I have to face reality at some point and realize

While I hope its McCain, Obama “seems” to be in the lead.  I say seems because I think a lot of what we hear gets distorted and I have to remember back to when Gore ran and everyone was 100% sure he’d win he didn’t.  Also I think everyone was sure that Kerry would win and he didn’t.  And I was also talking to my dad and he said when Kennedy & Nixon were running everyone was sure Nixon would win, but he didn’t.  So I believe that there is nothing that we can be sure of and you just never know what could happen.  And whether it is Obama or McCain, I hope the country will turn around and improve.

I’d like to share a couple thoughts as I’m curious if other people feel this way too.

First, I have to say that I’m sitting here with my ballot not filled out yet and not sure if I will even vote because the two choices are neither of whom I picked.  I know I can write in anyone I want, but will that just waste my vote on nothing?  While I’m a registered democrat there is just some things that are not sitting right and its on both sides.  On the dem side I would have liked to have seen Richardson or Kucinich, and on the rep side I would have liked to see Ron Paul or Duncan Hunter.  But no, who do they pick?  John McCain.  The guy who lost against Bush (talk about a bad omen).  I just don’t get why they think he will win over Barack Obama if he couldn't even win over Bush.  No doubt about it Barack Obama is a spectacular speaker.  He seems well put together.  So how in the world did they ever think McCain could win over him.  I also don’t get it because Romney, Huckabee & Paul were doing very well in the primaries and McCain was not, but at the last minute all of a sudden McCain is picked.  Maybe the “big plan” is they put in such a person on purpose so the democrats would win.  One can only imagine.  So with that said I’m not real trustful of the government and here I sit with my blank ballot wondering what to do.

While I am not for either of the candidates that are running for President I do happen to like both running mates.  I actually hoped Biden would have been chosen for President, and even though I had no idea who Sarah Palin was, I do like her.  Yes you can ridicule me all you like, but I could care less about the “fluff” stuff, I’ve read about what she has accomplished and I think she’s a fine person.  My perfect ticket.  Biden/Palin.  HA HA HA.  Please don’t flame me, I’m just trying to describe my dislike for the Presidential candidates.

While I do have to admit McCain just doesn’t seem to “get it”.  There is so much he could bring up but he doesn’t and it makes me wonder how strong of a person he is and would he be good in the office.  My husband adamantly flat out says “NO”.  Then in the same breath he says but look at the other candidate.  Both of them scare me.  Not for anything the media says because I don’t believe or trust the media, but rather looking at their past records.  I believe they are both saying what they believe we want to hear to get elected - isn’t that what all politicians do?

As for Obama’s tax hike, I don’t have to worry because I don’t make $250K or over, but at the same time I don’t want to receive from the people who do because that would not be fair to them.  Especially someone putting in over 60 hours a week to make ends meet and now they are going to take some of that and give to me?  What I do have to worry about is if he pulls a Bill Clinton and then lowers the tax rate and now people making 90K and up will have more taken from them.  Then when he realizes he needs more money to fund all his programs he will then lower the rate and lower and lower.  Then before we know it instead of getting taxed 23% on 30K a year we will be taxed 42 or 43% like we were under the last democrat president.  So, we’ll just have to wait and see, and if it happens I will deal with it.

As for who’s to blame for what has happened with the economy there is enough blame to go around on both sides.  You can’t honestly say it’s all the republicans fault or it’s all the democrats fault.  That’s not fair because I’ve seen both sides against the bail out and both sides for it.  It’s just a little disheartening to know that both candidates who want to be our leader voted for it (no matter what they said ahead of time).  This is why I have a lot of distrust in them both.

Also what I don’t like is if I don’t vote for Obama because of his policies people will accuse me of being a bigot and will say I’m not voting for him just because he’s black (which is not true), but on the other hand there are people out their voting for him solely because he is black.  Are they bigots too? (which as I stated earlier I have not voted for anyone yet).

What I am trying to do right now is research some of what Nostradamus predicted.  It seems like I remember he had said something about what would happen to America.  He predicted a lot from World Wars ad Hitler coming to rise, to the Twin Towers falling.  Yes, I know some of his predictions did not come true, but he had more right than wrong.  So I’m curious and researching some of his predictions to see if there is anything about the US and what will happen to our country.  My husband says he believes there is.  If I find something I can post if anyone is interested.

