Don't you wish that me and half the nation which shares this view
x
No, I do not see irony in this and calling him a half and half?
I have a mixed daughter and she thanked me 1 time, saying "I have the best of both worlds." Perhaps he feels the same- it is not a put down of 1 side or the other- if you don’t understand now, you probably never will. It is the black that dominates as a color, not the white- therefore lots of mixed people go by the stronger of the 2 colors, has nothing to do with if they are pleased or trying to put down 1 side. I think this is such a trivial matter, myself. What in the world does it matter where he was born or where he lived? Why would you call him a half and half- you my sweetie are showing a lot of racism. Get yourself under better control, ok? You can have a stroke by getting out of sorts like you are doing. You seem to be fuming.
I see nothing racist about half and half......
@2
That's what I'm planning. LOL (nm)
x
That's what I'm planning to do.
I'm so sick of hearing about this already, I don't plan on watching.
I just heard on TV that he's not planning

on talking about the war in Iraq, per se, but more about the war on terror.

Does this mean he's targeted another country to "spread freedom" to?  With 74% of the American public thinking Iraq was a mistake, I'd LOVE to see him try to sell another war to this Congress, after all his lies the first time.

Having 9/11 being an inside job is only a notch or two lower than using that tragedy to promote his own personal war against Iraq, so I don't think it would surprise me.

I don't know if I can stomach watching him or not, so I haven't decided yet.

If he is already planning a 2M party
he's pretty much announced that he is going to win too...

and during the last debate he said a bunch of times "when I am president"

Goes both ways.
I am not talking about YOUR family planning...
it is the additional life that is created that I am talking about who, in my opinion, has every much as right to life as YOU do. Period. If you could stop for one minute and realize, it is not all about YOU. Or perhaps that is the problem. You absolutely think it IS all about YOU.
JM may be planning but we're not hearing about it
Every day in the news is talk of Obama's $2M party.
OMG! Look what low-life Obama is planning to do!!

Such bad, bad taste!  Such a disrespectful man!  (I forget...what are the other names he's been called by his honor-challenged haters?)

Dinner Honoring McCain to Be Hosted by Obama

Saturday, January 10, 2009; 2:30 PM

President-elect Barack Obama will host a dinner honoring Sen. John McCain, the Republican he tromped in the election, the night before his inauguration, the Presidential Inaugural Committee announced yesterday, saying the gesture demonstrates Obama's "commitment to bridging the bipartisan divide."

The dinner will be one of a series that night: Gen. Colin Powell and Vice President-elect Joe Biden also will be feted.

"In these times of great challenge and great change, leadership requires rising above the same old narrow partisanship," Obama said on the PIC Web site. "Each of these distinguished Americans has spent his life in service to his country, at each and every moment placing the interests of America before issues of political party."

Congressional leaders from both parties will attend the dinners at the National Building Museum, Union Station and the Hilton Washington.

Do you know how long the terrorists were planning that?
That was their second attack on the towers.

The first time, they rented a truck and tried to knock the towers down by detonating it in the underground parking garage.
When that failed, they regrouped, formed another plan, and meticulously set it in motion. Took years, but they accomplished their objectives, save for that heroic United flight.

The problem with Americans is that they have very short attention spans. They think if the war's not over in 2 or 3 years, it's 'old news' and they move on. If it's not on their TV screens every night, with flashing lights and music like an MTV video, they can't process the information. Out of sight, out of mind. Like the victims of 911 and the noble men and women fighting the war on terror. All forgotten, for the most part, by an impatient, clock-watching public.

Terrorists, on the other hand, know a little something about watching and waiting. In a religious war like they're fighting, time is measured in centuries.

So, I'm sorry, but your little theory just doesn't hold water, and was naive in the extreme.

The simple truth is that there has not been another attack on US soil since Bush has been in office.

