On the contrary, I find your post refreshing and true. sm
I agree whole-heartedly that MTSOs AND MTs are in it for a paycheck. It's not personal. If you don't like your employer's treatment, find another company where their style is more to your liking.
The whole post is not even clear, but even if it is her
will report they are paying her?  Hello?
I never worked for KS but her post was very clear to me
that the people she was talking about did not work for KS, but the account.
did not make IT cleAr in your 1st post
that you are scared about your paycheck!
Now I understand COMPLETELY!
They are clear that they post the checks for the 1st and 15th and the banks determine when they are
I do know one thing though from talking to someone about increasing my 401k deduction, that they did not realize that Monday was a holiday or they would have pushed them through for today like they did for New Year's Day's check. That person also told me that starting next month, if it falls on Saturday, it will pay on Friday, if it falls on Sunday, it pays on Monday. I joked that I knew she did not have kids or she would know that it's a school holiday and I was right! Those of us with kids know more of the holidays because we have to keep track of days off.
How wonderfully refreshing -
Someone who believes we are all real people!! I am really wary now about companies because I gave my all for 5 years with a company working 60 or more hours a week that entire time as an IC. Someone not show up today? Assign it to me. Someone not able to do ESLs? Give them to me. What did I end up with? Being shown the door because the paranoid office manager thought I was after her job!
It's so refreshing to see other companies

discussed rather than the same old big companies all the time. Keep it up!

I am so impressed. What a refreshing change. Thank you!

i find it kind of refreshing...
She is to the point, gives the bottom line, and lets you choose to pursue the job or not, no time wasted on her or your end. It seems she's had experience with this and doesn't want to waste valuable time that could be spent elsewhere... my mentor who got me started 20+ years ago told me that for every 100 applicants, maybe 1 would be qualified, so I can relate to this person's statements...
Your honesty is refreshing,Tonya.
Thank you for posting, and thanks for being so forthright.
I like your attitude...Common sense is so refreshing!!! (NM)
:D
Alice
The famous person who said it was Albert Einsten. I was where you were now until I signed on with MDI. They are the decent, honest company that is the exception to the rule. I have been MTing for many, many years and am still shocked at the companies out there that want to exploit the MT. Fortunately, MDI is not one of them.
Alice,
That should be Einstein, NOT Einsten. Can you tell I have been working all day? No work shortage here.
Alice
It is the same company. I am sorry it turned out that way for you. I hope you find something good.
Alice
I thought of contacting them, too, but decided why bother? I was just shocked. I mean, apart from a complete lack of business etiquette, this woman couldn't even speak correctly. Yuh know, that there stuff called grammar? Well, she didn't understand a lick of it. I was appalled--could hardly believe that any company would have someone like that representing them on the phone.
Alice
I think that what you are seeing is basically human nature at work. I don't know what the recruiter said or did not say, but please remember that being a recruiter is basically a sales job. Companies hire more people than they need because it is all about TAT. It is a standard for many companies (but not all) today, sadly.
Thanks, Alice
I appreciate you sharing your experience with Archivus. Sorry things did not go better for you there (are you still there now?). I guess the encouraging information is that they do have work, unlike some of the other companies that have a line requirement and do not have enough work for the MTs to meet quota (? just guessing that no news is good news here).

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Have a great night!
Thanks, Alice
Your post is so articulate!
And your points are well taken.

For me, as much as I oppose NAFTA-like policies, I am not opposed to global trade.

In other words, I opposed the NAFTA (North American FREE Trade Agreement) not because it opened up markets, but because FAIRNESS should have been the F in nafta, not FREE. The agreement also provided insufficient consideration for environmental issues.

When I think about the poorest people in the world who HAVE benefitted from the global economy - if even a small amount - I cannot find it in my heart to resent them for it. They are just as human as I am.

To me, these issues are NOT black and white. If we have ANY hope of leveling the playing field, the FIRST thing to do is to become educated about the POLICIES our own government is enacting that have a DIRECT impact on our daily lives.

I hate to be a drone on capitalism, but it is just a fact that capitalism will always drive companies to put profit ahead of the needs of its workers.

I am not going to pretend I have the magic recipe for a system that allows free enterprise and at the same time PROPERLY considers its workers, but I have no doubt such a system is possible.

But if Americans think they will effect REAL CHANGE by sitting back and letting politicians continue to MAKE THE LAWS THAT FAVOR CORPORATIONS, they are truly fooled.

