Why is it that as the Dow falls, Obama's approval rating climbs?

The Stock market was never a good idea in the first place.

Satan himself could not have devised a better way to suck the benefits of hard work away from those who earn it, reducing the workers to virtual slavery and transferring the wealth to those who do no real work themselves, but use it to {gamble} buy more future earnings away from those who actually do the work.

Profits from Investments in the Stock market are not earned

allow the tax breaks for the
richest to expire.  He has clearly outlined his plan.  Look it up.  Quit repeating nonsense.  It does not get any truer, no matter how many times you repeat it.
Tax Breaks
I don't quite understand the point of your post. "They get a bigger return" What does that mean? Obama's economic plan calls for tax breaks for the middle class.

Tax breaks for the wealthy has been the linchpin of the Bush administration's economic strategy for eight years. That's why it's such a talking point. The wealthy have access to far more tax breaks and tax havens and shelters than you or I, so they often end up paying little or no taxes.
So which is it, tax breaks under 250, under 200, or under 150, hmmm???

It actually very rarely breaks, but
yes, we do repair the little things when they go. Like I said, the rear end was the big one. Other than that, I have put in a starter and 3 alternators--but I bought one with a lifetime warranty, so whenever it goes, I go get a new one for free--it's a 20 minute job to change it out. Serpentine belts and regular maintenance. that's about it. It's a good old truck, but the interior is falling apart.
My problem is that tax breaks to should to those
nm
I took it for what it IS -- companies getting TAX BREAKS
Although English grammar & keyboarding can be taught to just about anyone, the deep-down knowledge of language, word & phrase patterns, ability to spell and acute hearing are things you're either born with, or your're not.

Bottom line: American work should be done in AMERICA. Let India and Pakistan support their growing middle class some OTHER way, because the United States is losing their middle class. If something doesn't change, there will only be 2 classes in this country - the very rich, and the very poor. The middle class, which USED to support both of them, will be nonexistent.
Minorities get all the breaks
so that might not be a bad thing. ;-)
So giving tax breaks & loopholes to the
ultra-wealthy top few percent & the corporations, and incentives to offshore, (the republican way), thereby putting us in the economic crisis that we're in right now & during the Great Depression is really a great plan that works so well... NOT. It took a Democrat to un-do the republican mess during the Great Depression, and it's going to take a Democrat now to un-do Bush's economic nightmare he's created for us. Time and time again, every republican creates a recession and/or depression, and we have a thriving economy under Democrats, and I can understand corporations and ultra-rich people voting republican, but I have no respect for any working person who votes republican because they're just not bothering to pay attention. And thanks a lot for the Bush nightmare by the way.
That last link, w/the Iraq veterans, breaks...sm

My heart, and makes me furious at the same time.  Why isn't John "did-I-mention-yet-today-that-I-was-a-POW-for-5-years?" McCain more supportive of GI benefits?  Anyone?  Cause I'd love to know how he's justified it.

Bush Breaks Nation's Promise to Veterans

This isn’t new (it’s from May), but it’s the first I saw it. I found it interesting but not surprising.  Our Veterans deserve much better.

VETERANS
Bush Breaks Nation's Promise to Veterans

Appearing yesterday at the Arlington National Cemetery to honor generations of sacrifices by American servicemen and women, President Bush said, "At our national cemetery, we take comfort from knowing that the men and women who are serving freedom's cause understand their purpose and its price." Yet the reality has been that the administration that most recently has sent those men and women to fight for freedom's cause has failed for live up to government's age-old promise to "care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan."

BUSH'S 2006 VA BUDGET HITS VETERANS HARD: President Bush's 2006 budget proposal included legislation that would raise veterans' premiums more than 100 percent on prescription drugs and add an annual $250 enrollment fee for veterans who want care for conditions not directly caused by military service and who generally earn more than $25,000 a year. The administration has recommended these same proposals in each of the past few years, only to have them beaten back by Congress each time. The user fee would increase costs for nearly 2 million veterans nationwide.

WAR VETERANS EXCLUDED FROM COST OF WAR ON TERROR: Conservatives in Congress rebuffed an effort to include $2 billion in emergency money for veterans' health care in the recently passed $82 billion Iraq war supplemental. The president's request increased the VA budget a mere 2.7 percent (including the increased co-pays and enrollment fees), hardly sufficient to deal with an expected influx of Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans in the coming years. Nearly 28,000 soldiers who served in Iraq and were discharged have already sought care at a VA facility. Of the nearly 245,000 veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan already discharged from service, 12,422 have been in VA counseling centers for readjustment problems and symptoms associated with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. VA Secretary Jim Nicholson has said the budget circumstances are not "dire," yet Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Larry Craig (R-ID) was forced to increase the 2006 budget request by $1 billion. Dave Autry, a spokesman for the Disabled American Veterans, said, "Vets are owed a debt and the government has said they are eligible for health care. The government needs to pay for it. It's a continuing cost of our national defense."

BUSH WANTS TO SHUT DOWN VETERANS HOSPITAL IN HIS OWN BACKYARD: Veterans in Bush's backyard, near his ranch in Crawford, Texas, are protesting his administration's decision to close a VA hospital in their town. "It would be, in my opinion, a tragic mistake to shut down our hospital, especially during a time of war when tomorrow's veterans are in harm's way today," said U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Waco). In May 2004, then-VA Secretary Anthony Principi announced he would be closing three veterans hospitals nationwide and partially closing eight others. For his work, Principi was rewarded with an appointment to the chairmanship of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) commission.

VETERANS GROUPS SLAM BUSH BUDGET: More than 300,000 veterans' claims are pending before the VA, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, and the number of claims pending for more than six months rose from 47,000 in 2003 to 75,000 at the end of March 2005. The deteriorating condition of VA health care has elicited plenty of criticism. The American Legion called Bush's budget "the wrong message at the wrong time to the wrong constituency." The Vietnam Veterans of America said the budget did a "disservice to those of us who donned the uniform to defend the rights, principles, and freedoms that we hold dear." And the Veterans of Foreign Wars decried Bush's decision as "especially shameful during a time of war."

How can you call it giving small business tax breaks...
that are minute at best, and then raise their personal tax (the money they take care of their families with) at a higher rate? Makes absolutely no sense.

He wants to raise taxes even more on large corporations...who employ what percentage of the US work force? That makes us even less competitive with foreign countries in the labor market. What part of that can you not understand? When you raise their taxes they either offshore or downsize. That is the nature of the beast. And when he says "record profits" you just buy that and he won't give specifics, because if he did, you would see the fallacy of the thinking. What he needs to be reporting is the profit margin...not the "profit." It costs multimillions to operate an oil company. And "big oil" is a major employer and a huge part of many states' economies...Oklahoma, Texas, Alaska, to name a few. Oil companies and the companies that provide goods and services to oil companies...HUGE part of the nation's economy. Do all the employees of oil companies and the companies that provide goods and services to oil companies...do all of them deserve to get the ax because the people at the top of the chain make a lot of money?

You should check out what the big union higer-ups make. Certainly more than their members will ever see. But you don't hear Democrats talking about disparity in income in unions, now do you?
Her point is that Obama voted repeatedly against tax breaks for the middle class and suddenly he'

the middle class person's best friend!  Funny how now he wants to help us, when each time he had the opportunity to, he voted against it.

They're not tax breaks....they're tax credits
