I realize everyone has a blindspot, I certainly do, but when a woman wiggles and waggles on questions that Katie put to her and they were not spiteful, "tearing into her," and she can't answer them, I certainly would not be trying to get into the White House where I might become president and do more harm than good. I am sorry to say, but it is Americans like yourself who do not read the good with the bad who put Bush in the White House that sent me into a depression for weeks. If he could have appointed himself King or despot he would have. I guess you agree with jobs going overseas, not just ours but everyones? We may just not recover from this. Vote for McCain/Palin, it is your right, I just hope you are ready for the consequences. Do you just pass over everything that is said about this woman? She is sneaky. Bush is sneaky. You will never know what she is up to if she is put in the White House.

Anyone who watched the Katie Couric interview and can say it was vicious or slanted just did not watch it. Beat your gums all you want to but try to get informed.

I think Katie Couric knows a lot more
than Palin about being a VP.  I just said to DH last night that Couric would have made better a VP.  She certainly has the foreign policy down.  She knows the history.  Katie Couric needs no cheat sheet.
I didn't say he blindly supports Bush.
Scarborough is objective and honest, and if something is wrong, he tells people.  He doesn't blindfold himself and play follow the leader like so many Bush supporters.  He's not a Bush apologist.
Ummm...guess you didn't see the apology below....
I had not read through all the threads yet. You took exception to McCain but it looks like you and I have a bit of a hair trigger ourselves....eh?

I am not hung up on Sarah Palin. I do like her. I think she is the most genuine of the 4. I think that is the way she talks in her everyday life, and doesn't bother to window dress and act like something she isn't. And how she expresses herself has nothing to do with intelligence or the lack thereof.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it (there is a folksy one for ya...lol).

This is my favorite, I use it all the time, and I could apply it to the big O's explanation of his association with Ayers:

Barack, sweetie, that dog don't hunt. lol.

Nice post Katie. It's the electorial vote that puts
the R or D candidate in the Big House, not "We The People" as stated in the Constitution.
Regarding your comment on "armed guards," it got me thinking.....maybe the men and women in the US military should be the deciding or only voters. After all, it is they who protect and defend us from harms way. I have nothing but the highest admiration for them for risking their lives each and every day...and who for? US-the people. That's a he11 of alot more than Congress or the entire presidential staff do, IMO.
That's what happens when you follow blindly....
you go in circles. By the way, wagon has only one "g." And quite frankly, all conservatives are not "pubs." The last election cycle should prove that convincingly...if you can look away from the blinding light that is your leader long enough to have an independent thought...key word here being independent. You might want to wait and see what JTBB has to say before you answer. :-) Blah blah about sums it up...lol.
Ummm....ummm....nope, I'd best not touch that one. nm
x
That's right, JBB...right wing nut jobs blindly
Let them keep blindly following faux news. They think they are patriots? The rest of the country (and the world) think they are JOKES!

Country first or Couric first?
After announcing he was suspending his campaign, McCain rushed back to Washington. Oh no, he rushed over to CBS to be interviewed. Here is the transcript
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/24/eveningnews/main4476614.shtml
Anyone who watched her on Couric knows that and
Her town of Wasilla, tiny as it is, has 42 meth labs. Good job.
Would much rather intelligently question than blindly follow. NM

The same SP who tells Couric she is a feminist and
while she chafes and bristles during the Williams interview (when seated next to McC)? Keeping track of one's own stance on gender issues should not present such conflict and challenge to a VP pick. SP does doesn't blink and eye at McC's air quotes and sneering "mother's health" utterance, in view of her own stance on women's reproductive rights, whereby she cuts no slack, even in the case of rape and incest victims. In addition, she supports McCain's views on the issue of equal pay for women.

More than four decades after the Equal Pay Act made it illegal to pay men and women different wages for the same work, the fight over equal pay has not been put to rest. Although the wage gap has narrowed since the days when full-time working women made 58 cents on average to the dollar earned by men, women's wages have remained stuck at 77 cents to the dollar since 2001 (the shrub era).

McCain's contribution? In 1985, McCain voted against a study to investigate pay differences among federal employees, and determine whether they were the result of discrimination. His progress in the last 23 years? In April 2008 McCain voted against Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, stating it “opens us up for lawsuits, for all kinds of problems and difficulties.” "We do not need to put this burden of equal pay on business. Women need more education and better training.

