at FMFM that got a big kickback.

So, at this point I'm getting to the point where I don't care who is president. Whether it is McCain or Obama I will continue to get up each day, brush my teeth and work (hopefully).

But you know what is ugly to me on this board is the people who defend McCain are being bashed by the Obama supporters and then they turn around and say they are being picked on (again their stuck there in the victim mode).

Everyone is allowed their opinions, but don't bash the other side and then say poor me, we're being picked on and then call the other side intolerant and ugly.
typo - meant cite things as hoax, not "site" things
Just thought I'd correct that before I get pummeled by the people who want to believe snopes is a truthful organization.
You noticed that, too, huh? NM

I noticed
I know..guess we are winning.....YIPPEE!!
Have you noticed?

that people on the conservative board are accusing liberals of thinking their (sic) winning because there are more posts on their board than there is on ours?   It's like saying I have more friends then you do...nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.

I agree it's stupid.... just as stupid as it was when the very same poster did it several months ago.

Hey their board is boring!!! sm - MT

on our board compared to there's.   They aren't happy unless they are reprimanding us or calling us stupid, misinformed, hicks....and the list could go on and on.   The numbers speak for themselves.

Have you ever noticed
Just wondering - have you ever noticed that whenever anything is being said that is not favorable and makes Obama look bad it always "taken out of context". Then you've got McCain singing "bom#, bom#, bom# Iran" or other really weird stuff and that's okay. I think the whole country is going "whacky".
You must not have noticed...
...Gov Palin doesn't use a teleprompter. She also thinks well on her feet, and is an outstanding speaker, without all the "Ums" "ers" "you knows" etc....

I say she'll trounce him.
I have definitely noticed how

both presidential candidates are not the greatest speakers.  With Obama's uhs and McCain's creepy pained looking smiles.  LOL!  Neither one of them really do much for me in the way of speaking ability.  That is one thing I have to give Bill Clinton credit for......he could deliver a speech really well.

Yes, I noticed this...
you are really fast, a devil typist, and 99% accuracy, amazing! Good for you.
Go, Obama.
gas is all i have noticed nm
x
Yes, I noticed that about you.
Your posts from even as recently as a week or 2 ago. That's why I wanted to respond to you.

Is your concern mostly for your personal situation or for the country as a whole? I think it is helpful to remember to include the media among the "not one person alive" with experience gang. They contribute a great deal to the fear factor and the more you immerse yourself in that dialog, the worse you will feel.

A few points to ponder. We are about to emerge from 8 years of W and are still standing. This in and of itself is a source of comfort for me, knowing that we have had the strength to endure that assault on our way of life (in my opinion). All the gloom and doom you are feeling is a direct byproduct of that era.

I also am encouraged that we have elected a leader who had the wisdom and judgment to manage to succeed in becoming the first black POTUS by ae 47. He correctly assessed the country as "being ready" for this giant step forward, set and stayed a course under the stormiest conditions and came out on top of it all. What he did was HUGE and I believe we have the very best person we could have at the helm. I do not believe he has come as far as he has only to become "more of the same."

If anyone is able to create opportunity out of adversity, embrace innovation, identify common cause, mobilize broadly diverse populations, promote progress, advance goals and get the job done, it would be him. Should we all fall on hard times, you must take care of yourself first, then in turn help others in need and summon up as much courage, hope and faith as you are able to find within yourself. We are all much stronger than we know and perhaps this is our time to test ourselves and rise to the challenge.

I noticed that too. nm

Have you not noticed what's not being said?

It has gotten eerily quiet among the O lovers about those wonderful tax cuts they were promised.  Obama signed 5 executive orders in 3 days and NOT ONE about tax cuts for them!  Amazing!  Instead, he has INCREASED their taxes now to the tune of who knows how much..........  notice how all those who really believed they would get a tax cut have not spoke about it at all.  They will never admit they are sitting quietly and wondering where that promise went.

All the phone calles to the white house are saying "TAX CUT" not tax increase. WOW.....not at all what Obama is reporting on his democrat-only little meetings before the cameras where he keeps assuring them the American people WANT the stimulus package.... why isn't he reporting the truth, which is we are being bombarded with phone calls which say we don't want my stimulus package.

