I want us to win...sm

I didn't agree with us going in, but since we are there for crying out loud let's fight or come home. That's the way I see it. I've said that before and I wouldn't have a problem with increasing the troops if I thought it would be a temporary situation - to go in with a military strong hand to bring stability over there and then bring them all back home. That would mean more deaths in the short term, but bring closure, and hopefully stability, faster. Because lets face it whether we leave or stay for 10 years there is going to come a day when the different factions over there will have it out.

As euphoric as it sounds, I don't see them sitting down to talk it out and then living peacefully ever after together. We will have to be the military muscle (policemen) for years to come.

And the weak liberal excuse won't hold water because until last November, Bush had complete control over the direction of the war. I find it ironic that he would wait to push for more troops with a liberal house and senate, making me question if his *plan* to increase troops was just fluff.

In order to answer whether I want us to win...define what *winning* is. Is it taking down Saddam and his regime? We won.

Get the WMD? Depends on who you talk to, we won that too.

Will it be the day that Iraqis have a democracy in place? We won that too, I think?

The day they live in harmony and able to police themselves?

Will that extend to the day when Iranians live in democracy, will that extend to the day that N. Koreans ... Saudi Arabians...??

Winning has not been defined.
What is a win to you?

What if I'm wrong?
What else can I say...I try not to stand up and say anything unless I feel strongly about it, so if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