What I am wondering and starting to believe more and more is maybe this is our time and its up.  If you believe in Armageddon or Nostradamus or another other future events maybe it’s already set in stone that our time has come.  Maybe we have lived a little too much of “the good life” and now its time for a transformation in America and that is why Obama will get in.  Some of us believe we may not “deserve” it and a lot of people probably think its nonsense, but we have to remember we thought we would never be attacked before 9/11 either.  So, I’m not saying I think we deserve it, but just a thought that maybe our time has come.  So wonder if others think this way too, or am I just hitting heavy on the “Ju-Ju Juice”.  HA HA

Would like to hear your thoughts.  Please no slams.  I tried not to slam any of the candidates so nobody would get offended.  There’s plenty I don’t like about all of them, and some I do like about all of them.  I just feel really mixed up right now and wonder if others are like me (or am I just weird).

Nope, and I realize trying to point out the double standard...
to a Democrat is an exercise in futility but I thought I would give it a shot....
Oops, meant "not clueless." Perhaps I'm not clueless but need to brush up on

New Movie Out.. Not just Clueless but Totally Clueless
starring gt as the whining liberal elitist with the chihuahua.
I'd say I'm clueless at all....

What is with the aversion to telling the truth, or at least providing sources for your claims?  Please, do a different dance than most of the neocons and provide some worthy evidence!!!!  That is all I'm asking.

Not really a hateful person at all....just tired of folks who do not value honesty, that's all.

Clueless!

Clueless!!!!!

no wonder the democrats are in such bad shape. you have no idea of the workings of the dow!  Man on manoschevitz!

You are obviously clueless since you have
remotely intelligent. I have a feeling it's because you haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about and you are only here because you love to stir up trash. You enjoy wallowing in that heap. I'll find someone who is capable of engaging in true debate and not looking to get their kicks with juvenile behavior.
TO clueless........
I am sick and tired of putting money in the hands of people who refuse to get off their butts. I do not want to pay for their many many children while they sit at home and wait for the Headstart bus to give their child curbside service so they can have a babysitter for their child all day long, while they do nothing to better themselves, even though they can go back to school during this time, get an education, H@LL FIRE, get a job. Most of these folks are within walking distances to a job but they don't want one because that would mean having to pay their own way in life. They have better than many members of my family who have actually worked their entire lives and haven't asked for a handout while they sit and watch neighbors living in HUD houses, tear them up, party all day and all night, children running rampant all over the place....it's sickening really.

When you see your paycheck dwindle to nothing, just know you can be proud in saying you contributed to the welfare roll.
Wow - you really ARE clueless.
I don't give two poos about gay marriage. So YOUR negaitive energy is misdirected.

I have this mental picture of you.

It looks a lot like Gollum.
You are truly clueless..........
I said there are blacks in my community that do NOT take advanatage of the opportunities afforded them. And, please, no kid around here is choosing to sell drugs to support their families. I was born very poor and I have better since than to sell drugs or steal.

You need to get off your righteous high horse and get a clue. Being poor is no excuse, NO EXCUSE, for murdering innocent people because you want a dollar in your pocket. I didn't have a say in when I arrived either, but I sure as heck know the difference between right and wrong.

BTW, these poor kids's government is not there to SUPPORT them, even though my tax dollars do just that! That attitude is the problem with the thinking of those that think they are "entitled" to more free money. You obviously feel you need the government to make your living and do your thinking for you as well as these kids. Their government is supposed to be there for the purpose of providing a strong military to support the safety of our country, not pay their way through life!!!

There are plenty of poor white kids around here....I spend time in our schools and believe me, there are many poor kids of both colors. Crimes are committed by those of both races, but the greatest number are by blacks. If you don't like those numbers, too bad; those are the facts. Those gangs which you seem to think so highly of only support one thing......more CRIME!
You need to get yourself into one of our schools around here and ask some of the children what they want to be when they grow up......you would be shocked to hear the answers. Some people just live in a dream world. Continue to feel sorry for their situation and encourage that behavior; your attitude does just that.

Clueless......
And who voted for GW? Hahahaha! I'm glad we have mental giants such as you who can sum it all up for us! You sho must make a LOT of money to support all those lazy people out there.
CLUELESS = NOTHING TO SAY!

