I am Obama girl and I think she meant

nothing by saying "it." It could mean democratic way. Give her the benefit because seeing how it was used, she meant nothing but that.

If Obama gets elected, then it was meant to be! Go, Obama!
nm
As a matter of fact, I do know what Mrs. Obama meant...
all you have to do is do a little research. Read the papers she has written. She was dead serious in what she said and she meant it..and the only reason she is proud of America now is her husband is running for President. People need to try to see through the spin. She has had the same feelings for years, they run deep, in she AND her husband. That is why they stayed in Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years, unless you buy the ridiculous story that they went there for 20 years and never heard a "sermon like that." Anybody who really believes that...I have 10 acres of prime real estate (in a Louisianna swamp) I would like to talk to them about.

Laura Bush is just a nice person and would not say anything negative about anyone if her life depended on it. She never said a bad thing about the people who have said very mean, hateful, personal things about her family. I would not expect her to say anything else.

Good grief...John Edwards. Now there is someone to make a quote about two Americas. Any idea what size house he lives in? Gets $300 haircuts? Made millions suing people and channeling dead kids to do it? He is as bad as the people he points fingers at. And he came from poor folks. He should KNOW better. I don't see him living in a smaller house, driving a smaller car, rebuilding New Orleans or anything else with his millions. Yet has the gall to point fingers at corporate America and people BUY that false sincerity. Sheesh!!

Yes, there are bigots. There are black bigots, white bigots, red and yellow bigots. Bigots come from all races. Racists come from all races.

I am not ashamed, nor have I ever been ashamed, to be an American. It is not the country's fault some goofballs live in it. Just like it is not the black race's fault that some of theirs are bigots and racists. Just like it is not every Caucasian's fault that slaves were held 200 years ago, especially Caucasians living now. That needs to be put to rest and the chip needs to come off the shoulders. It would serve us all well to remember that while some Caucasians did enslave people, other Caucasians stepped up and went to war, fought and died in partial reason to abolish said slavery. And if those said Caucasians had not stepped up, it would not have happened. And lest we forget one little tidbit of information...slavery was in existence long before America was. And who did the Dutch traders buy said slaves from? Other blacks who enslaved their own people. All that being said, slavery IS wrong, and thousands of Caucasians fought died to abolish it. So can we please move on?

As to religion...again, good grief! This country was founded by people seeking religious freedom. This is the most "religiously free" country on the face of the earth. The only religion discriminated against in this country is Christianity. Muslims can do whatever they want, wear whatever they want, practice openly, even in school. Christians can't. Buddhists can...Christians can't. And "pure hatred" for anyone who is not in their club...there are offshoots of ANY religion who are kooks. And there are many fewer hate mongers that call themselves "Christian" and give us all a bad name...than there are in other religions. Islam sees no way but their way. They may say otherwise, but their Koran tells a different story. When was the last time Christians went to war for religion? As far as I know, THIS country has NEVER gone to war over religion. And as to the Crusades, yes, that was done in the name of religion. But what people also conveniently forget why...because Muslims were running across Europe killing everyone in their path who did not convert, and aimed to set up shop in Jerusalem, and slaughter as many Christians as they could on the way. Back in the day Christians did not feel like they could let that happen. I sympathize.

All that being said...Obama's problem is not that he is black, although if he is not elected that is what the racists will say. Just like Hillary's people are saying she did not get the nomination because she is a woman. Excuses, excuses, excuses. I would have the same problem with Obama if he were red, yellow, or green for that matter. I don't believe him, I don't trust him. I don't think he has enough experience and the people advising him do not make me feel any better about it. If you look at his voting record, he is one of the most liberal senators, if not THE most liberal. Now he is trying to move to the middle because he wants to be elected. You do not change your whole life-long way of thinking overnight.

