I live one town over from there and many blacks in our community went there. They do remember the march quite vividly. Their take was not that of a man who was genuine but of a man who thought they were so desperate for a "leader" they would believe anything he told them. THey said they felt like he was patronizing them, as if they should believe whatever he tells them, because he knew best. I take them at their word unless you believe they lie as well.
They seemed very upset by the fact that he yammered on and on about how his mom and dad met and decided to get together BECAUSE of the march and decided to have Obama, Jr BECAUSE of the march, when in actuality he wasn't born until 4 years AFTER the march. They felt if he were truly sincere, he would have at least known when the march actually took place instead of just making sure he showed up in a place where he thought he could easily grab a vote. They did live it and as they said, they WERE NOT impressed with him.
These same people live as my neighbors and have for years. They are not so easily fooled and have used language about him I won't use here. They feel he is a sell out and that he should be encouraging blacks to better themselves, not take "entitlement" checks, which is another thing I won't describe in their words.
Like they said, they prefer not to live in the past. One family has raised 3 daughters, one an attorney and two are doctors, and they didn't take "entitlement" checks to get them there. They do not care for him.
If you don't like the "n" word and I can certainly understand why, you might want to get all the rap music to stop using it as well as all the children that walk the halls of our schools and yell it out all the time. If it's a bad word, it's a bad word no matter who uses it.
