MTs like you and NewbieMT who show a lot of promise.

To answer your questions, I majored in medical secretarial and got my AA in that. After that, it was tough finding a job with no experience, but I managed to get a great job at an ivy-league teaching hospital. I worked as a medical secretary in the outpatient department for 7 years and then decided I hated the "front line" with the phones, appointments, yelling patients, screaming doctors (and doing transcription as part of that job, too), that I branched off into transcription. So, in total, over 30 years. Even after all this time, I haven't forgotten how terrifying it was starting out, so I really feel for you guys.

This MT shows promise, and a little mentoring won't hurt any of you, so relax. She's doing a great job on her own, and working hard, too.

If you all worked in a hospital setting, you would get this kind of help, too. I did, and I won't ever forget the help I received and how much I learned.
Just a helping thought - if you go to google

and type in "99-m diagnostic" google will question you with "99m" and provide you with technetium 99m. Ta dah! Double check to see if it is capped or not by going to a reputable website (i.e., mfr or such). Just a hint for future searches.

Not sure if anyone has found this site or not, www.mt-stuff.com.  I stumbled upon it when looking up a word on Google and thought it might be helpful to some.  There are samples of reports in the directory section of the menu plus other links.  Might want to check it out.

by investing in some MT reference materials. It's much easier (and much, much faster) to look things up that way, and learn as you are researching. Also suggest your getting someone to mentor you 1 on 1. This job is tough enough!!

Helping the offshore "MTs" with these basic terms they should know sm
Subject: Helping the offshore "MTs" with these basic terms they should know sm

will only mask how bad this situation is with their appalling ineptitude. (They have their own boards anyway.) We cannot help someone who cannot or will not help her/himself. These "MTs" can spend all their hard-earned money on reference books, take courses and go to lectures the way the rest of us have and can learn this very difficult work the hard way, LIKE WE DID. Hopefully, someday, these greedy MTSOs will see the errors of their ways, and we'll have our jobs back, we'll be able to pay our bills and feed, cloth, and house our families again.

Everytime I tried, I kept getting "Bednarski" which does not apply to incisions, but I kept leaving out the "h" before the "k."

Guess that's why I never tell someone they should "try googling" -- they probably already did. I can try and try some days and not get the answer.

It really had puzzled me how you were able to google and find this odd incision, although since I was just "reading posts" and "wasting time" not working on my own report, I just flipped over to google quick searched, and then tried a few incision type googles, when I didn't find I gave up. Had I been typing the report, I might have searched a bit more.

In any case, I was not the original poster, but just wanted to let you know sometimes even if the rest of us find the answer quickly, the original poster may be have searched a long time before posting the question.

Have a great day.
