Case and point Fox News is the #1 media outlet via ratings and hardhitting conservative anchors, pundits, and journalists. Other than Hardball, I don't know of another mainstream show that puts the liberal point of view out there and checks this administration and their policies.

I give you Democrats and/or liberals credit for even being able to respond to the right wing who for some reason, I just cannot understand why, constantly come over to the liberal board and post more than the liberals do and every post is a disagreement or outright attack towards the liberal poster who posted on the liberal board..I frankly have had it with the Republicans. They have messed up America with their backward way of thinking and they still dont get it. Their party is falling apart and they are looking at more Democrats being voted in yet they still spew their hate, bias, closed mindedness..From Limbaugh to Coulter to Falwell to Robertson, Dobson, Hannity, etc., etc., they show the world how uninformed and racist and backward they are..and the Republican masses follow blindly. I just about choked on the latest idiotic comment by Coulter concerning Christians and Jews. Someone needs to set that broad straight real fast. The comments she made that Jews need to be perfected is a mind set right out of Hitlers Germany. Oh and all you Republicans who will wander over to the liberal board and real this, dont waste the energy, I will not respond to your posts nor read them. This is a post to my fellow Democrats/liberals.

you have to ask yourself WHY does one need to pass a law for diversity in media ownership. ANY American in this country is allowed to own/manage media without bias on race, gender, or anything else. You start opening our American media up to foreign countries (which is what this entire law is about and you have to understand why) and you have started opening a flood gate of foreign interpretation as to what they consider "free" speech. Foreign intervention into our media is a definite no-no. Why do you feel foreigners need to run our media. They are already involved enough but we should never allow our media to run by foreign entitites.....common sense should dictate why.

Yes I'm for freedom of speech. We as citizens need to be heard. But I am for non-destructive, peaceful freedom of speech. A voice in the crowd is much stronger than someone causing destruction and not saying anything and not knowing why they are doing it except their friend said it would be really "kewl" to do this and get on TV. Like I said I am for protesting - especially against a war we should not be in or other issues of importance. I was born in 1960, so I am not sure what "struggles" you are talking about. When MSNBC and CNN were asked who the protesters were they said well there are some who are holding up signs and speaking and walking around, but the other ones who are causing destruction are not protesting anything. They come from all different states. I was also living in Seattle when Clinton was president and that big hoopla with WHO was going on. People committing violence for no reason. When asked what they are protesting against they don't know. They aren't there to protest. They are there to cause havoc and destruction for no reason - those my friend are what I call "things".

You asked about the values of liberals, so here goes ... at least from this liberal's perspective. I value people's inherent ability to make decisions about their own lives, barring medical issues preventing same (i.e., mental incapacity). I live by the Golden Rule. I value the choice for people to practice whichever faith they choose ... or none at all ... and really mean it! I accept people and their differences from the "norm". I believe 2 consenting adults with the required mental capacity should be allowed to marry - with no litmus test. And I sure don't care what people do in their own bedrooms as long as it is between consenting adults. Most importantly, I value the principles set forth by the Constitution of the United States since, first and foremost, I am an American.

I admire your fortitude MT ME - I had to turn off my TV about a year ago. I keep up with Faux News on the Newshounds website but that's as close as I can stand to get, lol. I am hoping hard for the early successful launch of Independent World Television (no corporate funding or advertising and it'll be coming from Canada)but that's a ways off. I totally miss 24-hour NEWS like CNN was when it first started. Thank God for blogs!

Not in 8 yrs of Clinton, or anybody before him. You know why? Because the plight of the poor isn't the government's fault. It's not the rich man's fault either. But nobody wants to say what the problem is for fear of hurting somebody's feelings. Or better yet, if they problem were actually fixed, who would the Democrats get to vote for them? They NEED there to be racism, and poverty, and inequality (imagined or real). It's really quite sad.

I have asked this question before and did not get any answers, thought I would try again. On another board I got slammed for saying Obama was a liberal. Okay, if he is not, why isn't he? I don't want a dictionary definition, I would like to know, you who post here, how do you define liberal? How do you define yourselves, your political leaning...I am NOT trying to pick a fight, and I will not comment on the answers. That's about it, actually. That would be me. I can echo liberal democrat's sentiments too other than the democrat part. In my opinion only, "Leftist" is a term applied to people who do not agree with all conservative views, and is applied by conservatives. I would consider some of my views conservative, such as my own views on illegal immigration and fiscal responsibility, yet I have been called a leftist. Go figure.... They seem to think it is an insult I suppose.

For instance...this board is the *liberal* board...are Democrats liberals by liberals' definition? No? If not, what is difference? Why would a liberal say Obama is not liberal? As to *leftist,* I thought, and maybe mistakenly...applied to the far left wing of the Democratic party. I also thought, and apparently mistakenly...that Democrats were liberals...and obviously that is not true, because I was jumped on by referring to Obama as a liberal. I would be interested to know what about Obama does not classify him as liberal...
