Not to mention that they want you to only type one space instead of two after a period. That may not be an issue for you, but I am am just giving my opinion. I wasn't going to do it.

TransHealth: What is the insurance and premiums
nm
You can't deduct insurance premiums if
they are taken out pretax if FT employee.
With regard to insurance premiums, sm

Who would you say has the best insurance to offer, at a reasonable price. I am currently paying about $500 for family coverage per month; that does not include dental and vision.  It is probably another 100 a month.

Also, what companies out there provide the equipment; including computer and software?

Insurance premiums question
Are there any companies that have health+dental insurance premiums for self, spouse and child(ren) for less than $400 total in premiums a month? Meaning, less than $200 taken out of each paycheck for premiums? Thank you for any leads.
Lower Health Insurance Premiums

Can anyone provide your average monthly cost for individual and/or family health insurance premiums?  I'm looking to change employers and most companies will not provide this information until after an applicant has gone through all the testing.  Who wants to bother with all that if the monthly health insurance premiums are outrageous?  The company I am with now has a very reasonable plan, and I need to find something comparable. I would greatly appreciate any information you can give.  Thanks so much for your time!!

How are they dishonest for taking out premiums for insurance that we signed up for? sm
Wow. People will bash any company for any reason.
Actually, I didn't, but my point is taking out double premiums for insurance sm
and I am glad that you find my distress so amusing.  Perhaps you can go pick some wings off flies too while you're at it.
DRC Insurance very high - sm
I was offered a position with DRC and would have taken it, but family health insurance coverage was something like $900 a month! There is no way I could pay that much and I needed the benefits.
I have their insurance now and it is rather high...however, (sm)
they are in the process of changing their benefits package so I'm hoping for something with a lower rate.  I have single coverage and pay about $400 a month currently.  I'm kind of waiting to see how much the new insurance is going to be.
There is insurance. Some consider it too high but they are getting sm
new insurance that is supposed to be lower in cost but better coverage.

I have the insurance they offer now, which is Unicare, and have no problems with it. I took out the family plan, which cost me $610 a month, but the insurance through my DH's company would have been over $800, so I am not complaining.
Insurance way too high. 12,000 lines per pay period.
All they offer are the few days of PTO. That does not include sick days or personal days and if you take a holiday off you will also have to use PTO to get paid for it, only pay for holidays if you work um.

My friend told me that there is no way she will be able to make the minimum line requirement after being switched to a VA account. She also said that on a whole their accounts are lousy and QA is very inconsistent.

MDI-FL. thinking of applying. Is medical insurance still high? That is what has stopped me before
I cant remember what the cost was but it seemed to be be high for single and family coverage. Anyone know?
Isnt their family medical insurance kind of high. I think that is
why I passed on them previously and they only wanted to pay 7.5 cpl for 12 years of experience.
i would call at the high ups every night after midnight to request you be taken off their employee l
keep calling each of them every night after midnight as they do to you until you finally make someone upset enough that they see to it that you are removed from ALL their lists. or you could block their # and do the spam for emails as the other poster said.
High insurance costs are a national problem, not just in MT. My husband's company sm
charges us $210.00 per paycheck for him, me and our 2 children. The deductible is $500, each visit costs us $25, prescriptions are $10 for generic and $25 for everything else. It is getting crazy everywhere.
TTS insurance is $400/mo for employee
zz
Employee Medical Insurance
Are there any national companies that pay the full premium for employee medical coverage or is this only offered if you work outside the home?  Thanks.
Employee only insurance is higher..sm
I was paying $61 a month with $20 co-pay.  Now I pay $99 a month with $40 copay and same decutible as before.
Great company and they pay employee insurance. nm
x
Holy cow..$900..they obviously are not contributing to their employee's insurance.
That is just outrageous and one of the worst I have heard being offered. At that rate, they can go get their own plans for half the price. I had applied but never mind..I pay $360 a month now for family insurance and 9.5 cpl..so forget them..
Anybody work for TransHealth as an employee and how do you like it? Is the insurance affordable?

I'm high level 4, all acute care, high ESL, many years exp. and highest QA grades...
In case you are wondering...All acute care, all specialties. I request new accounts, and yet they all run out of work...not just during usual slow periods...
I'm original poster and a high level 4 as well with high ESL accts, which I've always had...sm
My accts (10+) for the previous 12 years were all in the LA area. I consider ESL at Webmedx easy, even though my WebmedX accts are supposed to be high ESL. ALL of my STMs accounts are low on work--quite low. I've added more accounts. Not helpful if all are low in work. My supervisor at MQ was more helpful than my Webmedx STM.
They are not MT, but general transcription. Pay not very high. at least not as high as MT work.x

premiums
How much are the premiums going to be?  I turned down employment a while back because of the high price tag for health insurance.
(and what their premiums/copays are) sm
I can get insurance but there is a huge deductible, preexisting condition clause (of course) and OK copay--that is only relevent IF you can get through the $2000 deductible. How sick do you need to be make this kind of insurance work for you? If you just have well care visits, yearly stuff, you dont even get through that deductible and its cheaper to pay it yourself!
Medware raised premiums
Medware no longer has good benefits, at least as far as affordability goes. They recently increased the premiums and if you live in certain states, they are extremely high. Expect to pay between $100 to $200 a month in premiums depending on which state you live in.
Yes, that is pretty average in family ins premiums.
Maybe that'll help you some.
With little to no work, the company doubled my premiums - nm

