with numbness in my tailbone, and left buttock with tingling down into my left leg and foot.  I can't afford a new chair right now as I just bought this one six months ago.  I have to get up and stretch out and walk around quite often during the day and its cutting into my production.

With short arms, I need chair with shallow seat, good back support and high back. Want arm rests
:+
I like a chair with arms, deep seat and high back (sm)
so I bought a leather chair from Costco about a year ago and have never regretted it.  Think it is made by Lane.  It was a little expensive but since I'm in it for hours a day - sometimes 12 - I figure it was an important investment... plus it is so good looking we often wheel into other parts of house when we need extra seating :)
If one cannot afford the Herman Miller Aeron chair (wish), can someone recommend a less..sm
expensive chair that has most of the features?  I am primarily interested in neck/back support with the ability to adjust as needed.  I live in a fairly remote area and the only office equipment stores I have access to are Office Depot and Office Max.  I have one from Office Max but it was a cheap one and doesn't offer much.  I need to invest in a good one, but don't have the $900 for the Herman Miller.  So, if anyone has any suggestions, I would love your advice.  TIA!
Office chair - sm

If you have a clothes shaver, that should remove the "tufts"...as far as keeping it clean, the towel probably contributed to the "tufts", so I would try a pillowcase or other non-linty material.  Spray foam cleaner made for furniture should help keep it clean, or ScotchGuard maybe?   The shaver is definitely a help for all kinds of pills and pulls in clothes.  I love mine.  Hope this helps.

Does anyone know of a good ergonomic chair to help with upper back/neck pain? I haven't found one yet and am in desperate need. Thanks!
Office chair
I got a wonderful one from Sams...has about 6-8 different adjustments for knees, hips, lower back, etc. I think it was about $125, but I've had it quite sometime and am still happy w/it.
I got a chair at Office Max and I love it.
I only paid $89 as it was on sale, down from around $150. It sits wonderfully and adjusts to any position I want. Even the armrests adjust. I can positions throughout the day if I get uncomfortable with one position. I don't know the brand, I'd have to look on mine at home if you are interested.
Office Chair Question
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good back support for your office chair? My back has been bothering me more lately so I was curious as to what everyone else uses to help stay comfortable while they have to sit in the chair.

Need new office chair. Any recommendations? sm

I sold my Herman Miller as it was simply not comfortable to me so am very cautious about spending that much money again for a chair.  I think I would like one that has a high back and a neck support.  I definitely need one with arms that adjust in so that I can rest my arms while typing.  Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated as I am sitting on a dining room chair now!

Office chair restraints
Google for Rifton... They produce high quality handicap harnesses of all sorts. If I could afford it I would get one of their sitting harnesses that holds the person in a "working position" slightly leaning forward from the hips, spine straight, fully supported. They cost but they would be so comfortable. I'm not handicapped, just sore backed!
Anyone use the AK Octane office chair?

Keeping office chair clean

Hi,

I have a cloth office chair that is fairly new.  Lately, I noticed it's getting a bit of those little tufts (for lack of a better word) of fabric on the seat.  I had used a towel to cover the seat for awhile but it was more hassle than it was worth.  I was wondering how I can get this cleaned up and how I can prevent it from happening again.  TIA

I wish there were office chair restraints to hold

nm

Nope. Not after sitting in an office chair for 15 years

with earphones stuck in my ears all day.

At least this way if I go to get a drink, I don't hear all about what this one said or that one said, blah, blah, blah.

Have most people had good luck with their MQ office closing and moving to the regional office. Have
things gotten better or worse for you.
Can someone recommend a good company?

You can only find out so much from a company's website......of course they are not going to include "not enough work to keep you busy" or "so much work you will never leave your desk again" or even better yet "we really never send you a paycheck."   I am looking for a full-time home-based position, preferably clinic, and I do have experience.  Can someone recommend a company?!?!?!?!

