Subject: iQuestion: 'intra' or 'inter' ?

Sometimes I am confused when to use the prefix 'intra' and when to use 'inter'.  I know that this is Latin;  is 'intra' applied when it means 'inside' and 'inter' when it means 'in between'?   Is this the right way to put it?  TIA.
