I just found VFFTC on there as I couldn't remember it and was having a major brain cramp. Always remember if it sounds like "B" it could be "V" and check both.

This site has helped me out a lot with those docs that like to abbreviate everything.

I actually had one doc that dictated, as fast as he could talk, under physical exam, WDWNLAM with no clue as to what part of the PE he was getting at. It took me a minute to realize he was abbrieviating "well developed, well nourished Latin American Male."

I also like this one http://www.bloodbook.com/ranges.html#BLOOD

It doesn't have too many lab values listed, but it is a good quick reference.

Great site for anything medical, abbrevs, Rx, etc.
Subject: Great site for anything medical, abbrevs, Rx, etc.

I think I use the following site more than anything else. It's a great all-around site for all things medical, but the abbreviation look-up is awesome! You can also look up abbrevs by definition. It also has a medical dictionary, ICD9 code search, Rx look-up, US Rx drug spelling, skin conditions, hospitals worldwide, medical associations, and more!

TX DOI site has Workers', MO DOI site has Workers (no apostrophe), CA DOI has Workers'
Subject: TX DOI site has Workers', MO DOI site has Workers (no apostrophe), CA DOI has Workers'

Most state's department of insurance sites seem to use Workers'. I have not seen Workman or Workmen in any form. I hope this helps.
Great new gal.
You had a great question, and you are going to be a great MT.  If my response sounded a little cranky, I did not mean to be.  My point is after 25 years, I am not in the business of practicing medicine, and my inclination is that the doc, being a good doc, removed the colostomy bag and examined the colostomy site; and what he actually meant was, "no blood coming from colostomy site".  But to add the word  site or bag, when he said neither, gets into the business of practicing medicine and that is not our business. The best thing to do is put the responsibility back on him and go verbatim.  You are going to be a great MT, I worried to death about things exactly like this 25 years ago.  Good luck and come on the board anytime, plenty of people helped me, and still do.

I do think it must be organism/bacteria, and you probably have them right. But how do they expect us to know what they are talking about when they throw out obscure acronyms like that?

Thanks again!