401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
Statuatory employee versus regular employee....
Can someone tell me the difference between a statuatory employee versus a regular employee?  My company offeres IC or SE status....I am confused about whether switching over the SE would benefit me more than IC status that I have been for some time with them?  What are the benefits and disadvantages of being an SE versus IC?  Thanks for all of your help!
Insurance sucks compared to my old insurance... sm
The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars.  I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.
They hire both IC and employee. I am an employee (see message)
and I have full benefits. I am very happy that I came to work here. I came as a statutory employee from a large company. Everyone at MDI has been great to me.
Depends on if you are employee or statutory employee (sm)
Employee, 8th and 23rd of month
Stat. Employee, 15th and 30th month
Diskriter - Anyone go from their employee to hospital employee with them?
Thinking about giving up on being their employee and applying for a hospital employee position through them, they have one in PA right now that looks good.  How is it for scheduling?  Do you keep your line rate or get whatever the hospital pays? Who manages those accounts, is it the same PM and DR that are on the other ones?  I have DR and feel like she doesn't have a clue what she is doing and it is so annoying, but I just don't have the guts to let the company know she needs to step it up a notch because the transcriptionists are not happy under her.  Are QA the same people or through the hospital.  They have 1 QA that is constantly asking us questions on doctors and format, things we should be asking that QA person.  Annoying that new people move up to QA but people who've been there 2 or 3 years get treated like dirt and jumped account to account.
I think a lot of the high $$ MTs

produce the lines, but not necessarily the quality.  I know lots of MTs who never do any type of proofing before submitting work.  I used to work with one high producer, but the quality of her work was horrible.  This was several years ago and no spellchecker and no QA.  She would never survive in this business now with the error rate she had.

I'm sure there are some quality MTs that can also produce a huge amount of lines because they learn to work smarter and can type like a demon.

you ARE on the high end of

the pay scale and congrads to you!

It is NOT high ESL, no more than
nm
High ESL
I just want to point out that being a Transcriptionist should include learning to deal with ESL dictation. Obviously you should be compensated fairly for that, but the truth is being able to decipher different dictation is what makes us more valuable than a machine.
VERY HIGH ESL when I was there . . .
I struggled to make counts because the dictators were so difficult. I have a lot of experience with ESL, too. I liked her thought she was very nice, but struggled really bad with the ESL load.
high and dry?
What do you mean by high and dry.  I know for a fact that you have a lead for this account, a coordinator, LOTS of samples,  QA people who are available every shift - and very helpful. That doesn't even make sense.  You sound like a disgruntled individual.
Insurance Questions: Can you tell me what you pay for insurance through your

MTSO, which MTSO it is and whether the coverage is decent?  I currently pay $92.00 a pay period for decent coverage but am trying to figure out if I am getting a good deal or if I could do better elsewhere.

TIA.

Jo, I think you're going to be all right. You have a high sm
QA score and you are increasing your production consistently on a weekly basis. It takes such a long time for an MT to be able to sit down and transcribe whatever comes through the queue and make good money. This is very tough work, and we all learn every day. You have what sounds like great work habits, terrific quality, and a wonderful attitude. You'll do fine.
If you are a high producer (400+ lph) do you have to
even after you make your line count at Spheris?
She used to pay by the page and not very high. Don't know about now. nm
s
Seems to be about right. Not high, but normal. Thx! nm

High turnover.......
I live in New Jersey and this is a not a good company to work for....read the old posts about this company in the Archives. Not a good company....
Very high turnover....
They always keep running the same ad every 3 weeks or so, so that should tell you something about them. I did not like testing for them at all, so I just gave up! Horrible dictators.
This is like in high school where
Why are these companies wanting to have initials for their names?  Do they think it will make them more popular?  For example, TTS, TT, MQ, KS.....  There are others doing the same, and looks like this one that doesn't pay wants to be FST now so they sound more important and fly under the radar as Four Seasons known as a nonpayer.  Professional to me equals proper name, and isn't that what the BOS preaches?  Let's be professional insteady of like small children with little nicknames that are like baby talk!
