That is a prejudicial remark.
Substitute the word African American, Asian, Hispanic, etc., in there and see how wrong that sounds.  Why do you need to be so insensitive.  This is a public forum.  Let's quit stereotyping people according to appearance.  Saying that is a blonde remark clearly strikes me as totally uncalled for.

Just because *you* can't accomplish that does NOT make it untruthful.

Perhaps instead of bashing an MT who has spent her life and career learning as she went along to achieve these goals, you might better spend your time finding ways to increase your lph and educating yourself for furthering your career.

I am not the OP; however, this type of line count is totally doable! It takes patience, time, and, most of all, a continuing willingness to learn new terms and then RETENTION of those terms.

As I have progressed through my MT career, when I have happened upon a new term I have made note of it on sticky notes around my workspace. There are always terms/medications are new. Instead of looking them up over and over, I found that the sticky notes provided a quick reference.

The next thing one must do is take full advantage of an Expander file. As I have made new entries, I have kept track of those on notes, as well, until they were committed to memory.

It helps to have the ear and it also helps to stay completely focused on your job during the time frame in which you are required to work, with hour to hour-and-a-half quick breaks to get up and stretch and a quick getaway from your work. Sitting for too long can not only bring on lethargy, but also decreases one's concentration and focus.

Learning to transcribe new dialects, a very real factor in today's transcription, should not cause one to whine, but rather to get in there and transcribe the report then take note of QA feedback.

With this ever-changing field, one must be willing to learn, learn, learn and develop new tricks to increase one's productivity - instead of calling another MT who has obviously achieved a high amount of production over her career a liar! Shame on you - you're a sister/brother MT and this was totally unnecessary and disrespectful!

Are you serious?  My husband worked as a janitor in the post office for the past year. He had to in order to get into the position he wanted. He laughed at your post. That would like me getting angry at someone for calling me a typist.
There was nothing snide or condescending in her remark.
If you're that hypersensitive, please seek help for your disorder instead of reading between the lines and trying to censor other people.
Posting such a nasty remark --

is offensive to those of us who have alcoholics in our family.  My youngest daughter has a drinking problem but has been sober for 3 years.  I don't know what this person said, but she must have been right on the money for you to be so rude.  I will say a prayer for you but I hope you rot in hell!

It is my personal opinion that QA is essential. On the very rare occasions I receive a comment from QA, it is accepted by me wholeheartedly and I put in the extra effort to be more attentive to what I'm doing.

I feel a lot of MTs have it in their mindset that are inferior to QA. Then there are others who absolutely cannot take constructive criticism well and get on the defense if an error is found. These are both wrong attitudes. QA is just another set of ears to help out.

ENCOURAGING OTHERS TO REPORT ALSO
Different departments and organizations have/or are being contacted. This will keep going on otherwise. I encourage others with this problem to do the same. As a newbie, we have been there, or know of someone who will be there in the future. This makes it hard for honest workers or employees of this field to keep trust in who employs you. We need to not just get word out, but stop this unprofessional practice. We need to hurt where it counts, in her pocket/ work we have done, money she got for it.

None of this is encouraging, I'm making
around $50 a day and yes that is gross. I don't even see how I will make the full time requirement of $900 a pay period. I'm not against VR but for heavens sake, PAY us a decent wage. You would just die if you saw what their officers make. If you have stock, then you know what I'm talking about. I will have to look for another job or a second job just to make ends meet. This must be the only profession where each year we go backwards. Wish I was ready for retirement, but have a few years to go unfortunately. Maybe I'll win the lotto. Oh wait, guess I'd have to buy a ticket for that and who has the money???? LOL or maybe just cry.....

I hate to be a pain with so many questions, but I've been at this for almost 19 years so I'm an old dog. LOL Is this platform used for both editing and typing? Also, is it compatible with the Instant Text Expander program? I have years of shortforms programmed into that software and it would be very difficult, not to mention a productivity-killer.

I have talked to Jean M. a few times already.  I just accepted their offer Friday and wanted to be sure I understood what they had told me.  What they told me sounded very good.  I am looking forward to starting.  They are going to let me work a split shift.  I am on evenings now with 2 little boys and it makes it hard. 
They were very nice. sm
The two things I did not care for was the unlimited long distance, and their software Bayscribe.  Even though it was easy to use, the spellcecker is way too outdated.  I did not care for that at all.

I agree. Based on the writing, wording used, and the same old themes used over and over, it really does seem like the same couple of bitter people complaining about OSi. I don't know what has brought them out of the woodwork all of a sudden. Doesn't really matter to me. I'm happy there. I'm not a newbie, wasn't when I started, and have been there 3 years now. I hope to be there for a long time to come.

It would be nice to know what the
for most of the ER MTs and for most of their acute care MTs so we could get a general feel for what can truly be achieved. I have also heard they have several platforms and wonder which ones are the most MT friendly.

I figured the KS people would be happy to get the lost IDs back after a fashion. Maybe the 3 people who had to stop last week can start on it again. It's news to me that KS was getting it all, though. But that hospital wasn't up front with us about many things. I hope you all are making good money on it, I couldn't make much money on that platform even with my IT.

I doubt that there will be severance, though. I'm just a little in shock that it was so fast; I figured we'd have another week or so at least. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

You have no idea what dictators she got.  I was off QA after the first day at my current job.  One of the reports I transcribed on my first day I received back with a note about how exceptionally difficult the dictator was, and what a great job I had done.  QA had to leave a number of blanks in that one.  It was awful.  I still got released from QA, because that horrible, terrible dictator gave me a chance to show what I was made of.  If I could handle that guy, I could handle anybody, and I do.  Maybe you haven't reached the level of experience and competence to be released from QA in very short order, but there are those of us who certainly have.  Maybe some day you'll get there.  In the meantime you shouldn't insult those of us who have worked so hard to excel in this field.

Must be nice (sm)

I do work 7 days a week.  I transcribe until 11 at night most of the time.  I work 3 transcription jobs.  I have absolutely no life, no quality time.


I make 8.25 cpl for one company


7.25 cpl for another


9 cpl for a third


The 8.25 cpl job is basically straight typing, no headers, no footers, no demographics to fill in.  I can crank out 500 lines an hour but I'm only given 500 lines-700 lines per day to transcribe.


7.25 cpl is VBL, ESL and small amount of work


9 cpl is lots of demographics to fill in, small little notes and not a lot of work but it takes double the time the 8.25 cpl job does.


I would give my eye teeth to make 12 cpl and be able to do 500 lines per hour at the same time.  Stopping and starting, filling in demographic blanks and forms takes up so much time that I'm lucky if I make $2200 a month but again, 7 days a week and no life away from the computer.

Well I emailed them and asked what that was all about with no response. I guess that is what they are going to give. I will be staying away from them in the future and would suggest people to do the same. This is highly highly unprofessional in my opinion.

gosh, what does it feel like to actually make $25.00 an hour? I do remember long long ago when I made this much while on overtime and working inhouse, but I am lucky to get anywhere close to $10 an hour these days, most of the time even less.  I guess I am just not fast enough to even be in this business.