Can someone recommend a good spellchecker? ~sm~

I want a spellchecker that comes on CD that I can use again if my computer crashes.  I had to purchase a new computer because my old one crashed and I am in the process of installing all my programs and software on my new PC.  I have a line counting program and a spellchecker but they are both on A discs and newer computers do not have an A drive.  Also, these discs (which I did not know when I purchased them) only gave you so many installations so if you wanted to move it from computer to another you had to uninstall it from one.  Since my old computer crashed, I cannot go in and uninstall it and put it back on the floppy.  I can't even sell these two programs on ebay as I have no idea how many installations are left on them!  I do not understand this - I realize companies are protecting themselves from a person purchasing their product and then giving it to their friends but I have had times when I had more than one computer in my home and they were all only for my use.  After having this last computer crash, I realize that I need another back up computer because I make too much money working on it to be without it and I have commitments that I have to honor.

Anyone recommend a good, reliable online...sm
pharmacy that they, themselves had used.. with no ripoffs?  I know there are many reputable ones out there but also many scamful, dangerous ones.  I know they are generally not cheap, but I need to know I'm getting what I ordered.
Can anyone recommend a good virus/security protection?

I currently use a program called PC cillin.  I have used Norton, and with both I still managed to get "worms" on my computer. Also, my internet service is with AOL.

Thanks.

Could anyone recommend a good headset and where they got it. Mine keeps cutting out.
I have had a heck of a time finding a good set of ear phones.. Everytime I buy a pair they either break, cord isnt long enough or sound quality isnt good.. HELP...
Can anyone recommend a good, safe Canadian pharmacy? NM

Insurance is good, but I'd recommend you don't get too specific in coverage.
You could contact a company like Colonial Supplemental Insurance to get accident coverage and consider what other policies you might need, not just for your hands. After all, what if you are in an accident and it's your back that's keeping you away from your desk?
Can anyone recommend any good acute care reference books
I am thinking of changing from clinic to acute care transcription.  Can anyone recommend any good reference books that I should have?  TIA
Anyone can recommend headphones--good to great sound--Help-- See inside

Hi everyone.  I have a need for some headphones with great sound.  Years ago at Radio Shack for approximately $50.00 you could get the best headphones, like the CIA uses for listening I think :)  The sound was fantastic and far better than our MT headphones.

Well, now I have an account with very unclear, low volume.  I just need better sound coming to the ears.  Like in the olden days when I just typed because I could actually hear what they were saying!

If anyone has any great headphones, that minimize listening time and maximize typing time, please post or email me.  I left my email address, just click the link to email.  Thanks SOOOOOO much.  Thanks.  Really.  Thanks.

Can somone recommend a good health insurance plan for my son who is in college? *sm*
He needed one more class for his bachelor's degree and because he is not considered full-time, he is no longer covered on my plan.  Thanks.
Can anywone recommend a good vacuum cleaner? My old one broke and has to be replaced. Thanks. NM

Wish Escription would mention that when they recommend the adapters or just recommend the one. nm

Cushion
I just got a memory foam back cushion at Office Depot last week and I am loving it so far. I straps to the back of your chair so you can adjust the height. I also got the matching memory foam seat pad.
Gel cushion
Has anyone tried this yet?  I need something to relieve pressure off tailbone and, of course, buttocks.  Does this really help?  Would like opinions please.  Thanks
I just ordered a gel cushion....
with a section cut out in the back for the coccyx...I sure hope it helps, by the end of the day my bum is tingling and my back aches. Anyway, if it is helpful I will post another note.
Massaging back cushion..sm
Has anyone tried using one of those back massager cushions while they type?  I am specifically wondering about the new one by Shiazu (sp?).  Thanks for any feedback.
I do the same thing. Put a pillow/cushion in my lap
and type away.  I had purchased an ergonomic keyboard and simply could not get used to using it.  I read on one of these boards about somebody putting their keyboard in their lap.  I tried that with my ergo keyboard and now I love it.  It's really hard to type on a flat keyboard now.  Typing with my keyboard in my lap is much easier on my shoulders and back, too.  I usually have one leg propped up on the hard drive of my computer, too.
There is a seat for every butt, there is the
"one" for everyone, you just have to find them or they have to find you. I believe there is a soulmate out there for everyone.