This is NOT about PARTY A versus PARTY B, it's about the need for a real hard look at our entire economic system - unless we are happy to continue to watch it, quote work unquote, for so FEW.
Alice
Well MQ was (and IS) traded on the stock market and I would hardly say they are an ideal company. This people worship at the Shrine of Fort Knox.
It is refreshing to see Job Posts offering 10.5 cpl and 12 cpl on weekends and Holidays. sm

On the job board, SA Wynn Inc is hiring and sound pretty decent.  The pay sounds great compared to the others.  Go for it!

I know nothing about them, as I am on the East Coast, but I was happy to see the line rates going up from 7 cpl from the other posts.

Trust me.. I have come from a lot of "crappy" jobs that is why it was so refreshing to hear so
excitement over the possibility of another job.. one that may be a great hidden treasure. I just think it is great when people never lose that newbie enthusiam even after some not-so-great experiences. I admire you totally and best wishes.. I hope this is the job you have looked for..If so, sign me up LOL

Alice and Digging In, SM
Sorry about getting your name wrong, Alice. I use Shorthand, but InstantText's method is probably much the same.

Digging, if you don't have one of those I very strongly recommend it, although Word does have a macro creation function. But whatever you do, if you're working on an employer's program, get your own program that stays with you no matter what.

In Shorthand, when I open the window where you add entries, there's a record Keystrokes button on the side. I hit that and it returns me to the text page, where I type the keystrokes as usual. When I'm finished, I hit the stop button which has appeared on the screen and give my new macro a name, which is 1, 2, or 3 letters/number/figures at most.

It's as simple as that for literally hundreds of basic corrections. Like my KK, which hyphenates two words by backing one space, inserting the dash, and returning the cursor to the next word beyond.

qiq, which erases q.i.d. and types 4 times a day for me.

Z backs up and inserts a comma, then returns to the next word.

F toggles letters into upper and lower case. I use this one thousands of times a day, but I had to copy the keystrokes from the people at productivitytalk.com because I'm no good at this stuff and my attempts to just record it didn't work. An absolute must-have! I can't believe I typed for years without it.

Virtually everthing you do, copying admit diagnoses and putting them under a new discharge dx heading, breaking up run-on sentences into two, etc., can be reduced to a tap of a key or two as you cruise by. I don't see most of my corrections occur, I'm already gone.

Be sure to check your lines per minute before you start so you can recheck them after a week of using the first few you record. You're going to love it!
I agree with Alice!!
I was with Focus for almost 5 years and I quit on Tuesday.  There is no work; I miss my Indian managers who made sure there was enough work to go around.  The new management is the worst!!  Within her first month on the job, she has lost one account with one more almost gone.  The hospital I was working on - the docs keep disappearing so it's obvious that account is firing Focus, phasing them out.  So - not even 2 months on the job and she's lost 2 hospitals?  I wanted something growing - not shrinking!   I can honestly say I loved my job up until November of 2008 when new management took over and my Indian was moved.  I, like a few others, hoped things would get better after new managment got settled in.  That did not happen!  She hired QC with transcription experience of 6 months.  How can a completely inexperienced person QC any report with any degree of accuracy?  This person pends all reports - even stats - to the hospital.  My thought:  Why hire QC?  Let MTs pend directly to the hospital since QC is incapable and cannot do their job?  Eliminate it!  I did not appreciate QC asking me about formatting reports, asking about doctors on the hospital when she should know that - after all, she was QC-ing my work since I was an MT!!  QC asking MTs how to do her job?? Enough was enough!  I left...but will always be thankful for having had the Indian folks I worked with.  They were truly second to none and I find it really sad to watch their years of dedication and hard work go down the drain in less than 3-6 months after new management started on their accounts!
You are correct, Alice.
That is what I believe to. A run around. I would like to give an ultimatum but I do like where I am but I am putting my resume out there just in case I have to do just that. And to the other poster, yes, it is stated in our contract that after a year we will be considered for a raise. I have gone above and beyond what has been asked of me for that year, definitely not just doing enough work, etc. Ten hour days and even weekends when they need it. All I want is an answer. I think I have earned that. I just wondered if this has ever happened to anyone and how they handled it. BTW, I worked for 10 years with the same place before this and never go a raise. This time is a completely different situation.
i didn's see any name calling from Alice
you lost me...
Alice, while that is a wonderful thought
it isn't realistic.  Physicians are the profit generators so no hospital is going to risk offending them.  It has always been so.  I would suggest that as an alternative the bad dictators be rotated among the MTs fairly, no excuses for not doing them.  I once worked in a small hospital where all dictation was done by the in-house transcriptionists.  There were 3 very bad dictators.  We also had to rotate on pathology which I absolutely hate.  I asked the other MTs if they would be willing to take my turn doing pathology if I would take all the dictation from these 3 bad dictators.  All were happy and I was happy, problem solved.  That's how it was in the old days.  MTs got along, worked together and there was no cherry picking.  It simply was not allowed by the department head, everyone was required to take the good with the bad.  We didn't have computers in the old days but not everything was bad either.
And that would be an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. LOL.
Typical transcriptionst. :)
Thanks, Alice, I had read all the negative posts. I just wanted to know if
anyone who worked for them had anything positive to say. The screaming b*@ch responding to this post doesn't realize that people do need to work, but some of us want to weigh all responses. I'm not living life looking through rose-colored glasses. I don't live it, either, by focusing on every negative my mind conjure up, like the whacko responder here. Good grief, talk about needing a life!

