Yes, I live right outside of Houston. It was postmarked
Friday, if that helps.
I don't know where you live but where I live foreclosures are rising and there are no jobs -- non
I worried about my employer for part of the winter as my accounts grew sparse. I had plan to switch to being an employee with benefits but dared not make the switch in this economy (this was last year this time, got it?)
I figured keeping my seniority was worth whatever security it afforded.

My accounts have rebounded some and I can pay my bills.

By economizing seriously, I have paid off my credit card and put some money aside, just in case. I'm breathing easier, thanks.

So, all in all, I'm not complaining. This last winter was brutal, but I had a job and I paid my bills. When employment rebounds and/or national health goes into effect, people will go to the doctor again and we will be busy.

My part of the world is like a ghost town -- everyone who could left to find work in the city -- many apparently leaving their homes to the banks. Several houses in my vicinity have been on the market more than 4 years.

Forgive me my loyalty ... it pays the bills.

What does yelling at the rest of us do for you?
Those are easier to do.
It makes them look good in front of a supervisor who is unaware!
Houston....
Several ads on job seeker's board.
No, it is in Houston.

I think they are easier to get, too, sm
but I only worked at MQ for a short while over a year ago. I agree that the atmosphere is better by far, too.
We know they get easier after a while; the woman would just like

NP easier to understand....
but they do go on and on and on forever....just can't keep it brief.
That's easier said than done these days. sm
Even the American products are built overseas or have some ties to offshoring.
Is this the Alliance out of Houston? nm

Alliance MT in Houston????

I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with this company?  Good or bad?

TIA

MediTask....NOT in Houston

There are two MediTasks.  The one I am wondering about is in Austin....I think.  Is it a nice place to work.  Pay??  Hours/shifts?  Anything would be wonderful!

easier way to calculate
an easier way to calculate is that it is said that typically it takes 3X as long to transcribe so if itis 45 mins, multiply by 3 and divide by 60 to figure out the amount in hours  so 45 X 3 = 135, divided by 60 = 2.25  two and a quarter hours.
but it wouldn't be easier for someone who has
x
i should add that this is the alliance out of Houston

Is the name of the company AMT in Houston? /nm

would probably be easier to post the ones who don't

Transtech in TX (Houston)

It was easier when they were babies sm
in the pre-toddler stage.  Now that they are preschool/school age, I find it impossible to keep focused on work and them too.  I had to resort to working in the evenings when my husband was home so I could not be distracted. Good Luck!
Nothing easier than self deceit?

I was BEGGED by my supervisor to hang in there and flex.  Told that things would get better.  A bunch of lies.  Lies make me angry.  Especially lies involving my wallet.

Sorry we aren't all half vulcan and see the world with cold professional logic right along with you.  Surprise, some of us get emotional about our paychecks, especially during a recession.  But if you're that embarrassed, don't read about it, and hang out with the other vulcans.

If I kicked you in the shin, would remain the picture of diginity and grace, or would you scream because it hurt?  You are only a paragon of dignity because you personally has hurt you - yet.

Medi-Task - NOT HOUSTON

From time to time, I search these boards for any posts regarding my company, MediTask.  Yeah, I know I'm late (really late) posting, but some time back someone had asked about my company, asking if it was the one in Houston, owned by Matt Read, or what.  Nope - not me.  Here's my story:

I own Medi-Task (Hill Country, TX).  I started this business in Houston in 1989, and moved to the central Texas in 1995, selling that portion of my business to Matt Read.  He didn't change the name (another whole story there) but just added -"Houston" to the end of it.  I fielded calls and inquiries for a long time until they died out.  I understand he sold that business several months ago. I've tried calling but they sometimes have a message giving a pager number (?).  Ouch... I wish people weren't confusing the two companies!

Being an MTSO, I did hear things through the grapevine to the tune of MTs not getting paid, or paid on time... I can't really comment on that because I had nothing to do with how Matt ran his business, and basically kept my nose to the grindstone where growing my business was concerned.  So, you'll have to raise those questions with someone else who was really there.

MediTask (my company) has clients in 7 states, and MTs in as many.  We're a smaller, close-knit group.  My MTs have never gone without pay, and I believe in behaving honorably in those matters.  My reputation is important to me, and I hope to never see any negative about myself or this company.  But, people are funny  - - some move from company to company peddling their wares (which are sometimes rusty), and then get bent way out of shape when their services are no longer needed.  Some are just bent on getting out of shape.  However, that said - I have MTs who have been with me a long, long time.  In fact, the first MT I ever brought on board in 1989 is working with me today. Others have been on board since '92 and '94, 99, etc.

All the MTs here are subcontractors, so I don't offer the big perks that the nationals do.  Sometimes I feel bad about that (and have lost great applicants who are looking for more), but also understand that there are pros and cons to both ways. There's not a corporate bone in my body, and I never really want all the headaches associated with handling a huge company.  I like it smaller where we all know each other's names, and work close as a team.  We actually get together whenever we can in Austin or Marble Falls - that's pretty cool.

No one asked me, but I thought I might clear the air on the "MediTask Houston or Austin or what?" posts, let ya'll (yep, I'm from Texas) know who I am, and what this company is about.  I'm proud to be associated with the people who work with me, and so lucky to have such dedicated, helpful, spirited, intelligent colleagues such as them.  I'm blessed.

Anyone who has curiosity beyond this, I'm happy to answer any questions I can.

