there is more than one language

    in India.

I emailed her about her language....
Let's see if she replies, and HOW she replies. What a laugh!
Do you have to learn the language?
    nm
What is going on with your foul language?

if you want to use that kind of language, at least
    nm
    Tiliput's language does not belong
won't read it unless you can talk English and not your mother tongue.  Try to tone down your F word and save it for the back yard.
I'm guessing English is your second language? I would say this is a
disservice to the MT as well as the companies you are going to service. Nothing worse than someone trying to sail the ship who hasn't ever been near the water.
    "hell" is foul language??
good grief, girl. lighten up. remind yourself never to move to Ireland.

    It's common forum language...

    It means:  I totally agree.

Oh it is not common forum language...

There's that language barrier at work again
    *eye roll*

Honestly, please read the posts again. ANYONE CAN MAKE UP AN EMAIL ADDRESS WITH ANY NAME ONE DESIRES. THERE ARE NO - I REPEAT - NO RESTRICTIONS ON CREATING AN EMAIL ACCOUNT.

In a job ad post, YES, it is foul language and it will not be tolerated

I really don't know what part of the English language they do not get.. I think the word NO
comes to mind. I would not even be working that day when I'd get an IM, can you do a STAT? and I'd tell them no that I was heading out the door, so, your going to do it? and again, NO.. I said I'm heading out the door.  This would go on until I finally had to click the IM off. I felt badgered and I am not sure how much was just them not understanding or just being pushy. There is a fine line and I got tired of it so I quit.
Editors have knack for accents, language, etc.
    x
for MT: This is also common forum language: 'MT YAS
    Guess what this is?
IN PLAIN LANGUAGE, IT'S KNOWN AS "LOSING FACE" fm
Don't see how an MTSO can inspire faith and loyalty in his/her employees by blowing sugar up their collective behinds 1 day & all the while sticking it to them.  Call me sweetie pie, sugar cakes all you want, but don't do it in the same breath as telling us we'd all have to joint a 50% salary cut club, telling us that the low work for MTs is because of the Huge responses we got for our VR takeover and that because these brand-new VR'rs are so very productive all of a sudden -- (Why not chuck the euphimisms and say straight out, There's no work because it's gone to VR - in addition, we had to overhire a bunch of newbies as prophylaxis to a lot of expected resignations - added benefit, we don't have to pay any more bonuses to keep work in TAT - but you guys (you really do rock!) did pester us about low/no work, but will just have to FLEX until November when the new accounts (Ugggh) show up...hope your landlord, grocer, hungry kids are as understanding as you are, sweetie, sugarplumb - You're all the best!
Told ya.. the word NO is not a universal language. They do not hear what you say at all ..yet..
They are the ones QA-ing your work and docking your check accordingly. What a crock.. That and I would like 12 hours and be lucky to make $50. It's a ripoff. Their line count never adds up but you can bet they get paid a lot more than they give their MTs.
I personally prefer Medical Language Specialist...
Even the title medical transcriber doesn't do justice to our jobs with the way they have evolved over the years. We no longer can sit and simply be transcribers. We must be semi-fluent in several different languages, do our best to hone our psychic skills so we don't get penalized for leaving a blank for QA to assist with, we have to perform feats of magic at times attempting to find an ADT match, and the list goes on and on.

Geez, maybe we should just call ourselves *medical magicians* at this point what with all the rabbits we're expected to pull from the many hats we're forced to wear these days.
No forms of foul language are allowed, that's what got your post removed.

Medical language specialist is a title made up by MTs. The truth is...sm

...we are transcriptionists. Our job is to type what the doc/PA/nurse dictates. Look at a court reporter; she can call herself a legal language specialist or a juris stenographer or whatever else she comes up with, but her job is to provide a transcript of WHAT IS SAID in court. She is not changing anything, and nobody expects her to. In fact, if she did, there would be huge repercussions!

Same for closed captioning transcriptionists. What is said goes in the ears and out the fingers, no changes.

The difference between us and them is that we deal in medical language.

My title and my job is medical transcriptionist. I have also been a transcription editor. If the account says type verbatim, I do just that, and it matters not to me if the doc ends the sentence with a preposition. I'm here to provide a hard copy of what he said, not make him look like he went to charm school. If the doc/site/account/client decides the charts look foolish, they are free to allow me light editing privileges for the sake of clarity.

If you want to correct someone else's words, become a copy editor.

Our medical records are private. They should not be sent overseas. The language barrier can sm
cause a lot of very serious errors in a medical record, and I, for one, want my work kept here.

There are a lot of services that do not send work overseas and will not because they believe in keeping everything in the U.S. It was the deciding factor for me when weighing between two companies. One company was very vague when asked, but the other, Keystrokes, was adamant about staying U.S. only.