Clueless
Why don't you stick to commenting on things you actually have a clue about? I'm sure that the president was intricately involved in all aspects of the strategy for this rescue operation, even though you didn't hear about it.
LOL.....totally clueless. So, gt.....sm
It only matters to you if a Republican's ancient ancestor was in cahoots with Hitler.  But Democrats can skate, right?  Right!  Gotcha!
You are clueless and hateful

You just proved how clueless you are

You really are clueless aren't you?
There is a word for rising up against your government and our founding fathers made sure the CITIZENS of this country, who OWN their government, had in place a constitution which actually ALLOWED us to rise up and speak AGAINST our government if EVER we felt our government was out of control.

That's why the 'right to bear arms' was put in there or did you overlook that too?

You are so diluded in your thinking that you actually BELIEVE no one is supposed to speak out against their government. Do you know WHY our founding fathers wanted to make sure Americans had firearms? To stand up and resist a tyranical government when it is out of control.

You better be glad somebody cares enough for your backside that they still understand what your rights are, cause you SURE DON'T!

You have no problem with anyone speaking against our government; you have a problem with someone speaking against THIS president, cause he is black and you can't stand it! If you do nothing else, be honest about that at least.... it's so obvious!
You are truly one clueless person.

You are truly one clueless person.

You are welcome. (and totally clueless but who cares). nm

Whatever...you are so clueless...You wouldn't know the right context...sm
if it bit you on the butt. Too bad, soooo sad.

Yet more confirmation that Georgie is clueless.
Bush Unaware of Ports Deal Before Approval

By TED BRIDIS, Associated Press Writer 45 minutes ago

President Bush was unaware of the pending sale of shipping operations at six major U.S. seaports to a state-owned business in the United Arab Emirates until the deal already had been approved by his administration, the White House said Wednesday.

Defending the deal anew, the administration also said that it should have briefed Congress sooner about the transaction, which has triggered a major political backlash among both Republicans and Democrats.

Bush on Tuesday brushed aside objections by leaders in the Senate and House that the $6.8 billion sale could raise risks of terrorism at American ports. In a forceful defense of his administration's earlier approval of the deal, he pledged to veto any bill Congress might approve to block the agreement involving the sale of a British company to the Arab firm.

Bush faces a rebellion from leaders of his own party, as well as from Democrats, about the deal that would put Dubai Ports in charge of major shipping operations in New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, New Orleans, Miami and Philadelphia.

While Bush has adamantly defended the deal, the White House acknowledged that he did not know about it until recently.

He became aware of it over the last several days, McClellan said. Asked if Bush did not know about it until it was a done deal, McClellan said, That's correct. He said the matter did not rise to the presidential level, but went through a congressionally-mandated review process and was determined not to pose a national security threat.

The president made sure to check with all the Cabinet secretaries that are part of this process, or whose agencies or departments are part of this process, the spokesman said. He made sure to check with them — even after this got more attention in the press, to make sure that they were comfortable with the decision that was made.

And every one of the Cabinet secretaries expressed that they were comfortable with this transaction being approved, he said.

Commerce Secretary Carlos Guiterrez, told The Associated Press in an interview: They are not in charge of security. We are not turning over the security of our ports. When people make statements like that you get an instant emotional reaction.

The sale's harshest critics were not appeased.

I will fight harder than ever for this legislation, and if it is vetoed I will fight as hard as I can to override it, said Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y., chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. King and Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer (news, bio, voting record) of New York said they will introduce emergency legislation to suspend the ports deal.

Another Democrat, Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, urged his colleagues to force Bush to wield his veto, which Bush — in his sixth year in office — has never done. We should really test the resolve of the president on this one because what we're really doing is securing the safety of our people.

McClellan dismissed any connection between the deal and David Sanborn of Virginia, a former senior DP World executive whom the White House appointed last month to be the new administrator of the Maritime Administration of the Transportation Department. Sanborn worked as DP World's director of operations for Europe and Latin America.

My understanding is that he has assured us that he was not involved in the negotiations to purchase this British company, McClellan added.

In terms of David Sanborn, he was nominated to run the Maritime Administration because of his experience and expertise, the spokesman said. Sanborn is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He is an operations professional.

Earlier, several lawmakers determined to capsize the pending sale said they would not be deterred by Bush's veto threat.