Have you noticed
Have you noticed that Hillary looks like she's having a blast in her job. She may not be respected by the other countries, but she just smiles through it. I'll bet with all that Obama is going through I'll bet she's saying...phew! glad I didn't get into (inherit) that mess. :-) Poor Obama, I feel so bad the stress must be so bad as he's already turning gray/white. Usually that takes a couple years. Poor guy.
GT I've noticed something
the more you get your hackles up your limited vocabulary becomes that much more limited.
I have noticed this trend..
starting about Katrina time. A lot happened at the same time, Katrina, over 2000 dead, CIA leak, erroneous intelligence, gas prices, etc. etc. I have felt that even on my side of the street that there just is not much to say...it's all being exposed...for myself it is a confirmation that what I have believed all along seems to be true and for conservatives, I would guess they are staying on other boards, those that are extremely partisan in nature simply because it would be very difficult to defend much of what has taken place recently and from the get go. In 2004 I was very frightened that this country could not take 4 more years of George W. Bush but I had NO IDEA the enormity that prediction would take on. The whole thing is extremely mind-boggling and frightening.
Never noticed that before. Not that it means anything of course.....
but it IS freaky. lol.
I noticed the same thing, sam.
This smacks of hypocrisy to me and shows none of them care for us, they only care for the party they belong to. I am getting more and more bummed out with the majority of these people, and not impressed at all with the mainstream media who act like they are in a feeding frenzy, nor the people attending who seem to be exhibiting signs and symptoms of mass hysteria. I know they heard the same things I have heard as you already have posted. Wow. When Pelosi stated she would straighten this out (obama or hillary), I figured they could just skip the entire expense of this convention and have everybody text message instead. This is getting more and more to have an American Idol flavor to it! I can hardly wait for next week. Pass the popcorn and crackerjack. I already know this year I will probably vote a straight ticket which I have never done. This is primarily a dem county and if I don't have a problem with the local positions, I vote for them, but I don't want the entire senate, house and Pres to have total dem rule. Come to think of it, that goes for the republicans, too. There was a reason this was set up this way.
So you noticed that too. Sam somtimes
Enjoy it while it lasts.
Yes, I also noticed this too today. Not sure if I saw this before or not.
Could be a sign of a stroke or somethin if it was not there before. Would have to look at previous pics of him from a few days ago or so to see if it was there. Hope not. Do not wish that on anyone.
A little twitching too I noticed. nm
.
Haven't you noticed?
The posts about your so-called disaster sat up there all day yesterday and elicited next to nothing in the way of response. Noise on Focks and related subjects, like alien spaceships, come from the parallel universe and hardly qualify as real news. The only interest you will see there will be coming from the zombies marking lock-step behind the propaganda machine.

I noticed that myself. Yet during the campaign,

did he bring up his father at all? I don't remember him doing that. Now that he is the prez, he brings up a father he only met once or twice?

But face it, it was a half decent speech. If half the people that were there listen and learn, it would be worth it.

I never noticed that before.....can't remember a Mr.
a Mr Clinton, Mr. Carter, Mr. Ford, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Regan, Mr Nixon Mr. Kennedy.  I do remember from time to time a Mr. Bush towards the end of his term,  which surprised me...   Maybe it's because  I didn't pay as much attention to the news in those days.  Oh well, learn something every day.
I've noticed that too!
Other than the occasional pathetic attempt to poke fun at Palin or to bash Bush, the O supporters have been strangely silent. I guess there's not much to say when you're in the path of that approaching train wreck.

That's the one word I noticed. Look into my eyes...
Follow me and you will be granted three wishes...but not before I publish my next book, sit down with terrorists and chat, be romanced by the mainstream media (oops I hope I don't get punished with a baby), and mark myself as present in the Oval office all while I am working on padding my pockets on some dirty Rezko deal.  I could go on, but, well, you know, I am so modest.
I do not believe anyone is trying to start a rumor. Just something we noticed.
and hopefully it is nothing serious. but it was noticeable.
I have noticed that the closer we get to Tuesday -

The closer we get to the actual election day, the less the republicans are talking about their plan and how it would be better and shifted their focus entirely to talking about how bad Obama is and how horrible his plan would be.

I also seemed to notice that a few weeks ago when McCain left Obama out of it for a couple of days and focused on the real issues that he started gaining in the polls.  It seems to me if the campain cannot even understand that the issues are what people want to hear about and run a campaign based on the issues, then how can you expect them to be able to run the United States of America the way it needs to be run?

Have you noticed how the stock market goes up
or how the media has been fueling that engine by pushing and pushing and obsessing over the cabinet appointments in search of dirt to dig up on them?

