Anyone ever heard of naked vessels?

lying centrally
It's confusing because "lay" takes an object: The hen will lay an egg." "I will lie down for a nap." But the past tense of lie is "lay," and that is confusing.

lie present tense
lay past tense
laid/lain past perfect tense

Lying centrally, however, is a gerund, a sort of adjective hybrid. If you made it "laying centrally," you would need an object (the hen and egg business again).

Laying is correct if she is laying an egg or laying a baby down for a nap. If you recline, you are lying. Sounds like a insult, doesn't it, like she isn't telling the truth.
