I didn't even realize they were both correct - I have

always used "bingeing" - I think because years ago "binging" wasn't accepted by my spellcheck, but "bingeing" was, so I've just stuck with it.

Can you give a sentence to put into context what he's talking about?

But basically, I'd say if the doc dictates it that way, I'd type it as 157 cm and 3/8 inch.

Sometimes we worry too much that there's a way of doing something, and we're missing it -- We have to quit torturing ourselves about this kind of thing -- I know, it's tough :).

But I've never heard of a way to type something like that, other than just figure out what would make sense and not muddy up the report.

In a case like this, just give them what they say. If they have a problem with it, they can clear it up and instruct someone on what exactly it is that they expect.

I actually browse the word board in my off hours looking for things I may not know, and in this case you can bet I added "Benirschke" to my word book.

I may never have it in any of my reports, but if I do that's one word I know I will have trouble finding, so it is now written in my references!!

Have a great day.
I did Google it, but I didn't know it was a hearing test it didn't pop up. Sorry to bother you

offered no context, such as whether this is a neurology report and what part of the body the patient is having symptoms in? If you put that in your subject line, then it will catch people's attention who type those reports.

Subject: Well U do realize WE R the minority..*LOL*..sm

Hard to change my ways anyway at this age.....*LOL* but we ARE the minority on this, as I have many people in my life in the business forever too.  I took a formal MT class 26 years ago at a major teaching hospital (with branches all over this country) and this very issue came up, and they (the instructors) insisted that it is disk for eyes and disc for the spine.  But, like most reasonable posters have already said, they are both acceptable in use.  Again, it's always client preference.

And she does NOT realize that demographics..sm
Subject: And she does NOT realize that demographics..sm

Demographics have TONS to do with that - I remember in 1980 - where I live had TONS of elderly (now deceased) so the first years of me doing MT work, the very elderly are usually in hospitals with these kinds of problems.  But now where I live, median age is 38!!!

Hence, it doesn't fit the bill any longer, and demographics have changed so drastically in the USA the past 30 years and especially the last 10 years that these statements of hers aren't cutting it.

Oh well, with the cute icon popping bubble gum of hers and it is a very cute emoticom, a grown woman in her 40s-50s-60s I do not think would usually choose an emoticom like that one - perhaps she is very, very young, and we cannot fault her for being a baby.  She'll grow up one day and realize it all on her own, IF she opens up her eyes.

I agree that we need more context. However, newbies don't realize this and deserve our patience.

Didn't you ever get this?
Subject: Didn't you ever get this?

The reason it didn't occur to people was that you didn't give enough information to let them know it was part of the physical exam, either HEENT or neuro exam. When clues are provided, people are happy to help. Otherwise it's a lot of effort on their part and none on the person asking the question.

She didn't
Subject: She didn't

you must not have read her post, which states:

"I agree it looks weird, but "appropriate for gestational age" is a compound modifier for "infant." Weird or not, that's the way it is. My opinion, if the correct way looks too "weird" for you and you don't mind getting pinged by QA, then use no hyphens at all because "gestational- age" definitely should not be hyphenated."

Another option, if this is not a verbatim account, would be to re-cast the sentence.

I'm suspect of the real identity of the person posting as the president of Sten-Tel (in 2 places already).  I guess my attention wasn't garned here so it was reposted at the top of the board.  Anyway I said what I felt I wanted to say and he didn't want to engage, so I can let it be.

Anywhoo, the site: http://www.medabbrev.com/main.cfm (which you need to be a member of, I believe to access it), says cc is now to be changed to mL because it is listed as a dangerous abbreviation, along with a whole other list of em.

That's all I wanted to post.