Why don't you try to sound just a teensy bit thankful that your hide is safe, and not in a foxhole somewhere, or digging out of the rubble of a bombed-out apartment complex? A little dose of humility, and reality, goes a long way.
Disability is one thing...poor planning is another
I'm sorry for your situation, and I do believe people who cannot work due to a disability should have help. I'm not heartless. I'm really kind of stumped, because I thought employers and insurance companies could no longer deny/discriminate people a job and/or insurance because of pre-existing conditions. I know that you can't get disability insurance with pre-existing conditions, but again, it's my understanding that no one can be denied health insurance because of pre-existing conditions. My husband has diabetes and has changed jobs in the last five years and has gotten ins. with no problem.

The problem with most socialized medicine is that if you have a serious condition, say like cancer, at some point they quit treating you. This is what is happening in the U.K. as we speak. So, in a round about way that's being denied health care altogether. You have to then seek it out of pocket, and most of the time you have to leave your home country to pay for it out of pocket.

Unfortunately, health care is not a right. It's a privilege. Again, the problem with U.S. health care is the government at it's core, and it will only get worse if the government is given full management over it.

What part of my family planning is NOYB
Not worth drawing a single breath in response.
On 3/17, Specter denied planning to switch. Here's the quote:
(Link provided below)

In a March 17th interview with The Hill, Specter said he absolutely would not switch parties:

"[Democrats] are trying very hard for the 60th vote. Got to give them credit for trying. But the answer is no.

I'm not going to discuss private talks I had with other people who may or may not be considered influential. But since those three people are in the public domain, I think it is appropriative to respond to those questions.

I am staying a Republican because I think I have an important role, a more important role, to play there. The United States very desperately needs a two-party system. That's the basis of politics in America. I'm afraid we are becoming a one-party system, with Republicans becoming just a regional party with so little representation of the northeast or in the middle atlantic. I think as a governmental matter, it is very important to have a check and balance. That's a very important principle in the operation of our government. It's in the Constitution on separation of powers."

Thanks for the civics lecture, Arlen. Apparently this is just another one of those "inconvenient truths" that got to be more than you could actually live with, eh buddy?

*Heckuvajob Brownie* starts disaster planning firm
Ex-FEMA Head Starts Disaster Planning Firm

Former FEMA Director Michael Brown, heavily criticized for his agency's slow response to Hurricane Katrina, is starting a disaster preparedness consulting firm to help clients avoid the sort of errors that cost him his job.

If I can help people focus on preparedness, how to be better prepared in their homes and better prepared in their businesses — because that goes straight to the bottom line — then I hope I can help the country in some way, Brown told the Rocky Mountain News for its Thursday editions.

Brown said officials need to take inventory of what's going on in a disaster to be able to answer questions to avoid appearing unaware of how serious a situation is.

In the aftermath of the hurricane, critics complained about Brown's lack of formal emergency management experience and e-mails that later surfaced showed him as out of touch with the extent of the devastation.

The lawyer admits that while he was head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency mistakes were made in the response to Katrina. He also said he had been planning to quit before the hurricane hit.

Hurricane Katrina showed how bad disasters can be, and there's an incredible need for individuals and businesses to understand how important preparedness is, he said.

Brown said companies already have expressed interested in his consulting business, Michael D. Brown LLC. He plans to run it from the Boulder area, where he lived before joining the Bush administration in 2001.

I'm doing a lot of good work with some great clients, Brown said. My wife, children and my grandchild still love me. My parents are still proud of me.

Maybe if we all supported family planning and free contraceptives - WORLD WIDE - abortion would no l
And I know of not a single person who thinks abortion is "wonderful", only an occasionally necessary evil.
haha
nastiest poster on the board - I am glad you have accepted your new name with grace Gladfly! You made me smile ;-)

Peace.