I started with them 2 years ago and will retire with this company, as long as it keeps the same ownership (had to clarify that as if the ownership changes, I would probably leave). I have not heard of them selling out, so I am hoping to stay!
Contact said pay was on time but there's a real language barrier with their 1 tech person. nm
    m
    So LEAVE ALREADY. nm

I will leave it, thank you very much
through these 2 rotten companies, I finally have found a good company, one that appreciates my work (which is very good) and one that does not lie to me or steal lines!!! So take that!!
    Why did you leave?
Or do you still work for them? I had the same experience - just sent my paperwork back, but haven't heard anything, including training date, etc.
    Leave it alone. I(SM)
If you don't like what they posted, that's fine. You have no right whatsoever to harass them for it and yes, that is exactly what you were doing.

    leave your job
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, don't do it!:)
    why did you leave
    Transtech?
see below, and please leave me alone, if you have nothing
    meaningful or thoughtful to post.
    Thank you.
    Why did I leave? SM
    1. Lack of tech support. Computer once was down for 3 days before tech support finally got in touch with me -- despite my leaving 2 messages.
    2. Cut in pay for ASR work. Line rates for ASR work were reduced by approximately 50% compared to straight transcription line rate. PTO accrual rate also almost cut by 50%.
    3. Lack of communication. E-mails, not always but occasionally, will never be answered. I figured out this usually happens when they don't know the answer and don't want to admit they don't.
    4. Nasty people at the Help Desk. You are required to have your IM turned on while working. If Help Desk needs a stat done, they can get very nasty with you if you don't get it done in what they feel is a timely fashion, its the end of your shift, or for some reason it doesn't fall into your cue.
    why did you leave?

    Why did you leave? NM

    Please don't leave
We are not all malcontents. I, too, have worked for different hospitals and understand your reasoning. Hang in there - some of us don't blast (at least not very often).
    leave

By staying there you are giving them life.  Quit now.  Anyone who works under those conditions can only blame themselves.  Companies can't **** employees like garbage if there are no employees.

    let's all leave
Okay all you TTers, let's leave this board for good.  We know we have a good thing at TT.
    Why did you leave? nm

    Why did you leave?
Just wondering if you don't mind...
    You can always leave
Some of us like our jobs. And I'm not the only rah-rah.

And for your information I don't get paid anything extra. I'm just not as jaded. Sorry 'bout your luck.

    BTW...

It's funny how much you'll talk about the company and the director without putting your name. Bet you wouldn't say the same thing if we we're in an office where there was a face with those comments!

    I would not leave
I work for a small company as an IC. The company knows IC means I work when I can or want to. I have no set schedule. That is #1 importance to me. But aside from that, the account I work on is really nice. I have run out of work on occasion, but it is not a regular thing and seems to happen mostly when someone new is hired. The new people seem to go in and work around the clock, taking work from those of us who have been there longer and tending to be the cherry pickers, which annoys me somewhat, but that usually dies down within a couple of weeks and then things get back to normal, with enough work for everyone. There are some ESL dictators but not a ton, and many of those are easily understood. The owners of the company are really easy people to work with, very understanding, etc. The pay is always on time, and I feel I earn decent pay for what I do and I feel like I am valued there. I would not leave them now or otherwise.

Now my second job is a whole different story. I work as a coder for a large hospital, and i would leave in a heartbeat if I could. I work from home and again have no set schedule but do have to work xx number of hours each week; I just pick the times to work. That is it's only advantage. The work is demanding and difficult. We get no respect for it at all. The stress is incredible as we work on a production standard that is virtually impossible to meet. We have 0, that's right 0, people in our group who meet the standard, and we have 27 coders. The expectations are unachievable, and we are constantly pressured to do more and more and more but we get less and less and less in return. Sounds familiar? However, this is the job that provides benefits for myself and my hubby, so I am stuck there for time eternal (or until Medicare kicks in for us). In my lifetime, I have always enjoyed working, but this is truly the first time I could say I hate my job and mean it wholeheartedly. That is why I feel for so many of the MTs out there who are stuck in situations that are making them miserable. Considering the amount of time an individual spends working, shouldn't we be able to feel good about what we do?
    Why would you leave?
Why would you leave a perfectly good job that you like because two companied merged?  Why not wait to see how it works out?  I've worked for Transcend for five years and for the most part they are a good company...it would work AGAINST them to take you off your regular accts and put you on unknown accts then train people to work your accts.  Their goal is to get the lines done and done well.  Pay is above most companies and you do get paid for major holidays.  There is PTO, benefits and 401K.  Please don't do something foolish, especially in this economy.
why don't they just leave us alone to do
our job and put this wasted research money into something worthwhile?? Why don't they put it into finding a cure for cancer or something?
If YOU think you are a G.P. then YOU can leave.
matters what the person who percieves herself as a G.P. thinks, and if she WANTS to stay or go.
Please go find your new job and leave it be
I figured there would be a post on here after the forum.  But let's not  make it out to be more than it was.  There was 1 post.  That is because people's names are shown on the company forum.  And on MT Stars, who knows how many posts are from the same few people.  If Transcend was so bad, you would think that it would not be prospering as it is.  I work there, I love it.  I have had NO problems, NADA.  I am not the only one either.  I am sick of hearing the bashing.  I am sure that there are problems there, as anywhere, but they are a good place to work and compared to some companies, a great place to work.  If you want the "perfect" job, I guess you will never be happy.  Sometimes you just need to be realistic and a little less spoiled.
Job offer from MDI-FL should I leave OSi for them?
By the way it's a VR job, suffering from ulnar nerve entrapment and looking for options.