Friend, as long as there are human beings there are going to be bigots. There are going to be racists. You will not change that. These are the people who don't have the ambition or drive to work to get ahead and want to blame someone else for their lot in life...whether it is pity me because I am black, pity me because I am poor and white, pity me because the rich people have all that money and I have nothing, and on and on an on and on. You either rise above it or you wallow in it. Nowadays minorities do have it over Caucasians, so the chip really should come off. So we have affirmative action for poor white kids? Uh...no. Do we have special college programs for poor white kids?Uh....no.

When was the last time you had a person of color thank you for your great grandfather dying at Gettysburg? When have you EVER heard that? When have you ever heard one of the black politicians of today say ANYthing about whites during the civil war being willing to split their country and die on the battlefield in part to emancipate slaves and abolish slavery? I personally have yet to hear it. They want to talk about the whites who enslaved them, but they sure don't want to talk about the whites who died to set them free. Now you tell me...is that or is that not racist?

That being said...I think a person should help their fellow man and everyone should have an equal shot, no matter WHAT their color is. And that includes...gasp...caucasians.

Another thing you might do...check your history. The Democratic Party, during the civil war, right after it, up until 1964 tried its dead level best to keep black people from being able to vote. Not until the voting rights act of 1964 were all restrictions lifted. Lyndon Baines Johnson said, as he signed it into law: "We (Democrats) may have lost the south forever (meaning the votes of southern white Democrats...now there is/was a racist group). But, the Democrats had to think fast about how to rebuild the base...and how do they do that? Well, enter Lyndon Baines Johnson and the War on Poverty....and entitlement programs out the kazoo. And there was born the new Democratic base to take over for the old one...and the fact that the Democratic party had been the ones with the foot on the neck of black people for 100 years was forgotten.

How many black people today do you think even KNOW that? I would venture not many, as it is no longer taught in school and revisionist history has taken over.

All that being said...I think it is time to put that away and not continue to hold it over the head of every American, especially since the wrong was righted by Caucasian folks on civil war battlefields and the Republicans (Abe Lincoln was one) then and right up until the voting rights act of 1964 hammered at the Democrats until they gave in. But you don't hear much about that anymore do you? No,not a peep. All you hear about is racist America, and most folks think Republicans were responsible all along, which is a bold-faced lie. History does not lie. Check it out.

That is why I LOVE this country and her people, black and white, yellow and red. Because for all the griping, all the poor pitiful me's, all the excuses, there are those who are still willing to put their lives on the line for this country and her people. God bless them, I say. They are the fabric which holds us together. God forbid that at least some of us will always remember that and be grateful.

Yes, I love my country. I am proud of her history, her start, and my heritage. My country has never disappointed me, though some of my fellow citizens certainly have and continue to.

When it became me, me, me, instead of we, we, we....sigh.
When I said "your campaign" I meant Obama put it from his...
campaign...that is different from someone's supporters putting something out without the stamp of approval of the campaign. I did not mean you personally. Unless you are running for office, you don't have a campaign. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

As far as voter fraud...looks like it is not only the GOP:
The union supporting, Democratic Party pushing, extreme leftist Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has been caught trying to jerry-rig voter applications in Michigan. It is looking like fraud on a massive scale in Detroit as ACORN tries to fill the Democrat voter rolls with fake Democrat voters.

ACORN is being investigated after several Municipal Clerks discovered fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications.

The majority of the fraudulent and duplicate applications are coming from the liberal ACORN group based in Detroit, Michigan, which now has ACORN investigating the problem once again as well as the Secretary of State’s Office turning over some of those applications to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
And it isn’t just Detroit that has found fraud being perpetrated by ACORN.

In recent years, ACORN’s voter registration programs have come under investigation in Ohio, Colorado, Missouri and Washington, with some employees convicted of voter fraud.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is also reporting that the Obama campaign has been forced to amend a report to reflect over $800,000 of previously unreported ACORN donations to his campaign.