Haha where can I get one of those??
Sorry just thought it was funny :)

C'mon, you know that if McCain/Palin wins you guys and gals who voted for Obama/Biden will want one too!
haha
Getting a little defensive. Looks like Joe caught onto your game, just like many of us on this board have. Maybe you should re-read your posts. Hahah!
HaHa I get it...
it's spreading the wealth! The yard had two, so if she gets one, then they both have one!! :)
Haha. Sorry.
I guess I'm just so, so, so tired of seeing all of this question about Obama's birthplace silliness (and I haven't really spoken out about it at all until now). I just assumed you were questioning the entire judgment, because I was prepared for someone to do that. But you know what happens when you assume.

My bad. Sorry.
HaHa
that is good! I've heard that before with other names in place of theirs, can't think of who (I think Cheney and someone).

I just can't imagine Obama duck hunting though!

BTW I got an early birthday present this week from my mom...a new shotgun, so now I don't have to be my hubby's bird dog when we go dove hunting! :)

I hope I get to use it before they're all taken away! LOL

And with the cost of meat at the supermarket right now you better bet your bottom dollar we are eating a whole lot of dove and deer this year!

Still no crow though.... ;)
Haha! And the truth is...
...the conservatives weren't interested in discussing issues on the old board, they got their jollies by harrassing and persecuting anyone THEY perceived as a liberal. Talk about label-slapping. Once you were diagnosed, look out - the subject of the whole board became get the liberal.

I suspect the board was separated because the Cons wouldn't leave the monitors alone, wanting this liberal and that liberal kicked off the board. They also screamed incessantly that they wished all the lousy liberals would leave them alone! So they got their wish:) They have their own board, but apparently they bore one another silly and have to come here to bother us, proving that they really did like it more the way it used to be.

Now they cry that it was the liberals' fault - LOL - despite the fact they wouldn't allow any liberals to stay on the board for more than a few weeks at a time. They complained once too often and got just a little too bold about it, and now, well - we have been separated. The liberals seem to like this arrangement, I know I do. Look at who's griping about it and you'll find the real source of the original trouble.
haha.... that's pretty LOW! That should be
(Though the latter does more closely resemble my own yearly income......)
Haha - see what I mean? It's like an OCD thing

Oh my! haha - you took the words right out of

haha reply to my own message
i did NOT see her imply is what i meant to say.
Haha! American Woman rocks.

haha--I agree with Luker completely--
This War against Christmas stuff is asinine! What a perfect way to take people's minds the real issues affecting our country (like Bush and Cheney trying to expand the powers of the presidency). People have always said happy holidays as long as I can remember and I'm almost 50 myself. BIG DEAL!!
Haha, these aggressive posts are too funny...
one thing to be assertive but these nasty comments, too much, and way too typical...outta here, good luck TTP
Haha - I guess this poster goes to bed with the chickens
.
Haha! It always seems the people with the biggest flag-

seem to recall someone else protecing herself again a WITCH...haha
hmmm, real sound judgment there. So if Palin wins and decides to seek advice from shamans or witchdoctors, you are okay with that?
Haha! I so agree, she summed it up in 1 sentence, there is nothing more to say!..nm
nm
Haha - I was talking about firing people who disagree with her
but you must know her personally regarding that issue.
Haha - how 'bout "rich peoples' fat wallets first?"

I had a friend on Right Nation who went down there. SM
He lives about an hour away.  He did not gestimate anywhere even close to that.
A great nation. sm

