Excellent letter. I attended the April 15 TEA party and will continue to attend protests.
The first amendment was written so that people could not be persecuted for speaking out against their government. It has gotten to the point now where hate groups get together publically, spewing their hate, not for the government but for a race of people. There are just too many things to list as to how freedom of speech has been abused.
Our second amendment: We want to keep our guns. I am an Avid shooter and practice quite often with my Glock .40. I took the class, passed with flying colors, had an FBI background check and was fingerprinted and I now have a license to carry a concealed weapon in about 28 states (reciprocal laws). If you take the guns away from honest, law-abiding citizens, the criminals are still going to have them and the innocent will be left unprotected. What am I supposed to do if you remove innocent people's guns? Try to beat an intruder with a baseball bat while my 3 pugs dance around his/her feet looking for some extra petting? I can't get a guard dog. I'm too afraid it would hurt my 3 babies.
As for everything else that lady wrote, I am in agreement - TARP, bailouts, passing bills in the middle of the night, etc. We also need to do away with NAFTA.
I knew what a slippery slope he was when he was campaigning. I knew, because when I was young, I made poor choices and dated men just like him. I knew he was a liar and could not deliver. I have YET to have someone who voted for Obama give me a decent reason why. All I ever get is "He represents change". OK. What change? What kind of change? And these same people who have Obama stickers all over their cars are flocking to gun shops to buy guns while they can. Did Obama voters not read his policies on his web site? My husband and I read both his policies and McCain's policies and both of us voted for McCain.
Elections have consequences. So many Americans who believed in him have been duped. Anyone get a check yet for their mortgage payment? You still paying for your gas? Funny how the price went back up after he took office.
You want socialized health care? Hope you're not too old and need medical care. In England, if you're over 55, you simply do not get dialysis no matter how badly it is needed.
Oh, and stop the tax credit bull. All that is, is another way for you to take more of our money and control us, making us do certain things in order to get it back in the form of a tax credit.
Like that lady who wrote the letter, I am in no way a violent person. Heck, I can't even discipline my dogs. However, I am quite angry with this administration, being taxed to death and seeing our liberties potentially being taken away.
Honestly, I don't think he knows crap about what he's doing. He's added 21 czars? How much do they get paid?
I also agree with the writer in that the Repubs and Dems have both gotten so far away from their political roots, it's not funny. The libs just want to tax and spend, tax and spend. The conservatives have moved too far toward the middle and have also forgotten what they are supposed to stand for - smaller government, more money for the people.
Until the last election, the only dem I ever voted for was Jim Traficant and he ended up in jail. This election, other than the president, I had a list of where each politician I could vote for stood on the 2nd amendment. Dem in favor of keeping it intact, Repub not? Vote for Dem.
I didn't believe Obama's baloney when he was running and I now know what a liar he truly is. As much as I disliked Clinton (and before you all go off about all the good he did for our country, remember - he had a repub senate and house for most of his tenure. Now, it's all dem majority from the president down), at least I felt safe with him running the country. At least he stood up for U.S. policy. Seems Obama wants to be everyone's friend. I'm sorry but that does not work in a world like this.
Things about him will come out, maybe not until he's out of office, but they will come out. And Americans will see how badly duped they've been.