Failin Palin is no suffragette. As a matter of fact, a McCain/Palin administration would set back the gains women have made toward equality at least 35 years. For many of us, we may as well keep right on going, straight back to the turn of the 20th century.
Couric tore her to shreds? LOL
Hardly...and besides, isn't that kind of sexist? A candidate for VP of the US should be able to answer ANY question with confidence and clarity. Is that too much to ask?? We shouldn't give her a pass because she's female and inexperienced. If she can't handle it she shouldn't be there.

I just read a story about McCain's aides saying she needed more coaching and studying to get up to a bare minimum of proficiency than any candidate in the last 50 years. Let's face it, scholarship is not her strong suit. You can't blame the press for that. Even some of Palin's OWN aides were in agreement to keep her away from the press during these last crucial campaign months. What does that say about her readiness to be leader of the free world, should it come to that?
calm down.

You appear to be losing it.

Its hard to calm down
You know when Kerry ran against Bush I did not feel this way. When Gore ran it was a little different because he was still associated with the clintons and I didn't not want a Clinton 3rd term. I just can't understand how someone can say something so shameful and hurtful. I can't even imagine what Obama's wife is thinking. Probably one of her biggest fears, and then along comes her husband's oponent and says something like this? Just really gets the blood pressure going. Some of the media is trying to make excuses for her but there is just no excuse. I wouldn't think so harshly if she had come out right away and said in no way did she mean what came out of her mouth, but she waits til the end of the day and then tries to cover it up and doesn't even apologize. Despicable and sleezy!!!!!!
Calm - thanks - an excellent

addtion.

calm down and we need to get the facts...
Being that I do not trust McCain based on his erratic behavior, I am going to wait this out to see what happens. I would not simply just believe anything thrown out there right now by these 2 candidates, Mc and Palin, as they are too desperate to provoke violence and hate.

Judy, calm down already
The election is over. Get over it.
Yeah, like he wants everyone to know he is calm
nm
o.k., calm down, antidepressants are
not really addressing the problem, they 'mask' it only.
Believe me if you have a grief, it is better to work through your problem, so that you can get closure.

If you take antidpressants your problem stays in your subconscience, unandressed and suppressed, but during the night, when you dream then it brakes loose and causes nightmares and maybe insomnia, because you just have to confront your problem to solve it.

This is what my doctor told me who is very careful with prescription. He gave me multivitamins instead.
I understand your point, but calm down!

I have not had a chance to read the latest news.  If she is saying what you claim, then I agree that is bad.  Still, I think you should relax a bit.

I would be calm sweet and caring too
if I had her money. Her outfit the other night was said to be worth over $300K. Minus the 3-carat diamond earrings, the outfit was only valued at around $30K. Laura Bush's outfit was estimated to be valued at less than $5K. Michelle Obama's was probably in that ballpark too.

Even if this stuff was donated by the designers, etc., I can't relate to any of these people. You will find me cruising the aisles of my local thrift shop looking for a bargain
Nothing eery about the calm O supporters.
for the moment, especially for those of us whose jobs bit the dust since the primary season. It's not drill baby drill...it's jobs, baby jobs. I have no doubt Obama will do exactly what he said he would when the time is right.

The tentative compromise deal being reported as we speak will ultimately throw a much needed cold damper on all that fun you seem to be having over your mantra of the hour (phone calls jam Capitol Hill). Do you intend to continue to cackle this much while your fellow citizens are lining up to apply for unemployment and food stamps to stay afloat long enough until the pubs come to their senses and pass the compromise they are reporting on as we speak?
You need to take a pill and calm down, Auntie.
And.... Rush Limbaugh? Who listens to that windbag anymore? Pardon me, but your ignorance is showing.
Oh, but you meant control as in calm?
nm
Do not fall for this hysteria... we all need calm heads
or we will all be in trouble, republican and democrats.  This is becoming the perfect storm for socialism if we do not stop being led around by those trying to play on our emotions.
Ummm...yes you did....
You said take it to the conservative board. And I do not see what in the post was bashing. It was stating an opinion, which anyone, no matter what their political affiliation is, still has the right to do on this board or any other to my knowledge. If you perceive the truth as bashing, that is your prerogative. And the truth IS, liberals continue to defend Clinton even though he was and is a morally corrupt individual who broke the law of the United States while a sitting President. He did it, that is the truth, there is no way around that. Yet your party continues to say it was about sex. I will try this one more time...perjury is perjury no matter what it is ABOUT. It is a felony. He broke the law and his oath of office. Never apologized for either. And took his last hours in office an opportunity to pardon all the crony crooks he could. And yet you continue to defend him as a great man. Pardon me if that seriously undermines the credibility of your party. That is NOT bashing. That is the TRUTH.
ummm
The way I read that is these units would be activated in case of natural or manmade diaster, not out on the streets everyday. Good greif.
Ummm, so maybe they can
Then the guilty can be punished, and the innocent prisoners who are not terrorists (or at least weren't when they were initially locked up) can be set free.

