Is this a C-phone or internet account? nm
nm
I don't have a second phone line ... cable modem for the internet, regular line for my C-phone.

If anyone wanst to get through to me while I'm working, they have my cell phone number.

And, as I said, some accounts are using wav files -- no doubt soon all of the accounts will convert.  Hope so ... would make it easier (less expensive) to work when traveling.  :-)

Lots of good companies out there -- hope you find one that fits :)

What is the ratio of C-phone to internet

nm

I was very interested in them but I would have to use the C phone and I would rather stay internet
based and not go back to C phones and long distance charges. Sounds like a nice company though but not for me right now.
Is this all Internet dictation and no phone line? NM
NM
Know of any companies that use C-Phone and MSWord (no internet platforms)?

internet or extra phone line work? - nm
nm
No Long Distance Charges...they pay flat rate phone plan or use internet
..
The account I am on is internet only. I think it depends on the account. nm
nm
The account I'm on uses Internet. There are no LD charges. nm

I am on an internet account for Keystrokes. It is ortho but my
friend is on a clinic account that is internet for them.
You can try requesting an internet-based account
If they have any openings on any internet-based accounts, they may be able to put you on one of those. My primary account is internet-based, and I requested that my secondary account be internet-based as well, which was no problem at all.
I have Charter Cable for phone, internet and cable and love it. No worries about big bills. sm
Their service is not great but I have not had to call since I was set up 2 years ago, so it does not bother me. My whole block uses it and we are all very happy!
MDI-FL but not all accounts. Only the internet-based ones. C-phone accounts are fine.

So, yes, let me clarify before everyone gets in an uproar.. There is work IF you want to use a C-phone. IF you signed up for an account that is internet-based, you will be disappointed. Not enough work to go around. Just my personal preference.. I have no desire to do a dial-up C-phone account using my long distance.

LM- Have only been with MDI-MD since 10/05. I have one account through a C-phone system. From what
have a few accounts with audio through internet & are in the process of expanding that capability to other accounts.

So far, my primary account has been swamped since day one & I haven't requested a secondary as yet. Also,to date, I only have been doing Ops - which are my speciality.

As mentioned, the one & only drawback I've found is paying for LD. I'm using Vonage and, so far, no problems! My sound quality through my C-phone has been excellent, have only had 2-3 dictators on cell phones, which were still decipherable compared to what I previously had received.

I imagine the ESLs on my account are 40-50%, but, they are nothing compared to what I had been receiving. After doing a few reports, their accents are able to be picked up on.
My pay was equal to my prior job (12 yrs as SE) during my training & increased after training.
Well, almost forgot - Yes, I have set up Normals with editing as need be to comply with dictation verbatim.
If you're looking for a company that appreciates good MTs, then I would recommend MDI-MD.
I just can't begin to tell you how my dread of logging on every day was totally reversed after being accepted at MDI-MD. Everyone at MDI-MD is there to help you 24/7.
I have found my Home and hopefully you will too!

Former Med_ SE.
Not my C-phone account. Just got a backlog report

My account requires a second phone line (nm)

Just depends on the account. I work for MDI, don't use a c-phone but also don't have Bayscrib
x
It depends on which account your on. If you WANT to be on an acct with a C-phone, there is plenty
but, if you like, AND were hired for internet-based, you will be disappointed. Just goes to show that there are two sides to everything. Some people love it and some people hate it.. personally, I have chosen to work for a company that everyone is happy being at and you cannot find one single bad post about them. I have figured out.. that is a for a reason. When you see even one bad post, you should at least look into it further. I thought that people who complained were just ex-disgruntled MTs but soon found out for myself what they were trying to say so I say, go ahead and try it out yourself and decide.
I currently am on a C-phone account...mine stays pretty busy (sm)
If they are offering you 2 accounts I would probably take it. I wish I had a backup for the times when mine is slow, which is rare.  The C-phone accounts aren't bad but I worked on Docuscribe at Medquist and LOVED it!  For what it's worth, I'm happy at KS.  Good luck!
Wait to talk to the recruiter. If the account you are working on requires a C-phone, sm

they will loan you one if they have one available.  No sense in spending extra money if you do not have to do so.  :-)

Good luck !  I love it at Keystrokes.  I have only been there about 4-5 months, but my experience has been a good one.  I think you will like it.

My, you must have a lot of patience unless

you are management.

If they wouldn't have put down their MTs so bad with all the crap, I would still be there. I just couldn't take the IMs, do THIS-no don't do this, do THAT kind of stuff, mandatory conference calls, and on and on and on. When I worked there, there  weren't many newbies. There were some really sensible people there, then they got rid of some good QA people and put indecisive QA people in there. I was in  he--  the last month or so I worked there and supposedly it has gotten worse.

That would be one of the LAST places I'd apply for work.

Patience...sm
It has only been a few days since you applied, according to the posting dates here. With the amount of resumes I see being sent out to any good and reputable company being in the 1000s, I would think it would take more than just a few days to go through them all and then decide which ones to respond to. The first company I ever worked with took two months to respond to my resume. Try being a little more patient before giving up on them and thinking negatively, and posting negatively about them. I am sure you weren't the only one who applied. m-e-l-l-o-w.
Hey Patience! :)
Happy to help, in any way I can... hey, I'm as skeptical as the next person, but all those doom-and-gloom predictions did NOT come true for me. In fact, people from Transcend went out of their way to try to reassure us TRSers in any way they could, and truly, no bad things have happened at all. I'm working the same shift, the same accounts, higher pay actually, and my workload hasn't gone off to India because the clients whose accounts I do won't allow it. They don't like speech wreck either, apparently, so I'm still straight typing as well.

