M:E or M/E or something different?

"There was no monoclonal population found. She had a somewhat hypocellular marrow and an [M:E] ratio of 1:1."

Is the M:E correct? or is it M/E? I am seeing both ways and am not sure which is correct (or maybe they are both incorrect!lol)

Does anyone know?