ACORN is at the heart of one of the most massive voter fraud campaigns in American history. ACORN is intimate with Barack Obama and is a major supporter of unions throughout the country and is doing its level best (and illegally at that) trying to assure that Obama wins this election.

Have not heard Obama say much about this...but I guess he can't until he returns their money.

Am still researching if McCain has said anything about the GOP shenanigans...which if true, is just as bad and neither side should be doing it. But again, it appears as if both sides are.
Meant OBAMA is tied... pc problem.
nm
no no no no Biden sometimes flubbs up meant 250 obama last night just said

The little girl.

It happened in Aiken, South Carolina ER about a month ago, I had her name written down to try to send to Alan Colmes, but I have probably lost it, wait a minute, let me look.  Cannot find it, to the best of my recollection her first name was Chartise, or similar to that, and the only paper we have here in Aiken is the Augusta Chronicle, which is in GA. Search the obits, I wish I had time, don't wanna bitch but my plate is very full, caring for son, and dying parent. But I do care.

You go girl!
Finally the banned voices are coming forward! Thanks for that:) We have not heard enough over the past five years about real democracy, the right to challenge our own government and the right to express a political opinion without being gagged, fenced in, prohibited from participating and locked out of the discourse.
I'm just old enough to appreciate *girl* LOL (nm)

You go, girl!
How can we not be impressed with this man and all of the people from different walks of life that he brought together at the convention? It really warmed my heart to see everyone getting along and bonding. We are people first and we deserve better than the Bush/McCain administration.
you go girl/guy

beautiful, beautiful reply.

You tell it like it is girl
I'm sick to death of the scare tactics that if we vote in McCain all our taxes are going to be raised and only the 1% rich will not have to pay.

Were they asleep when Democrat Clinton was in? I don't pay 40 percent now, but I did when the dems were in. Then on top of that I had to pay thousands more at the end of the year cos I didn't pay enough.

My MIL keeps trying to tell us that only rich people are in the republicans side. We're like....give me a break. I was born at night but not last night.
Al-RIGHT! You go, girl! (We all just wish Sam
nm
I saw this girl on TV....
she survived a saline abortion. She said that luckily the abortionist was out of the room when she was born or she feels she would have been left to die. A nurse called an ambulance and had her taken to a hospital. She has such a joyful outlook on life. Just an amazing person.
LOL!!! I'm with you girl! nm

But you will believe the girl who has once
again decided now, right before election, to surface.....the one who accused the Duke players of raping her and lied about it as well as the DA, who we remember got dumped and may still face more prosecution for his part in the lie.

She is singing woe is me, I'm a person, blah, blah, blah.. wonder how that just happened to pop up out of the blue right now.
You go girl....sm
I've enjoyed it too, for the most part. I was talking to my husband last night, and we both agree that this thing is gonna be a lot closer than anyone thinks. There's a margin of error in all these polls (I posted someting on that a few days ago), and some of the polls may even be in JM's favor, although I don't hold much stock in them. With all the undecideds, I can't remember now, but something like at least 5% of voters? That may make all the difference....and my money is on Yosemite Sam. We'll drag him over the finish line kicking and screaming with us, if we have to....lol....

It's nice to see you post again, too. I've missed your common sense!
You go, girl!
...(hope I got the gender right and am not offending anyone.)
You go, girl!!! {{{{Applauding}}}}

I'm a mountain girl myself, so
to be very cleansing to the mind and calming to the soul. Glad you had a good time. Soon there will be some beautiful color with the leaves turning.
Somehow, American Girl

something tells me we are preaching to the choir here.  See posts below.

Good girl. I like that. Another example of why the
nm
Huh? What you smokin, girl?
?
girl, I read EVERYTHING . . .

don't you worry about my little ole reading habits.  The whole point of the post is being ignored like the elephant in the living room.  But I expected that.  Fun anyway.

