To hyphenate or not hyphenate mid, that is the question
Subject: To hyphenate or not hyphenate mid, that is the question

Ok I know the BOS says most mid use has been combined with the following word, thus no separation by space or hyphen, but sometimes it just doesn't look right.  So, what do you think about

mid portion "occlusion of shunt in its mid portion."

mid July --midJuly doesn't look right, so is it mid-July or mid July?

What do you think?

stay with "guaiac"...
Subject: stay with "guaiac"...

From what I can remember working in the lab (which was a while ago), normally guaiac and heme stools are pretty much done the same way (usually smeared onto 3 cards), both looking for blood in the stool for anemia, colon cancer, etc. I would say doc is repeating herself only because one system is gastrointestinal and the other is rectal, and just keep typing what she says.
