In Reply to: There are no complaints but Mr. Cornelius's son is somewhat concerned. Does Mr. Cornelius's s - apostrophe use help

Subject: To make sure I checked agian and found this...

2. Use an Apostrophe with -s for Possessives of Singular Nouns
Use an apostrophe plus -s to show the possessive form of a singular noun, even if that singular noun already ends in -s:

Harold's crayon
my daughter's First Communion
Sylvia Plath's poetry
Dylan Thomas's poetry
today's weather report
the boss's problem
Star Jones's talk show
Victoria Beckham's husband.

So. I guess, it is

Mr. Cornelius's son

patella is singular
patellae is plural

chondromalacia is usually used with patellae, both knees, but if it affects specifically only one knee, then I think it would be patella.

and before I e-mail my PS, I wanted to see if I was wrong.  I researched but seems I was right.  I was corrected for using Entero Vu contrast - I was told it is Enteroview.  According to Stedman's it is Entero Vu plus I have been Radiology for 10 years and always used this spelling.  I was also corrected on using centimeters per second - I use cm/s but was corrected to cm/sec.  Any help on these?  Thanks!

Subject: Yes, I checked medical references...

I checked Google and Stedman's in several places!

I want to tell you that Dorland is a little outdated and oldfashiomed.

This is NOT an EXCEPTION, this I can tell you, because I studied Latin.

It is decubitus / decubiti

or

decubitus ulcer / decubitus ulcers.

The OP said that the doctor dictated 'decubiti'. If this is on top of it a 'verbatim' account and she types decubitus, whereas the doctor dictated 'decubiti', then she WILL REALLY BE IN TROUBLE.

IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT !

And why do you threaten me?

I think you are a QA????

Subject: It is checked...doesn't capitalize after well, site, knee, that, health

Sorry to use the word board for this question. I probably should have put it in another forum. Thanks for any suggestions.

If the words well, site, knee, that or health come at the end of a sentence, the next sentence doesn't auto capitalize.

I'll probably just have to very carefully check every sentence throughout the document, since grammar check doesn't want to work properly today. javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');