Kinda a no brainer, dontcha think?
Ummm....
source of the info and the fact that you "don't know anybody who would think it's right" yada yada yada, chances are you and the author are jumping to conclusions that are most likely a tad over-stated. It might be helpful to keep in mind that the "government" is not some block of concrete buildings or master computer somewhere. They are flesh and blood just like the rest of us and are not likely to be party to placing "control" of the heath care of themselves, their parents and their own children in the thoes of such a scheme. Sorry. Jury's still out on this.

Ummm...no....
Get over yourself. If you have something intelligent to say, I'm all ears, but until that time.....
Ummm....(sm)

So you don't think waterboarding is illegal -- even though it goes directly against at least 4 existing treaties?  If we aren't going to be held accountable by treaties that WE agree to, what's the point of being in them?

This is actually where I do disagree with Obama.  He doesn't want to make this into a partisan thing and is seemingly not too interested in prosecutions.  My opinion is that its not partisan to enforce existing laws.  As far as I'm concerned the whole bunch from the Shrub gang need to be prosecuted.  Maybe we can just extradite them to Spain.  That would work for me.

Ummm....(sm)
Doesn't this belong on the gab board?  What's wrong....don't want to talk about your heros, Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld going down for torture?
Ummm....(sm)
I think I would go with conventional interrogation techniques...you know....the ones that actually worked on KSM before the waterboarding.
Ummm....(sm)

"what right does the government have to take MY money and give to an organization like ACORN to pass out to democratic candidates for their campaigns"

Well, that was straight out of O'Reilly's mouth.  LOL.  In fact, I'm pretty sure that's just about exactly what he said last night.

So you think that there is a direct funnel that takes our tax dollars and just hands them over to Acorn?  Here's a news flash --- as the ladies noted last night on Billo's show, they are a nonprofit organization and have to apply and compete for grants and loans just like everyone else.

As for whether they are completely on the up and up, I have no idea, but I don't think I'll base that judgment on the commentary of a right-wing show host.

Ummm....(sm)

Exactly how is it that Fox's ratings prove that O'Reilly is not far right?  LOL.. Ratings have absolutely nothing to do with the discussion.

However, since you mentioned Obama and fulfilling his promises, it may not turn out like you think.  For the most part people who voted for him are pretty happy with how he's handling the economy and foreign affairs.  However, there are a few things that have gotten to a lot of dems.  For example, he hasn't gotten rid of "don't ask don't tell" yet.  He hasn't fulfilled promises he made to the LGBT community.  He's carrying on seemingly with "indefinite detention."  He ran on a platform that promised these things would be fixed.  Granted, he hasn't been there long and can still come around on these things.  However, if he doesn't my guess is that the country will go even farther to the left than they did this time.  Now that is what you should be worried about, not Fox ratings.

And just as a side note, if he gets healthcare reform through, it will be decades before a pub sets foot in the White House.

ummm.
Now who's making assumptions? You don't know what he paid for either. Secondly, I am fully aware of what is going on in this country. Spending, printing money, spending, printing money, etc., etc. Get over Bush He is gone. Obama has in four shorts months spent more money than the 43 presidents who preceded him COMBINED. So yeah, I worry about the cost of his date. Because it's just plain wrong. You want logic - you don't spend taxpayer money on a DATE in this failing economy. Logic would be to lead by example, not telling other people to sacrifice and then do something so excessive. Furthermore, who said I voted for Bush? You? Shows what you know. Next time don't vote in Obama and maybe free enterprise in this country will survive so we will all have jobs.
Ummm....(sm)
Obama has writtent 2 books ---- the first, "Dreams From My Father," was published in 1995.  The second, "The Audacity of Hope," was published in 2006.  --- Both before the election.
Ummm....actually it does...(sm)

The Declaration of Independence is not and was not a legal document.  It simply stated the intent of the US to separate from Great Britian and why.  It did not define any rules or regulations to be imposed in this nation.