As an outsider, I could give you another perspective and one not nearly so dire as yours.  However, I also realise that my view is slanted as I simply adore this country and Americans in general.  In short, given the information at his disposal, George Bush’s decision to oust Saddam looks altogether reasonable--though, again, not necessarily right. To argue otherwise demonstrates both ignorance and bad faith. So what are we to make of the downward spiral of sectarian mayhem that is currently drawing Iraq into the abyss? The violence seems senseless to us . . . but perhaps that’s the point. Perhaps our enemies recognize that the great exploitable weakness of the American military is that, in the wake of Vietnam, the American public’s grasp of geo-politics runs only as deep as the lyrics to Bob Dylan’s “Blowing in the Wind.” This is a weakness every bit as real, and every bit as deadly, as a missile with a faulty guidance system or a tank that stalls in its tracks--and it will remain a real weakness until the American public is knocked upside the head a sufficient number of times to outgrow it. What the degeneration of the mission in Iraq indicates most profoundly is that one 9/11 was not enough to crack through the platitudes of the late 1960s--which are deeply embedded in the universities, television networks and editorial pages of major newspapers. There remains, in such circles, the delusion that the jihadists are ultimately live and let live types, that totalitarian Islam will eventually just peter out, that the principles of the European Enlightenment will simply dawn on a billion Muslims without us cramming them down their throats. This may in the end prove the deadliest error in geo-political judgment Americans have ever made. Members of the genocidally well-meaning baby-boom generation will likely go to their graves believing they “gave peace a chance,” having spared themselves the anguish of killing hundreds of thousand Muslims . . .  and likely bequeathed to their children and grandchildren the anguish of killing scores of millions.

the nation really isn't interested

It's just a device used by the neocons to keep the attention of the stifled.  They know that the repressed loonies in the county slobber over anything pertaining to sex.  Just look at O'Reilly.  Nearly every night he has some story about prostitutes, strip clubs, girls gone wild -- he is complaining how horrible it is, yet they always have tapes behind him of half-naked coeds grinding away.  If it is so horrible, must we see the tapes over and over?

We are not a nation of businesses.

I am with you, Shelly. Also, it seems our nation is

I think it's a symbol of what our nation has become
Greed...from the top to the bottom.  You couldn't pay me enough to get me to go out on Black Friday.
Obviously we are a divided nation.
Do not see how any of this will work. With no republican vote, that speaks volumes to me. Obviously cannot work together or see eye to eye with the future.
#1, The Nation is extremely partisan. #2.

Tillman didn't talk about why he went into the service to anyone.  We will have to assume that what his mother is saying is true.  Has the wife spoken out?  I would think if he told his deepest heart's secrets, it would be to her.  She was his high school sweetheart.  Here's a snippet from a Newsweek article.

He joined the service just after a honeymoon to Bora Bora with his high-school sweetheart, Marie. He and a younger brother, Kevin, slipped off to enlist in Denver, where they could avoid publicity. Kevin, who gave up a budding minor-league baseball career, remains in the Army. Pat Tillman wanted no attention, no glory, for joining the rank and file. He didn't want to be singled out from his brothers and sisters in the military, says former Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis. Tillman apparently had made a pact with his family to stay silent about his service, a promise they have kept. They have gathered to grieve inside the comfortable family home in a leafy enclave of San Jose.

His was no simple case of patriotism; Tillman was never known as a flag-waver. His agent, Frank Bauer, told reporters he had suspected that Tillman might quit to teach or to practice law like his father, Patrick Sr., but not to join the military. Snyder, his college coach, said Tillman never used the word patriotism when he explained his plans to enlist. He just seemed to think something had to be done. When players asked why he enlisted, he didn't want to talk about it. McGinnis says there were reasons Pat said he had that he didn't want to divulge, and the coach respected his view and his right to make his own path. Tillman had always been different. When he joined the pros, he rode a bicycle to practice because he didn't own a car. He refused to buy a cell phone. A sports publicist at Arizona State once described him as a surfer dude.

It seems his mother decided the pact no longer had any merit.  Personally, I see another Cindy Sheehan, disobeying her son's wishes.

Prayer vigil for our nation
I posted this on the Faith board but I also wanted to post it here just in case...

The North American Mission Board has started a prayer vigil for our nation before the election. If you want to participate there is a sign up and prayer guide at

http://ilivevalues.com/prayer

It's 40 days of prayer and then 40 hours of prayer at the end. Check it out! I think it will really do some good and if God's people work together and call out to Him together to heal our nation, He said He would hear us and do so!

Have a great day!

God Bless!

p.s. this wasn't meant to start a riot or to have a bunch of people who don't believe in prayer or God to get up in arms, it's just for those who would like to participate, so please don't go there. Thanks!
