Just want thank MTStars and all the "helpers" for being here. This is a wonderful place with wonderful people helping each other and if we cannot at least do that, then what is it all about?

Warmest regards,

Okay, been away from transcribing general practice for while.  Dictator is running a marathon here.  I have a couple of questions.

Patient is s/l attentionly and alert plus and cooperative.

for the life of me I am not hearing what I want to hear...awake, alert, oriented times three.  etc.

Also, in PE:  Lymphatic system s/l neither anterior and posterior cervical chain.

General surgeon talking about frozen section pathologic exam of squamous cell carcinoma lesion. First frozen section came back with positive margins so he went back to excise a second specimen which he submitted S/L "on fos" with the new margin up. This is a verbatim account and this dictator is on 100% QA (all reports) since he is so SPECIAL. I referenced the other reports in his MD data base and found "en Fos" which would have been put there by QA before the report was signed off to the hospital. I can't find this anywhere and was wondering if anybody has a clue?

Does this sentence make sense to any of you?  This is a disability and he it sounds like he is saying jaw?  but why would that be under cardiorespiratory?

CARDIO-RESPIRATORY: He has no signs of cardiac abnormalities, no claudication, no chest pain, or numbness of the jaw.

Could it be something else?  Please give it a try!

and we are told we can change sentence structure...however, whether i'm told that or not, i correct to proper English, including tenses, etc. Verbatim is never really absolutely verbatim, no matter what anyone says. You must use common sense. The bottom line is to be careful that you never change the intended meaning.

MTs like you and NewbieMT who show a lot of promise.

To answer your questions, I majored in medical secretarial and got my AA in that. After that, it was tough finding a job with no experience, but I managed to get a great job at an ivy-league teaching hospital. I worked as a medical secretary in the outpatient department for 7 years and then decided I hated the "front line" with the phones, appointments, yelling patients, screaming doctors (and doing transcription as part of that job, too), that I branched off into transcription. So, in total, over 30 years. Even after all this time, I haven't forgotten how terrifying it was starting out, so I really feel for you guys.

This MT shows promise, and a little mentoring won't hurt any of you, so relax. She's doing a great job on her own, and working hard, too.

If you all worked in a hospital setting, you would get this kind of help, too. I did, and I won't ever forget the help I received and how much I learned.
Just a helping thought - if you go to google

and type in "99-m diagnostic" google will question you with "99m" and provide you with technetium 99m. Ta dah! Double check to see if it is capped or not by going to a reputable website (i.e., mfr or such). Just a hint for future searches.

Not sure if anyone has found this site or not, www.mt-stuff.com.  I stumbled upon it when looking up a word on Google and thought it might be helpful to some.  There are samples of reports in the directory section of the menu plus other links.  Might want to check it out.

by investing in some MT reference materials. It's much easier (and much, much faster) to look things up that way, and learn as you are researching. Also suggest your getting someone to mentor you 1 on 1. This job is tough enough!!

Are you the same Rebecca who was a surgical tech for 8 years?