Sen. Joseph Biden (news, bio, voting record), D-Del., said the bipartisan opposition to the deal indicated a lack of confidence in the administration on both sides. Sure, we have to link up with our Arab friends but ... we want to see and those in Congress want to know what ... safeguards are built in, Biden said on ABC's Good Morning America.

Bush's veto threat sought to quiet a political storm that has united Republican governors and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee with liberal Democrats, including New York Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Schumer.

To assuage concerns, the administration disclosed some assurances it negotiated with Dubai Ports. It required mandatory participation in U.S. security programs to stop smuggling and detect illegal shipments of nuclear materials; roughly 33 other port companies participate in these voluntarily. The Coast Guard also said it was nearly finished inspecting Dubai Ports' facilities in the United States.

Frist said Tuesday, before Bush's comments, that he would introduce legislation to put the sale on hold if the White House did not delay the takeover. He said the deal raised serious questions regarding the safety and security of our homeland.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., asked the president for a moratorium on the sale until it could be studied further. We must not allow the possibility of compromising our national security due to lack of review or oversight by the federal government, Hastert said.

Bush took the rare step of calling reporters to his conference room on Air Force One after returning from a speech in Colorado. He also stopped to talk before television cameras after he returned to the White House.

He said that members of Congress need to know that our government has looked at this issue and looked at it carefully.

A senior executive from Dubai Ports World pledged the company would agree to whatever security precautions the U.S. government demanded to salvage the deal. Chief operating officer Edward Ted H. Bilkey promised Dubai Ports will fully cooperate in putting into place whatever is necessary to protect the terminals.

Lawmakers from both parties have noted that some of the Sept. 11 hijackers used the United Arab Emirates as an operational and financial base. In addition, critics contend the UAE was an important transfer point for shipments of smuggled nuclear components sent to Iran, North Korea and Libya by a Pakistani scientist.

W's clueless response is equally as disturbing.
"So what if the guy threw his shoe at me?" Bush told a reporter in response to a question about the incident.

"Let me talk about the guy throwing his shoe. It's one way to gain attention. It's like going to a political rally and having people yell at you. It's like driving down the street and having people not gesturing with all five fingers. ...These journalists here were very apologetic. They ... said this doesn't represent the Iraqi people, but that's what happens in free societies where people try to draw attention to themselves."

So what? How many agree that this guy was seeking attention? Only on the W planet would the alleged leader of the free world be so unconscious and so casual about this deepest of insults. Who cares? Not W, evidently.

You're sarcastically clueless. Any chance you could buy a clue?

If you took a second out of your I love Bush, and nobody else cloud, you would see that we do care about our soldiers, our countrymen.  But, you're so full of the Bush Kool-Aid you can't see straight. Did you even read the article???  You obviously didn't from your response.  Knowledge is a powerful thing.  It's not just liberals feeling this way about Bush and his war, the country is at a divide and more people support his impeachment than those who supported Clinton's impeachment that by the way republicans pursued on their own to defame the president in front of the world any all and any cost. So you can save your do the right thing speech.

Why does Obama winning make Americans clueless?...nm
ss
Yes, of course I realize
I do not wish to perseverate on this topic any more.  I have said how I feel and that I was in error.
Yes, I realize that, but
they were Christians and lived with those principles.  They weren't fanatics, but they were faithful in their beliefs without forcing others.  I guess my point is no leader of this country is going to try to convert anybody to do anything.  But this country was based on Christian values.  That's all I am saying.
But what you don't realize
is $250,000 is not rich. My father-in-law owns a construction business, and his business makes that much a year, but after paying insurance, employees, etc, it is not much of a profit. He has enough to own a nice home (one story, three bedrooms, two baths, nothing fancy) and a decent truck. He isn't rich by any means. He also goes out and works his butt off literally from dusk to dawn every day. At 61 years old he is still out there building houses keeping up with the young bucks he hires. Why is it fair that after 30 years of doing this he is now going to be taxed more to give to others? Mind you he already gives the shirt off his back to anyone who needs it and has done so much work for free for people in need it would make your head spin. There are many, many others out there like him that will be punished for working hard. It's not right.

