Me too....waiting on the work *sigh* (sm)
What is the deal, overhiring?  I have only been there a few months, but geez!  And I had heard really wonderful things about MDI-MD too before I started.  I really like them so far, but wish the work load was heavier.
C-phone accounts aren't any better, not enough work to make line counts there either. Sigh
nm
There was no work for me this morning and . . .

that was okay. I spent more time with my 2 babies. I held my 9 1/2 month old in my arms while he struggled to stay awake and finally gave in to his sleepiness. As I type this, I am listening to my "almost 2-year-old" laying on the living room floor "watching" TV talking to herself, curled up with her blanket, and almost sleeping. It makes me smile. Just about 15 minutes ago, I snuck outside and gave my horse a carrot and she nickered a nice hello. THAT is why I'm home.

I work for Transcend. Have been for about a 1-1/2 months. I have learned a lot and I hope to learn more. I checked my Ps and Qs before I left my in-house, cushy, very solid clinic position to work at home. I checked the money situation. (I was also lucky enough to land an IC job with a local clinic that pays .12cpl, but only comes out to $100 a week as they don't have much work for me.) I hemmed and hawed over it for 7 months before I made my decision to stay home. I will admit it, it is a little frustrating not to have work, but, there will be work later. I may never have benefits through them, I may have to marry my (not so darling...ha ha) boyfriend (the father of the two kids) in order to get health insurance....but I'll deal with it. I LOVE being at home. (BF is jealous and wants to be home to, my Dad, who is soon to be retiring, is jealous as well. Course, they're MEN and wouldn't be able to work and watch the kids, but I'll let them be jealous!)

When I first started with transcription over 7 years ago, I never even thought of working at home, never really crossed my mind. I feel very lucky to be in a career that allows me to do both, be at home and still have a career. I'm not afraid of hard work or minor setbacks. I've put up a 1/4 mile of horse fence in 90+ degree weather, this is easy. Sure, it may come with some "bull****, and slow times, and frustrating times, but then I have a morning like I did today...(see above)...and I sigh...and smile. To each his/her own. If ya don't like the stew, get out of the pot.

No, just out of work this morning

nm

No work this morning. nm
nm
Anyone have work at MDI this morning? nm
nm
I love MT work... I get up in the morning
put on a blonde wig and a tight dress, look like Anna Nicole Smith and type all day long.  And I'm not even a woman!
Yippee I actually did run out of work this morning!
Just went on out to the garden and picked some strawberries and rhubarb and made a pie.  Let's see what other fun I can have today. The weekend is coming up and I'm betting there'll be more than plenty and no long line of people waiting to do it.
Weird, I had work this morning and all day. sm
I will say that if you are going to hit no work, generally it is on a Monday a.m. after payroll ended Sunday night; everyone who was short on hours during the week ends up making up time on Sunday nights and it takes a few hours for Monday's work to stockpile.

There's a BUNCH on there now!
Any other TransTech people out of work this morning? sm
After the big hiring blitz, I am afraid that maybe my account is getting saturated.  I guess that is the way with all good things ... it doesn't last.
Why is TransTech hiring when I have no work this morning? sm
Why do these companies do this?  Hire, hire, hire while I am sitting here waiting for work for the past 3 hours.
Nope, suddenly no work at TT this morning
What is up with this???
my work loads anywhere from the morning to late afternoon...
but I have until sunday until midnight to get it done, so it is not like you are working the entire weekend...depends how fast and motivated you are--LOL
Amen! Yeah, work was low Tues morning,
but I said THANK GOODNESS so I could take a break. Came back later and there was plenty.

It's not like gasoline where a supply can be kept for the low times. No; any transcription company has to try to stay within TAT or they lose money. When they lose money, do they penalize the MTs? Nope; they eat it.