They've done a few other things such as transfer all of our various account instruction documents to the web, so we don't have to keep trying to log into a cantankerous shared network drive to find the latest version of the instructions. They also send out an automatic e-mail every time there's any update or revision to the instructions for the accounts we work on.

They also shut down the old TRS e-mail system, eventually, and we minions all opened Gmail accounts which we are able to access in Outlook. We also still have our MSN instant messaging going on; that didn't change at all. We can talk to our supervisors, co-workers and QA people very quickly and easily with it, even faster than e-mail (assuming the person you want to talk to is online at the time).

We do still have to get into that aforementioned shared drive to look for dictator samples, but I don't have to use it nearly as much as I used to because I have accumulated some pretty extensive sample files of my own, from which I do a LOT of copying and pasting.

Anybody out there, PLEASE feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions you think I might be able to answer. I don't guarantee I have answers but I'm happy to talk to anybody who wants.

I'm checking into it. Thanks for your patience.

Patience is a virtue...mine took six months --sm
to get back to me. Still there..three years later. They have to do their daily work too, probably are inundated with 1000s of resumes, have to test them all, and then decide who they want to interview. It is a long process and time consuming. If they want you they will get back to you..eventually. In the meantime, keep looking elsewhere.
Patient = Patience Thank goodness it is Saturday.
x
Just applied with them. Patience, how long did it take for you to hear back from them?

Worked on C-phone for 10 years with 1 phone line

I use both, internet and books, but mostly the internet..nm

C-phone - I purchased a c-phone from someone in Oklahoma but never got it. *sm*
First she told me her grandmother died. Then she told me she mailed it. Then she told me her daughter was having chemotherapy. Call me naive, but I thought she was sincere and cannot imagine anyone using their daughter as an excuse. If this is the same person from Oklahoma, I sure would like to know about it because now I want my money back.
Sure, have lost patience, never lost sense of acting

C-Phone = Connexions Phone

Dictaphone is a company and one of their many products is a C-Phone.

That account in Texas was not a MQ account. They did not use DQS on that account until KS started.
They are moving 3 other accounts to DQS between now and January 1st. I asked. The MQ accounts they have gotten in the past did not go to DQS. I followed my old account, which is how I know, and it was Meditech. The account is still run by KS and is a big account too.
why not look her co up on the internet? lol

Internet

I have recently moved into an area that does not have DSL or cable available.  The only thing that would be available would be through satellite and that would cost $400 to start and then $40 a month.  The $40 a month sounds great, although the initial fee of $400 for equipment does not make me happy.  My biggest concern is that there are some companies that would not allow the satellite internet.  Does anyone know any companies that allow you to use dial-up service or satellite for radiology transcription?

Thanks for your help.

You bet that the internet has taken over,
and this long ago!

What are you going to do if you do not understand a term a doctor is dictating?
How are you going to 'look it up' in one of your books?

But, if you type it into a medical website, you get options offered: 'Did you mean..?'
This helps a LOT.

This is ONLY A SMALL EXAMPLE.

I think the internet alone may be ok after you have a sm
couple years of experience. But I don't think starting out using the internet only is a good idea. There is too much incorrect information on the internet. If you are not familiar or don't research you are going to pick up wrong information.

I know I will probably get slammed for that but I have seen it over and over and over again. Folks just don't know how to or will not take the time to research anymore.
Repeatedly told another new account would come soon, but it never did. In fact, our slow account is.
everyone else's backup account. What a disorganized mess.
only want internet based too. nm
nm
Do they use an internet platform?
x
DTS internet connection
Do you know if they allow a dial up or satellite internet connection?  Do they have employee status or IC?
They do have some internet accounts
and some require C-phone or Lanier. When they hire, obviously they hire for whatever account they need someone to work on.
They have some internet accounts...
That is my main account and there is no work at all this morning. Seems like what I feared all along...overhiring!!
internet accounts
Yes, they have some internet accounts, but not many, and they hire for specific accounts that need help, which may or may not be an internet account at that time.
One of the new ones is definitely internet. I think it starts sm
October 15th or November 1st. The account is going to need 25-35 MTs to run smoothly, so it will be a nice one!
Internet information

I am going to be moving to an area where high speed broadband and DSL are not available - and the company I work for, as well as most other companies that I have seen on the jobseekers forum require one of these types of internet service - does anyone have any idea of how I can either get around this or of any companies that do not require these - and perhaps can use satellite or some other type where a receiver is placed on your roof that picks up a radio transmission.  That is the only type service available there.  I have heard from one Transcriptionist that said AT&T could perhaps install a pole in my yard for around $400 in order to get their DSL and I am going to check on that - but otherwise - I need help with this - and my options are running out.  I have been an MT for 15 years and worked at home for most of those years - I cannot imagine doing anything else - but this move is for my husband's business - so I'm stuck as far as where I can move.  Any information would be appreciated - either emailed or on this board.  thanks

re wav or internet accts
mine have been lower on work but not running out. I was told by my liasion that if there is no work you are not expected to keep your committment. I would suggest any of these things be directly discussed with your liasion so that there are no misunderstandings. Most any MT work will fluctuate some. I sure wouldn't turn away from MDI based on these concerns.
MQ DOES NOT reimburse internet
that is wrong, wrong WRONG.

But I will agree Medquist is a wonderful company to work for!!
They do reimburse internet
You have to send your bill to them and they reimburse. Only one bill is necessary.