Smart girl.
x
I'm a chevy girl!!!
Let's be honest -- most people will be buy the item that costs less to save money.  Let someone else worry about the American jobs, right?  If we seriously had to buy only American-made stuff, we'd be in serious trouble.
Pgh girl with B on cheek
Have you seen the latest news on the supposed McCain supporter who was attacked at an ATM for having a McCain bumper sticker? Turned out she wasn't at the ATM (per camera) and did not remember anything as she was unconscious. See how this starts getting out of hand. I just wish the candidates would concentrate on their ideas and stop the attacking of each other. I want to hear what they really, really stand for and what their plans are.
You go girl! Don't let anyone influence
you about your vote. You go ahead and vote your conscience and feel good about yourself! This election is too important for you not to vote at all. My mother lived and died and never voted because she felt she didn't have the right because she was a woman. Can you imagine? You go vote while we all still have that privilege!
From a 13-year-old girl
My daughter is in 8th grade. For the election, the students are to go to each candidate's web site and research the candidates, and then the students will vote (using a real voting booth - cool mom!)

She told me that she started her research today, and she found that when she looked at Obama's web site it talked about his family and such, and then his proposals for change. When she went to McCain's web site, all she found initially, were negative things about Obama, and that was the main point of his web site, but on the sides, she could dig out a little more on the issues.

She was wondering why people have to be so negative. She said, "Doesn't Gram (my mother) always say that when people spend all their time talking badly about other people, it is because they have nothing good to say about themselves?"

She hasn't decided who she will vote for (but she is a tree-hugger of her own accord), and I think she will probably lean left.

Anyway, I am now off to take a better look at the 2 web sites to see what I see.

Peace,

CB
here's a girl after my own heart. I have
done my share of camping in the winter inside the house, too. We will probably have a cold winter, we usually do after a hurricane. I had whiskey barrel planters outside that had filled with water and never got any plants put in them and they froze solid that winter; I am 20 miles off the coast. My girlfriend went "skating" on the stock pond that winter and broke through the ice. She says her feet have been cold ever since. Looks like I will be spot heating again this winter, just where I happen to be in sweats and sweaters and an electric blanket or small heater. My son is a train engineer and he tried to tell the boys at the coal plant what would happen, but they were dems and their daddies were dems, etc., and oh, the ripple effect that is coming.
You silly girl
I'm getting my claws sharpened. HA HA HA

I know your posting to try to get a "rile" out of people (is rile the right word?)

So all I'm going to do say is this.

Thank you for the advise. I turned off my TV yesterday (well actually I did watch some DVDs). So thank you for the advise.
Ole Tn girl myself also and I am a blue
dot in a red state right next to you now. Whereabouts in TN are you? I am glad to say my property taxes are going down this year from over 2,000 to 800- well I have become old enough they believe I no longer have children in public school so am finally getting a break. My property assessment comes out really close to the end of the year so will have some bubbly later on to celebrate. Long time coming!
What you smokin, girl? Look inside for some of your

you are incapable of having an intelligent cogent conversation with anyone

But again, you are just too violently angry to respond coherently

But in your rage and blind hatred, you failed to see that.  In fact, I have stated more than once that I don't care for her.  But don't let me confuse you with facts.  You are obviously in full blown rage and far be it from me to stop you.

Truly, someone like this is not worth the energy

I love how you all think you know what this girl is thinking.
As though you know her personally and have a telepathic link to her private thoughts. lol
Glad you're still here....you go girl, with all your...
facts and opinions. You're a breath of fresh air.
I totally agree - you go girl!