I firmly believe that the good companies want to hire good people and keep them, but also get good accounts and keep them, so they have to delicately manage things the best they can. They have to let people take vacations now and then, and they can't predict when people will be sick or have emergencies. If you've ever worked in a hospital medical records department, you know that some of the docs are notorious for waiting until they are threatened with loss of privileges before they catch up their backlogs. So then they go in and dictate 200 reports they shoud have been doing for the last 2 months. Get a few of those and then there's a real crisis. Everybody gets a notice to work - work - work. Finally 2 weeks later everybody has worked their tushes off and done all this extra work, and everything is caught up on Monday morning. Then the docs come straggling in to do their dictations on Monday, while MTs sit at their desks, fuming because their is no work. Well whose fault is that? Management's? Nope, that's just business. I doubt there is a business in this world that is the same day in and day out, 7 days a week, every week of the year.
Thanksgiving is weeks away, yet no work on TransTech this morning. sm
I have 2 accounts, with no work on either.  I used to think they cared, but now I am not so sure. If there is no work now, I have to think the closer it gets to Thanksgiving, it will really be awful.
That explains it, yesterday I had no work, this morning DS on today's date. NM

Clinic or acute care? I am looking to work 5-6 hours a day during the morning and early SM
afternoon hours.  Which type of work is more appropriate for this kind of schedule, clinic or acute care? I really do have some time constraints outside of these hours as well as on weekends, so I need to find something where I can concentrate on working during those daytime hours.  I am a newer Transcriptionist (at this point looking for IC), and I am hoping to find a place to stay for a long time.   Any advice appreciated.   Thanks
WOW....sigh.....

sigh

I think some of the posts have truth to them.  I don't think  QT has hired new MTs in ages and I would think that the quality issues that we are being threatened with pay reductions etc must be coming from the overseas work, which makes me angry.   Do they have other accounts besides this one?  I wish we could get some confirmation.

for...Sigh...

Your posting.....

'Not even gonna argue, as I can tell 100% from your dialect that you are Indian.'

About what else are you also 100% sure?

Sigh

So, it seems no one best post anything sad to say.  If its negative, even if true, it will hurt the little guy the most as we often have no legal recourse or money to obtain legal counsel if a company has done us wrong.  So, what is best course of action when investigating a company that has not paid their employees or other legal work-related matters?  Better Business Bureau?  Just wondering if anyone knows who you would contact to investigate before we sign-up or interview for a company.  Also, let's face it.  Transcription is becoming a very, very difficult profession regarding payment and employment.  I imagine probably best to check to make sure a legitimate company, ask questions of them as they do of you, prepare to be very flexible (24/7/365), be your own IT department for computer issues (if you work from home), and go in there with a positive attitude and hope for the best.  Otherwise, it seems it would be best only to post regarding words, actual jobs, software/hardware, etc. etc. and just light topics.  Just my take on it all but also which is why i am slowing weaning from the world of transcription.

sigh
That is why, IMHO, it is essential to have a side job. With the way the economy is today I would not dare have a job with just one company. Things can change too quickly.
sigh...no, I don't need that. Thanks for the info.
nm
How many of us are looking for a new job in the new year? ...sigh...nm
s
*sigh* I guess I will get through it one way or another :-)

Sigh, sorry, meant to go below.

No sense is right thanks. Sigh. nm

<> who said anything about you not being able to read? sm
I posted the ad so you could see where I saw the line rate. Guess I should have said, Apparently, she has several ads out there....
Sigh ... if only this were true
Unfortunately, if you'll take a hop skip and a jump over to the New MTs board, you'll find that they are actually willing to work for free.

And while a good talking to was given to the MT who said that, you can bet your lily white that there are hundreds more who DON'T post to this forum who are willing to do it.

Women are so desperate (after being sold the sun, moon, and stars by MT schools and paying a hefty price for them) to actually work in the field they paid to train in, they'll endure the mistreatment.

We cannot, however, argue that if they're willing to put up with it, that's what they get.

Would we say the same about the sweat shops in China and Vietnam?

Would we say the same about the people who still do business with the banks that have dragged our economy under through nefarious practices?

Moreover, would we say that it's okay for people to break the law and take advantage of people because people put up with it?

No.

I, for one, am tired of watching this happen. I worked HARD for this profession for 13 years. Every day, I see a piece of its integrity being stripped away. It's almost completely gone now, and it's probably too late. But I'd rather go out fighting than be taken out as one of the frequently humiliated and disrespected herd.
*sigh* it's happened in one way or another to ALL of us.
After all, that's the function of this particular board, isn't it?

Yes, sorry for the MDI'ers. Whaddya gonna do? They need to look for another job. How are they going to learn about the good/bad companies if the Company Board isn't serving its intended purpose?

