But there is an update on this sm
Subject: But there is an update on this sm

The update is this:

Follow up (2 words) is the verb usage. The pt will follow up in the office next week.

Followup (1 word) as in The pt is here for followup.

Follow-up is when it proceeds a noun, like the compound modifier rule. The pt is here for her follow-up appointment.

It was news to me yesterday, but there it is.

There have been a couple of AAMT BOS2 addendums. They want to do away with q.d. and q.4h. now has to have a space after the q. so it is q. 4h. Pain in the neck all of this...

Update on motalakian..
Subject: Update on motalakian..

I found these on further searches:

Tangent screen exam
Automated perimetry exam
Goldmann visual field exam
Humphrey visual field exam

This is not an ESL dictator but I just bet "tularakian" and "motalakian" are some forms of the above visual field testing names that he has said so often that he just runs it all together. The dictation is gone now but I've bookmarked the above, maybe they will help someone else who gets this same strange-sounding garble. Thanks!

New Paxiva® service launched in Germany today

Royal Philips Electronics today announced the launch of its new personal telemedicine service in Germany. This consumer-oriented service will provide sufferers of heart disease and those people who are (potentially) at high risk of heart disease with round the clock reassurance and fast, reliable action in case of emergency - all via one simple telephone call to the Philips HeartCare Telemedicine Services Monitoring Centre, which opened today in Düsseldorf. This new service demonstrates how Philips' technologies can improve the quality of people's lives, and how healthcare is moving further into the customer domain.

The Paxiva® cardiac service, which links users to a team of qualified and experienced medical staff - under supervision of cardiologists - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week offers subscribers an easy to use, accurate and portable handheld ECG transmitter. This transmitter forwards a snapshot of their heart condition - via telephone - to the Philips HeartCare Telemedicine Services Monitoring Centre.

Based on the data collected at previous intake and diagnosis and the data from the current ECG transmission, the staff at the Monitoring Centre can quickly evaluate the user's heart situation and provide advice, reassurance, or emergency action.

A new service from Philips whether you're at home, at work or on the move

"The Paxiva® service puts you personally in charge of your health by providing absolute confidence that help is only a phone-call away, whether you're at home, at work, out shopping or on holiday. The technology couldn't be easier to use, and is tailored specifically for the user", said Jeroen Cammeraat, CEO of Philips HeartCare Telemedicine Services Europe.

There will be two choices of ECG monitor available, the Outpac® and the Viapac®. The Outpac® is a wallet-sized device with two electrodes, which has been specifically designed to transmit a one lead ECG rhythm via telephone (mobile or regular) to the Philips HeartCare Telemedicine Services Monitor Centre. The Viapac® is a device designed to be used at home. It has a 12 personal ECG transmitter, which transmits a hospital standard ECG via a regular or mobile phone.

A study carried out by SHL, Philips' joint venture partner in Israel, reveals that speed is the key to limit damage to the heart, and avoid future heart problems that can lead to a heart attack. "The Paxiva® service can be of help at several moments in the life of a heart patient. Our aim is to provide peace of mind by monitoring and helping to identify heart related problems before they become serious – working as a partner in the care provided by doctors and specialists", Mr. Cammeraat added.

Professor Dr. Harald Korb, Medical Director of the Philips HeartCare Telemedicine Services Centre said: "An ageing population, increasing healthcare costs, and the acceptance of technology in the home means that Germany is ready for personalized telemedicine services. Together with the direct involvement of doctors and specialists, the Philips HeartCare Telemedicine Service allows patients to take more ownership and responsibility for their own health. Telemedicine has the potential to significantly improve the quality of healthcare, and is paving the way for a new kind of relationship between the individual and their health professional – increasing accessibility and efficiency”, he added.

Subscribers to the Paxiva® service attend a medical intake session at the Philips Telemedicine Monitoring Centre in Düsseldorf before they join the service. Philips has over 100 years experience in providing high quality diagnostic imaging equipment to the medical community.

The Paxiva® Service has been successfully used in Israel over the last 14 years by Philips HeartCare Telemedicine Services' partner SHL. Currently the service has over 60,000 subscribers.