I agree that companies like Exxon and Mobil should be looked into. It's not right for them to make record profits when we are struggling. It's not right for the corporations we just bailed out to be out on vacation on the money we just gave them. But those companies are making MILLIONS if not BILLIONS a year. Not a quarter of a million. Quarter of a million is small business owners. If we are so tired of the big corporations, the last thing we need to do is tax small business more. That will cause them to shut down and then all we will have to deal with is the huge corporations. If the local computer repair shops closes down, then eventually all you will have to deal with is Microsoft or Apple. And I don't know if you've dealt with them recently or at all, but they charge way more than any local shop I know and their customer service stinks. That's just one example though.

If O wants to tax someone, go after the big companies. Make the corporations we just bailed out pay back the money since they are obviously just out having a hay day with it. Don't punish small business. That's what (should) drive this country.

Do you realize........sm
that Iraq/Iran/Afganistan are in the area that is referred to as "The Cradle of Civilization?" This is the area of the world that we need to watch as I believe there will be a lot of activity there over the ensuing years.
I realize that there are only so many

words that rhyme with white, but the thing I find disturbing are the double standards.  For example, Reverend Wright (not to beat a dead horse so please forgive me) but if a white reverend said the kind of racist things he said about the black community, whoever white political figure attended that church for any amount of time would have had their career ruined.  If a church had the same values that Wright's did but you exchanged black for the word white, that church would have been labeled as a racist church....KKK....etc.  If a white reverend had given a benediction and said anything remotely like what Lowery did, not only would the race card have been thrown out, it would have been all over the news, the outrage from the black community would have been everywhere, and I'm sure a public apology would have had to have been made.

As a younger white female, I understand the history as far as the facts go.  Did I experience it...no.  However, I have experienced racism in my own personal life with having some things done to me from a black person for no reason other than the color of my skin.  Do I judge all black people by the ones who were racist towards me....of course not.  There are good and bad in all races.  As a white person, I feel I have embraced what is right.  I treat people like I would want to be treated no matter what they look like or the color of their skin.  So to be lumped into the category Lowery lumped me into.....well...that is offensive to me.

The comments made by black rappers and celebs saying things like....no more white lies...my president is black and using the N- word.  All very offensive to me especially to think that people use them as role models.

And not to burst their bubble.....President Obama is half white.  So going by what they were spewing about not trusting white people and their lies....well I guess they can only trust Obama 50% of the time then since technically he is half white.  Hmm....funny how no one ever mentions his mixed race and just merely focus on the color of his skin and give him the title of a black man.

I realize that....
I saw their summer homes in Ft. Lauderdale (the size of small cities), their yachts that cost millions and millions of dollars, spit shined, with names like "Never Enough." Since this country has made them so successful, why can't they forgo their tax break to help out their gardners and maids? They have more money than they could ever spend. No resentment here. They either earned it, stole it or was married/born into it. I am sure all of their stock investments either dived or they were forewarned and bailed before the crash hit. The whole country came together and worked as a team during world war II. EVERYONE sacrificed. Now it's every man for himself. I guess we can't expect that kind of heroism of anyone in this day and age.
Wonder what it will take to get everybody else to realize this? nm

I didn't realize they were even doing that

until I saw her post, which nobody can help but see when they try to get to the political boards.  Now she's denying doing it, so go figure, eh?

They must be getting desperate, and remembering how they got others banned on here, if you suddenly stop seeing posts from me, you'll know they got me banned, as well.

Just in case this is the last post I'm allowed to post here, I just want to point out that in my original post above, I never once singled out a single person or poster.  I was speaking in general terms.  It was then that they started copying and pasting my posts  on theri board and posting their attacks, singling ME out and mentioning my moniker.

I'm also sorry for any trashing YOU might get from them simply because you're being nice to me.  I've noticed you're also suddenly one of their targets now.

I hope you have a wonderful evening wherever you are, too.

Wondering if you realize....
that every single one of the comments you are talking about were directed at me, and there are quite a few others. Just wondering if you know how they made me genuinely feel. Just wondering.
I guess I realize that

Well, of course, you couldn't have known.  But I guess my whole point is that when we fling personal barbs amidst the political barbs we never know what or whom those arrows are hitting.  And not to say I am blameless either.  I reach a boiling point when I see certain posters picked on cruelly who (in my mind) really only have the betterment (sp?) of society and the human race at the forefront of their concerns and have gently posted those concerns on a liberal board, only to be picked apart for their belief system.  Unfortunately it seems to be human nature.

No more philosophizing here.