The MDI'ers have gotten a sympathetic ear from everyone on this board for days and days now. Can't deny that!

But at some point this MDI thing has to stop monopolizing the board. How are MDI'ers going to find out information on other companies if the company board is really the MDI/Transcend board?

Just sayin'.
One more company (sigh) ScribeRight?

Well, I have been looking and looking.  I have interviews scheduled with Transcend and also Softscript.  I did research here on the boards about Softscript, and didn't like much of what I heard.

I also had a very nice woman from the boards here contact me and offer to refer me on to her company, and gave me numbers for contacts there.

So...today I was contacted by Scriberight.  They seemed very nice and the testing was quite easy.

Anyone know anything about them?  I'm sorry to keep posting these, but I have had to change jobs twice in the past two years due to lack of work, unstable companies, bad pay, etc....I would just like to stay put for a while and I value your opinions.

Thanks!

My hospital used to, but then they outsourced. sigh. nm

And my incredible spelling..... *sigh*
.
[sigh...] sounds like another Stepford MT.
XXX
Ugh .. hope 7 cpl is NOT average pay .. sigh. nm

Sigh. I had not planned to retire for
probably another 10-15 years, if my wrists hold out that long, and had fully intended/hoped to have MDI be my last MTSO.  I have waded through a lot of frogs before finding my proverbial prince in the MT world and had hoped to finish out my career here.  Now I'm just utterly disheartened by this recent turn of events.  I'm looking into finishing my degree (wanted to do that anyway) and seeing what my options are after that, may have to get out of the profession altogether.  It's depressing, as it's a job I love that keeps me challenged on a daily basis.  I just have no desire to start anew with another company.
sigh - same old question - WHICH medscribe?

ahem...make that BEST platform. sigh. nm
x
Absolutely I agree! Hindsight (sigh) ..sm
Yes, in hindsight I should not have done it. I had been in my office for days on end testing and testing. I remember it being very tough and took me a long time to finish. I was desperate (I guess) to seek my own accounts and thought this would be the first of many!

Never again! :)
[ Sigh!] I meant 'moment', not 'momwent'.

Sigh, why can't these companies just hire PTers to
work the weekends like they used to...
Yep. Guess racisim is alive and well. Sigh.
The misconceptions are overwhelming, aren't they? People really do need to open their minds and their eyes and educate themselves. This is why my relatives in New Zealand and England make fun of Americans, for being too afraid to travel and enjoy the rest of the world. Guess some folks just feel safer hiding under their little rocks at home waiting for the big, bad Muslims to come and get them. So sad.

Can you imagine if our ancestors had been too afraid to come to America? My family arrived in 1640, and raised tobacco in the original Jamestown settlement. Hardly a safe haven back then. Thank goodness I come from such stock. I've enjoyed visits to so many different places, met so many different cultures, it makes me sad for people who are scared into the corner by boogie-men.

Anyway, this is a fine opportunity for the right person. Racists and bigots need not apply.
Same old stuff, huh? ...sigh...really looking forward to making contact based on what you said.
s
*sigh* I guess I'll be sending out resumes today.
and now they have an ad on MT Daily and MT Jobs?  I don't get it.  I just got the backlog status report and there are a grand total of five reports on my account - and those have probably been snatched up by now by MTs waiting for work just like me.
Spheris? Word has it one more account was totally outsourced. Sigh

Sigh ... I fell in love with California the first time I visited when I was 17. sm

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to live there, but I agree -- you couldn't pay me enough to drive a bus in LA or SF.  I wouldn't even want to do it here in Denver.  Bus drivers, truck drivers, all of those who get around in big cities with big vehickles to accommodate have my utmost respect. I have trouble just backing up a car, much less somthing big as a house!

As for the bankruptcy thing, I admit I avoid the news if possible so I do not know about those issues, but I assume California will survive.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to live there, and I cannot even imagine trying to drive a bus in LA or SF or SD -- they deserve every penny they get!  Heck, I wouldn't even want to drive a bus here in Denver.  I have the utmost respect for bus drivers, truck drivers, and anyone else who drives in big cities with big vehicles in traffic and all that.  I have trouble just backing out a car, much less something as big as a house!

As for the bankruptcy thing, I must admit I play ostrich most of the time and do not watch the news so I haven't heard about that.  Guess even paradise has trouble.