Yeah, you get that LAST WORD in, girl - it's
,
Keep it up girl! RICH is NOT a bad word, only for
!!
Don't know what you are talking about, I am a city girl.
But enjoy!
Be a big girl and stop whining already
Yeah, I guess in your eyes gays and lesbians should just sit back and be content with being the second-class citizens you would like them to be.
Cyndiee, you hang in there girl, I am
beginning to enjoy your posts. You are really sounding like a real AMERICAN GIRL! Pooey on this hate between the dems and pubs. I had a boss one time that I just could barely tolerate and had to sit right next to him every day. But, I respected his position of leadership. Mr. Bush is no longer our president, and I also respected his position of leadership as I do Mr. Obamas. That is not to say I agree with either of their policies or beliefs. As long as our country is divided by such bitterness and hate for each other just because one is a dem and one is a pub, we will never heal. We have to remember that we are ALL AMERICANS!

And just remember, everyone may not have been effected by this economy yet, but I truly believe they will feel it. I certainly would not be bragging about great everything is right now! I have grandchildren in college and, due to the market crash, we don't have near as much to worry about leaving to children and grandchildren!!
You HAVE to feel better getting all that poison out of your system girl! nm

You go girl!! I am part Japanese. My aunt will tell me sm
ALL that my grandmother had to go through to become legal. It can be done. If that woman is pregnant and is a resident of Mexico she should do the noble thing and return to Mexico.

Too many people in Texas (I have family there too) put up with illegals there. That will soon become a little Mexican-American nation and Spanish will be the main language because just like her, "why do you care??" Then what will they say about it?
Has she not heard the term that all it takes is just a little bit of yeast to work through the entire dough...It will happen eventually.
Yes, worked with a girl -"gonna have another baby
nm
Bingo. Give that girl a prize.
I can no longer say that sm - m and I never agree on anything. I can't handle a 61-cent hike in cigarettes. Just got off the phone with my husband who has been told to book a hotel suite for the duration while I go through withdrawal. I will be taking my last puffs with coffee and the inauguration. My quit date is Tuesday, Jan 20, just as soon as O is sworn in.

Having said that, cigarettes tax has always been the source of funding for SCHIPS and I see no reason for that to change, though you and the other posters have made good points about looking for other sources of unhealthy lifestyle choices OTHER nonsmoking Americans make.
In realty I'm a guy dressed up like a girl, that's why I'm butt ugly.
x
Intellect? Attacking an innnocent 16-year-old girl?
If that is intellect, you can have it!!
You go girl - 60,000 people attend her rally in Florida

Not bad for a town whose population is 70,000 people.

So why wasn't social services called on this girl?
So the parents who are involved in the lives of their children should be punished because some are not? Obviously if the parents don't care then something is wrong in the household and their needs to be an investigation or a report.

I just don't think a 14-year-old girl has the maturity to make decisions on her own like that. God knows the stupid things I would have done at 14 if my dad had just let me do whatever I wanted or wasn't informed!

I mean in that case, schools shouldn't call home when we skipped school because we should be allowed to make our own decisions about whether we want to be educated or not.
No. I love the country side in Alabama...I'm a country girl...nm

What I meant was....
why can we not protect the unborn children first? Are they not as deserving as homeless, poor, etc.? That was my point. I do not see, nor do I ever expect to see, liberals exhorting us to take care of unborn children as a part of taking care of the least among us. I have seen Conservatives exhort to take care of the least among us, including unborn children. Conservatives just want to put a limit on it, and regulate it a little more closely (as far as welfare, etc.). I don't have a problem with that either. And I give privately to Christian organizations that DO take care of the least among us. It does not have to go through the government to be effective. I guess that is where we differ.
What I meant was...

He should have said "no comment" first thing when he addressed the American people - when he said the whole "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" thing.  At that point he was not obligated to comment, and he shouldn't have.

I am not a "Clintonite" or whatever you said.  I just think he was a more intelligent person than Bush.  Although I despise Bush, I really do like his wife Laura.  I think she seems like a very caring, very genuine person.

I do NOT plan to vote for Hilary.  I plan to vote for Barack Obama if he makes it that far.  I think he could really improve the health insurance crisis in America.  I never hear Republican candidates talking about making healthcare more affordable, and therefore I will probably vote for a Democrat.