Explain the Treaty of Tripoli that says "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

Another note:  Not everyone in this country is in the business of impressing your god and therefore has no need of any kind of "blessing" from your god.  What if I were a pagan and told you that the sun god was going to scorch the US unless everyone prayed to him/her.  Would you do it?  That's what you expect everyone else to do to impress your god.  Why?  Because YOU don't want to be in the mix when your supposed wrath of god experience comes.  I would put that in the category of trying to make others do something they don't agree with just to save your behind.  Don't even bother with the "but we want to save you too" speech.  Believe me, we don't want or need saving.

Ummm...no....(sm)

Your main point was what you initially stated, and that was that there was no mention in the MSM about this incident.  Unfortunately for you, I can undoubtedly come up with even more proof of MSM coverage if you'd like, but that would only serve to embarass you further.

As far as Obama not saying much about it, I think that was a good choice.  At the time he was only a couple days out from his speech in Cairo. --- That would be the speech where he is seeking to calm tensions between our religous nuts and their religious nuts.  Yeah....that would have been just a perfect time to bring that up.  How about using your brain for a change instead of just spitting out the right wing talking points.

Ummm....(sm)

I do believe I've more than proven I can take the heat on this board....LOL, even from the loons like you who just lurk around waiting for me to post something so you can jump on it, which is rather funny and pathetic all at the same time, as well as from the paranoid lunatics like Patty.

BTW, you can now take "paranoid lunatic" out of the insinuation box and put in the statement box......just so you don't get confused.

Ummm....(sm)

A gag order was issued:

http://www2.arkansasonline.com/news/2009/jun/08/gag-order-issed-shooting-case/

The whole point of the gag order (which the prosecutors asked for, btw) is so they can come up with a jury that has not been overexposed to the case.  I guess Fixed Noise wants to ensure that everyone hears about this so we can have a really hard time prosecuting this guy.  Way to go Fox!

More questions...

When and where did Democrat deny in the past being African-American?  I don't recall seeing a post to that effect and can't even imagine the reasons or circumstances under which such a post would even be posted.  If you want to be believed, produce the post.  Otherwise, it's just another necon lie, designed to take the focus off the real problem, which is a racist who apparently is proud to be such a deplorable human being.

More importantly, why are you so aggressive in your defense of such a deplorable human being when your own president has condemned what he said?  Sounds like you and Bennett were cut from the same cloth, which frankly isn't surprising.

Better be careful, though.  The next inconvenient group of people he might be interested in exterminating could be poor, uneducated, clueless, hateful, bigoted, ignorant white neocons.

Questions....! And more
Yep, cover their ears and yell la la la the whole way, that's the MO of the staunch repubs. What I really want to know is, what all exactly of this Bush admin are they so proud of?? What exactly have they accomplished, or even planned, that would actually succeed?? Health care? Social Security? Prescription program? Job security? Immigration? Judges and other appointees? Mishandling and misbehaviors? The environment? A straight answer for continually dumping billions overseas? But I've noticed any kind of even polite queries on that board get blasted off as usual, like a year and 2 years ago when I frequented these discussions. No direct answer whatsoever, just some name calling of us, the dumb ones. Hmmmm. Like I always say, if you're not outraged, you're not thinking....
Few questions.

I'm curious about a few things.

What do you personally do to help in your community?

What do faith do you have?

Do you have a mortage and what is the status?  Been able to make payments on time, behind, lost your home?

Do you have health insurance?  If not, why?

Do you have young children?

Were you for the bailout?

Do you have money invested in stocks?  Have you/are you going to cash it in?

Think we should bring our troops back?

Now, who do you think you will vote for?

That's what I got, 66.67%, or 22 out of 33 questions right, I think it said...sm
I had a brain freeze on several of them, where several answers seemed right on each one....

Ummm....no. The link says sm
it contains a malformed video id.  That's what it says when you paste it into the address bar and it takes you to You Tube.
Ummm...Which America would that be?
nm
Ummm....they do, actually, just as they take issue with
and ran with it.
Ummm....for starters
managed to assemble more than a dozen transitional economic advisors in 3 days, and I am certain he will not confine himself to those guys before it's all over. He has a 15 cabinet positions, 6 cabinet-level administrations positions and 3 Level 1 Executive Schedule offices to consider.

He's not been sworn into office, so there is not a whole lot he can do directly except to articulate his intent. No time for ego for a man who is preparing to face one of the greatest challenges as president in the history of our country. BTW, the Office of the President Elect has been around since 1963...not O's idea.
Ummm, think we should be concering ourselves
nm