Thanks, Alice, doesn't seem anything has improved here as far as Focus.
It is clear now. Thank you...sm

I felt silly asking the question, but you all have answered it clearly to where I understand and I do appreciate that greatly!  Thanks so much!

Just to be clear....DRC is (sm)
Digital Records Corporation in Santa Clara, CA, right?  I think the website I found for them was relyondrc.com
Now that we are clear on KS
I, for one, would really like to hear who else refuses to offshore work.
maybe I was not too clear.
I did not want to talk about work on FB, but to know some people with the same company. See where you live, what you're interested in...If i had specific questions, like when we were having audio problems or something, I could directly msg a fb coworker and see if they figured out anything. Other than that, about all I would say are generalities like how I'm working today or such. I'm not going to be less than professional with any forum. I just like the idea of knowing some MDI people. Shoot, if the liaisons were interested, I'd invite them! In fact, I actually searched to see if they were on FB. Its just kinda fun to feel connected.
let me be clear
In case you did not read my other posts and I was clear...

This company hounds us to work overtime and refuses to pay us overtime..breaking the law.

During the slow time, this company expects us to sit at our computer for our entire shift waiting for work to come in the cue and we do not even earn minimum wage while we are doing this...again breaking the law, which is why people call him and complain they have no money to pay their light bill.

We are expected to get 1200 lines a day. The 800 lines a day is a minimum if an emergency happens, and then you are still expected to get at least 12000 lines in by the end of the pay period.

This particular e-mail is offense to me, because the only times we have been behind on TAT is through no fault of any MT. In May, the owner took on 50 or so new docs and did not hire people to do the work. We were sent numerous e-mails telling us that the owner was not happy because he had to pay a fine for each late document. How was this our fault? Now, we are behind because this company did an upgrade and we COULD NOT WORK. This owner is NOT giving cash advances..lol. He refuses to even pay us what we earn in overtime and the slow time!

I WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR. (SM)
Do NOT post identifying information. Even initials and stop with the ridiculous sly tactics some have resorted to in order to give out initials.

I am watching this thread closely.

You'd probably be lucky to clear $12K - sm
so if really want to MT at home, do the schooling, get a PT job and work at night until you can in make $1K a month. See how long you have to work in a day to do that. IF it is 4 hours a day 5 days a week, great, but if you are working say 6 hours at night, then you will need to work at it. I doubt you want to work at home but work 18 hours a day to make your $25K a year at first.
NO, they cannot. I have been abundantly clear about this in the

past and for some reason the message doesn't seem to be getting through.

So, I will again post in hopes that all will fully understand.

The only way anyone would know anything about your posts is if a company subpoenas us for the information and to date that has never happened.  When you post and you enter your email address, no one knows what your email address is.  They can email you, but the only way they would know your email address is if you reply back to them.  IP addresses are not revealed in any manner on this site.  Now, I will say that if you make a post and your supervisor can recognize your syntax, then he/she can certainly make an educated guess, but it didn't come from anyone at MTStars.