Only one I can find is R & S Transcription, but out of Houston. E'd you! nm

This is happening at Transtech Houston

No work this week the majority of my shift.

Are you TT MT's out of work, too, or just me? I am wondering, as this has not happened to me since I began working for them.

In a poor house in Houston
XXX
you are saying "offshore company" - they are in Houston so...
not an offshore company - American based and American owned.

If they offshore work, I do not know.

I was there a couple of years ago when they changed from TSI to Smartmed. Their only downfall was very high insurance costs.
LOL. Perhaps I should stick with MQ--easier to spell...sm

Thank you, me, for the info in your previous posts.

other hospitals in houston are back
A friend works for a different hospital in Houston and said they have been back up to full speed for 3 days now. So just seems odd they are not all back up to full speed. Maybe their hurricane preparedness was not as heavy duty?
I work for the one out of Houston but don't know anything about the Ohio TT

The one in Houston is the one people love

Faster, easier, and more reliable than Autocorrect.

Is there an easier way to find out if companies offshore?
I have worked for 3 companies that all offshored and were absolutely not forthcoming about it upfront. I never want to work for one again. Is there a list somewhere or am I banging my head on the wall. Again.
Is eSmartMed the same as the SmartMed located in Houston? nm Thanks!

Anyone have any info on Trans Tech out of Houston?

Dictaphone EXT or Chartscript-Which do you think is an easier platform.
I have worked on Dicatphone and thought that system was fairly easy to learn. How does Chartscript compare to that platform and production wise. thanks
as the poster below says, clinic work is not easier
I work for a large multispecialty clinic, general surgery - transcribe rotator cuff surgery, hernia or breast reconstruction; urology - transcribe the urinary system; orthopedic - joints and bones and muscles, ENT issues, cardiologisy and veins, arteries and valves, dermatology, neurology and nervous system.
MQ speech platform MUCH easier and MT friendly than TT's

Dictatphone Exspeech is just awful !!!!  You will see, I guarantee you  !!!

DQS is excellent editing platform.

Transtech in Houston has lots of VR work
You may have the option of working weekdays and rotate weekends, 1 one weekend per month. That is my deal but I have been here a while. Or you can work Sunday through Thursday.
It depends on where you live. If you live in their
service area it would be cheaper than outside their service area.   I only have rates for out of service area and medical is  139.13 for family or 168.42 depending on what plan you choose.  Dental is 20.85 for family, vision is 5.13.  These are per pay period.

Individual coverage would be 44.79/54.21 medical, 7.99 dental, and 1.71 vision.

I opted out of insurance as we have through my husband's job.  I believe  the cheaper insurance is a 70/30 plan and the more expensive an 80/20, not sure about co-pays.  Deductibles are $2000 for family, not sure about individual.
Dermatology typically an easier or more difficult specialty? Thanks. nm

I do my daily or every couple days after my shift. Much easier (nm)

Answers to some questions asked about TransTech out of Houston, TX

Different platforms -- Dictaphone ExText -- very clumbsy/clunky editing platform.  Probably 85% ESL now that so much VR/editing being done.

Big push for more editing, so what straight transcription that is kicked out from the voice machine is absolutely horrible on the ears!  THE TRUTH and nothing else but the truth !

Pay half for editing/VR work . . . yuk !

Different strokes for different MT's, but I work to earn a living, not for the fun of it ! Transcription used to be a FUN profession, but lacking now with all the jobs going to VR machine.

I started out in radiology. It's so much easier than acute care.
Never figured out why they separate it from the rest since it's just another specialty. If you can do acute care, you can do radiology, so might as well give it a whirl! Gotta be better than Softscript.
Much easier and better process of doig this, as I worked at a hospital on ExText nm

Any recent info on TransTech Medical Solutions of Houston TX.....sm
I just received an offer to test, wonder if it is worth it; I have a few offers, but nothing I am truly convinced about....how is this company to work for, and do they accept PT folk, don't care if it is IC, SE, or regular employee......and I, too, need flexibility, as long as I get my lines in and always make turnaround time.  Long time ago, there were many, many companies that operated that way; now, it seems, everyone is very rigid -- so am I, but I have to make things work with family situation, I am not only caring for 3 kids, but also 89-year-old mom part-time.  Thanx all in advance!
IMO, it's just easier to be rude hiding behind the guise of a screen name. The hateful ones here
It's likely that the hostile MTs that constantly spew negative remarks are the same ones who are too passive to speak up for themselves in the real world. They are basically cowards that take crap all day then come here and anonymously take their pinned up frustrations out on everyone else.

I have seen this on many message boards, but for whatever reason, MT Stars is the absolute worst for this. Isolation must be a huge factor. Some of these gals just need to get out once in a while. JMO
Better be glad you got the easier dictators soon, because you're time is coming for the ^^^REAL^^

dictators!  Be glad you got off now.  I wondered where my better dictators went the last week or so !!!!!  Lucky you !!!!!

I can always tell when the TT favorite MT's are off, because I get their dictators -- making it easier for me to get my line count. Yea !

TT is constantly hiring, so the above scenario is a norm.

Go Local
I would not consider editing unless the pay reflected my experience as an MT. Editors spend a lot of time cleaning up the garbage.

I think you have to go local for that.
I don't know of any that pay hourly for MT work. Many do for QA work, but not for MT.

I know around here many of the local hospitals do that, but it's usually MTs that have been with their hospital for a certain period of time. They don't hire from outside to work at home.