Obama has been trying to give voters a little reassurance, but I supposed lots of folks will find something wrong with that too.
Noticed Fox covering mostly, others ignoring
for the most part. From what I noticed on Fox the crowd seems to be extremely small. Some talk on Huffingtonpost about tea bags not being able to be dumped where they wanted them to go and now truck driving around with all those bags. I think this was mostly a big to do about nothing really.
Yeah, I've noticed that. (sm)
Didn't make me laugh, though.  Sometime the truth isn't all that funny.
I guess you haven't noticed...(sm)

that our national guard has been deployed in record numbers to the middle east.  So, if our regular military is over there and our national guard is over there, who do you think is providing security here?  If by chance we were actually targeted and invaded right now, exactly who would be fighting them off?  You need to get over the fearmongering and look at the numbers.

I noticed that Druge and AOL had wayyy different numbers
so there
Has anyone noticed Republicans are getting nastier and angrier?

I find that I have to avoid people that used to be normal and happy.  They are absolutely vicious right now.

Have you noticed that you get that message with almost all the Obama videos??? nm
nm
I just noticed your post above. Nice adherence. nm

Opps! My bad. I never noticed the mispelled word.
Thanks for correcting.
I noticed that when I posted 'al-Harmony'
Yup, there's a Web crawler at work here selecting our ads.
No one knows what went on with this couple...
before he left. I am sure that was not the only couple who a man returning from the service divorced upon return, or women who divorced men who were over there serving. His ex-wife maintains that they are still close and apparently she does not hold the sour grapes personally that the public seems to hold, who were not involved and do not know the intimate details. It doesn't seem really fair to post things like this when the whole story is not known.

This is what McCain's ex-wife said about him:
"I'm crazy about John McCain and I love him to pieces," Carol McCain told the New York Times, "but I'm just not going to do interviews."

She does not sound bitter to me.
In the last couple of weeks,

I've received several envelopes in the mail that were sealed with a few inches torn open at the top of the envelope.  One of them was a check from my part-time employer, and it was easy to see through the envelope that it was a check folded in half.  (At least they didn't remove the contents like they did with you.)

I've never experienced anything like this in my life, and I wonder if this has been happening to any other liberals out there.

LOL. You forgot a couple....sm
911 gone bonkers brigade (one from Charlie Sheen after he got attacked)and Mike Malloy's - yes, I am a liberal and I shall eat your eyeballs.

A couple of questions...
what proof do you have that the war has anything at all to do with oil...and what do you mean...you "bought" your patriotism?  "Served it?"  Curious as to what that means.  And ya know...I have been kinda tired for YEARS as the terrorists picked off our people by the hundreds until they hit the big one on 9-11 and took out 3000 at one time.  Just wondering if you think that was worth fighting over.  Just wondering.  If not...what?  When they kill 8,000?  10,000?  How many will it take?  Just wondering.  How much innocent blood will have to be spilled here to get you as angry at the terrorists as you are at conservatives?  Just wondering.....
A couple notes
Ty Sam for your unbiased comments. I understand you totally - just bringing up issues you have heard.

Here's a couple things I understand about the situation.

Bill & Hillary were trying to file this petition, but not until after she started losing. It ranks up there with the "Florida fiasco" she created but then tried to overturn. In fact I believe they were trying to claim he was born in Kenya at the same time they said Florida didn't matter and agreed to not count Florida until they were losing, then they decided they wanted their votes (unfortunately it was a little too late for them). Bill & Hillary were (are) so desparate to get back into the white house that they were grasping at anything. I think it was ruled that Barack was born in Hawaii (not Kenya) according to the birth certificate. Which I'm sure had to be verified before he would even be eligible to run. My gut feeling is that Bill & Hillary were trying to get a lot of people to believe that he was born in Kenya so they would vote against him. Luckily for Barack their "plan" didn't work. It would have been devastating for him to lose based on a lie put out by the Clintons mis-informing people just so they could win (as I read that I just realized that is what campaign ads do. They put out lies about their oponents - both sides). Anyway...heard it was overturned and his birth certificate does say he was born in Hawaii. Also, like the other poster said if your born to American citizens but are born outside the US (like the military in Germany) you are still considered a natural born citizen.

On a side note, I heard Gov. Ed Rendell talk and for the first time I finally agree with him on what he was saying. For the first time he finally made statement that were rational. I do know that he was big big big Hillary supporter and spoke out against Obama when she was running against him, but yesterday or the day before I heard him talking and he said that Obama was clearly qualified and would make a fine president, blah, blah, blah (can't remember the whole speech). He went down the list of things he doesn't think McCain is good at and why he would not be a good president, and went down the list as to why he felt Barack was the best candidate. So for him to do a total turn around I gained a little respect for him.