So, with that said, if anyone has issue or questions about this, you need to bring it directly to me and not post assumptions on this website.  We have been in operation since 2001, offering this site for free, not to mention along with a lot of freebies given over the years, and low cost softwares available that no other MT site remotely thinks of offering.  I have helped a number of people over the years through charitable events, gift giveaways, mediating between the MT and MTSO regarding unpaid wages and the list goes on.  At this point, I am offended and fed up with the trash that gets posted on this website when it costs the poster absolutely nothing to participate, including unfounded assumptions such as the one made above.  As I post this, I must also say that if visitors of MTStars cannot post in a kind manner, don't post here.  Go somewhere else, as the mood of this site is to promote a friendly, harmonious atmosphere.

Maybe I wasn't clear sm
I have used the toll-free number for several years and was given that information when I first started typing for them.  The same is true of their toll-free help line number.  The toll-free number is listed on their website when you sign in or if you call and ask for it they will give it to you, but I was given the toll number at the beginning.  I think they automatically give their local, toll, number sometimes, not really thinking about the toll-free one.
Any one get a clear answer or even a
xx
--Should be more clear on my answer. You have
the right to work IF you want. They cannot set hours for you, however they can say that they have work available these hours and you can choose to work them or not.
Loud and Clear.
..
I can clear some of that up. Yes, they pay 50% of the insurance. sm
I pay $200 a month, they pay $200 a month. The insurance is excellent too. I live in Florida and have not been that fortunate in the past.

I have been at KS for a while and they have come into their own, always improving.

Most of their accounts used to be shared, now most are full or close to it (the one I am on has 11 from KS and 1 in the hospital).

They are moving accounts to Docuscribe and have started to do that.

They control the schedules now because they can with a total account.

They have told us (lead MT's) that there is no need for OT and if there is, they offer incentive such as 1.5 x rate which is the same as OT. However, when they started to say this, a lot of us argued that we like the extra work and don't want to lose that. They were going to hire more people to keep us at 8 hours, but I would rather work 12 hours. No one's business but my one is my feeling on that.

They have really worked on benefits and employee retention and really do care about their employees.

Because they have *paid their dues* for lack of a better phrase, they are getting really great accounts. They don't lose accounts, which says a lot about them and those of us who work them.

They are constantly trying to improve things and actually do care. They want to be the best and they keep moving closer and closer to that.

I am glad I stuck it out. There were rough times a few years ago. There have been changes, but all in all, they are always for the good of everyone.

I think that if a company treats their employees well, gives good service to their customers and can still stay afloat, they are doing something right.

One good thing is that the IT department is MUCH better now with a certain person gone. She should have been gone a long time ago but I think she and the owner were family or old friends.

Another good thing is that they are working on the QA department but that is a complaint for other people.

The only bad thing I can think of is that they don't pay holidays yet if you don't work them.
I think it is clear that the intent was not to
warn other MTs, but to warn the non-paying MTSO of the upcoming wrath about to be unleashed.  Why not just send her an e-mail?  I dunno.
Sorry I wasn't clear.
What I wrote in haste wasn't the whole story. The meds I was allergic to were in my record for a long time. (Typed in the US.)

The MORE RECENT records, however, had some things wrong, and others (like the allergy) were missing. Some of the strange phrases and English words that didn't fit, and were out-of-place, tipped me off to the fact that these records were very likely typed by an ESL. The healthcare clinic's caginess when I tried to dig up the origin of the typed document led me to believe they had changed MTSO's (I used to know the company that did their work), and very likely went with one of the bargain-basement transcription providers.

Like they say, You get what you pay for.
I did not make myself clear -- sm
I am glad if they are not hiring (work there) but if they ARE hiring as is implied (and I realize it is not proven here) on this board then that would mean they are now lying to us too -- which I sincerely hope they are not........
Thanks for trying to clear things up:) sm
This entire thread has given me a headache!
I don't believe I said that that THAT was already not made clear sm

although I do not think it is fair.  Most companies will pay on Friday, not make you wait 2 days later.  I have the official pay schedule, and I said that I didn't get paid until Monday.

My objection here is that if you are going to take extra out of my check, you should give me a warning about it the payday before and not the day of my check, saying 'oh by the way, we are going to take out double premiums starting this check.

Clear Choice

Anyone work for Clear Choice or People Support?  Good, bad, ugly?

Your dictators are clear, and there's *no guessing at all*??

So if you get one that isn't so clear, does that mean you *guess*??

Now it's clear why she fits in so well at Diskriter. LOL~~~
x
Does anyone else see a clear pattern of eroding
Accepting work from places like this is detrimental to MTs everywhere. There are better places to work.
