You have to look at different areas

Where I live, welfare abuse is rampant. It's disgusting. Half of our town is HUD housing, but when you drive by there are nice new vehicles and always like ten people sitting on the porch. My husband used to hook up cable for a living and he would go in and they'd have huge flat screen tv's and brand new furniture and there would be all kinds of folks coming in and out. Plus, they would put the cable in their kids name so they wouldn't get caught!

We also had a neighbor who was "on disability". He tells us he has a bad ankle and can't work after we just sat and watched him play street football for an hour! Ankle looked reeeaaallll baaddd. Psh.

I agree wholeheartedly with helping those who have fallen on hard times. My dad is facing job loss right now, he's expecting an axe in the next couple of weeks (he sells construction supplies). He's paid his taxes all his life, bought a small house when he could have had bigger, has never owned a new vehicle, and he'll be 58 next year. BUT he also made sure he saved for a rainy day, and thankfully he has enough in savings to pay off his house if he does lose his job. A big problem is no one saves anymore! I'm guilty of it myself, we don't have a savings, hopefully that will change soon. But everyone wants to keep up with the Joneses, and that's what's gotten the nation in so much trouble!

We need to become a nation of frugality for awhile. Spend wisely, spend locally, buy American (if you can find it!) Companies need to quit trying to cut costs with foreign employment, and people need to quit buying things they can't afford!
