In Reply to: I am still amazed by how some of you think.... - Sexual deviant

One of the boys who used to work for us (OK, he's 23 now, but I still think of him as a boy) is gay. He tried to hide it for a long time and tried to be straight, and he was miserable. Poor kid, it was so obvious to so many people that he was gay, we weren't sure why he was trying to hide it.

He finally came out a few years ago, and he has had some tough times, especially living in "redneckville" where we are, but he has really blossomed in that time. He has so much more self confidence and he seems truly happy, which he never did when he was younger.

He also says he would have never chosen to be gay. It is hard, especially the predjudice, but he also can't deny who he is. He is a wonderful young man and I am proud to know him, and proud that my children, ages 16 (son) and 13 (daughter) call him friend. The last thing that would ever come to mind when I think of him is "deviant."

I see no change in lifestyles here
I'm sorry but I live in Western NY and I see no change in lifestyles here...the stores are still packed, the restaurants are still packed.  I ran into the local plaza today to get a loaf of bread and the place was packed; there are 3 restaurants in that plaza and they were all packed.  I know people are losing their jobs and things are tough but at least around me people are still spending so what is going on? I've had friends in other areas of the country say the same thing and none of us know anybody making over $250,000 a year.