I have mine!
Are you looking for the one where the seat raises up?

Our local Wal-Mart sells them for about $400.00, but they are kind of small. I know you said your mom was short, but if she is wide too the Wal-Mart one wouldn't be comfortable.   If you have a local medical supply company they would probably have them, or the info where you can order them.   I wouldn't get one that is fabric in case of accidents.

I'm 4'11" and I have trouble with recliners too.  I have to have them where they have the lever on the side to raise and lower the foot rest.

The seat in my Blazer

I wish I could get a chair like that!  Adjustable back support, an arm rest when you feel like it...

Right know I have a crap chair but I sit on pillows and I find it helps my bum from going numb.  Good luck!

I better switch my computer chair for a potty chair. nm

I need a seat belt some days sm
I tend to take a break about every hour to hour and a half. I am bad, but it helps because I get stiff if I don't move often enough.

My boss suggested a seat belt last week. Yeah, there is an idea. Of an 8-hour day, I rarely manage more then 5 hours of actual typing time, but I do get my lines in. If I would sit better, I'd make more money...then I'd owe Uncle Sam more and I'd still be broke.

I'll take my breaks.

Oh and I work 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. at least that is my set hours. I am usually still lurking and working by 7 p.m. because I have to do every OP note that shows up, it is my job and they don't always get it done on time.
so, with 5 income properties, how did you come to have only 4000 for a cushion? What happends to y
If you are Christians I'd think you would know about steweardship, living within your means, being prideful. I find it hard to believe someone with income property didn't know what closing costs would be..you get paperwork early on that idicates approximate costs..they are usually fairly accurate, and never 2000 off. Good luck and keep us posted.
No check=MTSO fault. No savings or cushion=

IC good thing is no more office politics.....nm

Those are all very good reasons why I left the office, - sm
but at least I could leave at the end of the day, and afford to buy things at the supermarket on the way home. Money worries have become the big glaring issue that is always there, and won't go away no matter how hard or how many hours I work. And then, all that gets sabotaged when you run out of work. (Which is happening to me as I write this. I intended to work all afternoon and evening today to make little extra, and now that's not gonna happen.)

So everything is a trade-off, I guess. And as much as I hate to think about having to have a "work wardrobe" again, or deal with all the issues you mentioned, I hate it even more that I haven't funded my 401K in about 3 years, nor my savings account, which has been dwindling because I keep siphoning funds out of it to get by each month. I'm hoping to land an onsite job before my savings are depleted.
Does Anyone Know of A Good Medical Spell Checker For Office 2007?
Hello all! I am new to these boards :) . My husband bought me a new computer with office 2007 installed on it for Christmas :). I was curious if anyone knew of a good medical spell check for Office 2007. Thanks In Advance!!!
Is $15 an hour a good hourly rate for an in-house office position?

My 8-year-old threw up on the way home from family celebration Christmas Eve, all over the back seat

Then threw up approximately every hour from 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Christmas morning.  Not the Christmas I had planned, up cleaning bodily fluids all night.  Somehow Santa managed to come overnight, too.  My husband, me and the 2-year-old didn't get the bug until last night, it's vicious!  Hopefully that's all over now and we can enjoy the rest of our vacation!

I use Gold Touch tented up. LOVE it!!! Adjust seat to right height and hands stay in
:+
Good. Why dont you send some our way. What office do you work for so I can call and get your work.
:
Yes, I lost mine. I upgraded the Office 2000 package to Office 2003. sm
I have over 2000 autocorrect entries and lost them all as well as my supplemental dictionary for my Stedman's spellcheck. Lots of grief!

Maybe you will be lucky and not lose anything. Good luck to you.
Might be able to rent one from an office supply or office machine repair shop
