hospital account that started recently?  I've been on the account for about 6 weeks.  I'm struggling on it and I'd just like to talk to another MT on the account.

Re Diskriter, anyone work for the PA teaching hospital they have? SM
If so, can you post your opinion here?  Or you may email me if you'd like.  Thanks.
Not only that, but I would MUCH rather work for Keystrokes than Spheris as Keystrokes doesn't

They have at least 1, maybe 2 teaching
hospitals and you typically get a lot of ESLs with them.  You also get a ton of new dictators every year.   Pay is based on lots of things and many MTs have trouble figuring out their rate.   Many have complained how hard it is to make lines.   They are currently training women in Trinidad in medical transcription so it is a no brainer that the jobs will follow eventually.
that is why I got out of teaching also. I sm
could not take anymore of the work at home I have a child thing. Folks came in not even knowing what an MT was. The schools put no pre-requisites on the course, wanted the course done in too little time etc. Bottom line is you cannot tell these people anything, they have to find out for themselves. Some will stay in and keep learning, some wont. I just don't want to be their babysitter anymore.
Teaching hospital
I love my teaching hospital account at MDI. Many of the ESLs are better than the English-speaking docs.
teaching in the Phillipines ....

OP - If this is in response to the article about AAMT teaching (or overseeing teaching, I can't remember which off the top of my head) in the Phillipines, the use of the AAMT acronym is NOT our AAMT.  It is used for the name of a company (not, to my knowledge at any rate) affiliated with the AAMT.  You can Google the name of that company and it does have American in its name, but its not American Association of Medical Transcription (I think that's our AAMT's name? Its way to early for me to post, obviously, my brain is still asleep).  However, the point is, AAMT and AAMT are two different organizations.  There's also AAMT (Australian Association of Massage Therapists), and many others.  AAMT is not exclusively associated with our AAMT.

Just food for thought :)

teaching hospital
I don't work for Keystrokes but my account is also a teadching hospital and it is very difficult for me. There are so many ESLs. Some of the dictator are horrible. Is the account you are on the same?
Education. Think that I could get a job teaching and
Or at least partial forgiveness if I don't get a very high paying job at first. A dream of mine and the gov't is encouraging with loans and grants, so I decided to go for it. It will be hard work studying but then again it will help make ends meet and I will have a future, rather than sitting and feeling sorry for myself as an MT like do lately. Thanks for asking.
It depends. If it is a teaching hospital it can be very

difficult.  I had about 15 years' experience when I started a job where I did a teaching hospital and it was very challenging for me, lots of new tests, labs, etc.  New doctors rotated in in July and you got about 100 so you had to start over again with learning new dictators, who might use totally different tests, procedures, and equipment because they came from a different part of the U.S. or world.  I'm not currently working for a teaching hospital, but a large multi-hospital system.   For the most part it isn't that hard, though just like a teaching hospital you get a new batch of dictators every year.

GI procedures are easy and nothing really technical.   Ophthalmology is the same.  You usually only get cataract surgeries and occasionally something else, but most eye surgeries are done in eye centers so you don't get a lot of those.

Since you have so much experience you probably wouldn't have much trouble, but would have to look up lots of stuff initially.

Post your resume on the job boards.  There are companies who don't post openings, but will hire from the resumes.

My experience, teaching hospitals have a lot of ESL

I'm on a huge teaching hospital with..
eTransPlus. Surprisingly very few ESL dictators. I probably would do better with a smaller hospital but the work is interesting for sure. Good company to work for too, IMO. They do not do VR at all.
Nah, my dad was teaching me a lesson. You know one of those types.
I have learned young how to survive. This may also include having to deal with parents/boss who give you what they think you deserve and in some cases not much. One thing I did learn though in life you may not be able to depend on others, but you need to learn to depend on yourself.
LOVE teaching hospitals, makes you a better MT. NM
.
Had someone tell me they do a teaching hospital with them, if you like large accts. Might want to
s
I have 18 years experience with very large, well-known teaching hospitals. (sm)
and I went to TT in October with the big hiring push. Yep, there are lots of ESLs on my account, but no more than I've ever had on any previous account I've worked on. Most of the ESLs I'm getting are quite good, in my opinion. I can handle them. The one doc that gives me the most grief is actually EFL. He's just lazy and mush-mouthed. As for the sound quality, I haven't had a single problem with sound quality.
What I like about my current account(s) is that there are rarely any residents dictating! Oh! What a joy that is! Nothing like residents, whether ESL or EFL. Ugh!
Some people can deal with the ESLs, some can't. All you can do is try. We don't all fit into the same work situations.
I worked on a large teaching hospital account and was
frequently out of work.  KS didn't have the entire account.  I don't know if they had in-house MTs or they used more than one company.  You should have a backup account too, though there may be some  lag time between getting you a backup as they figure out where they can plug you in.   They supposedly are getting several new accounts so surely they should be plenty of work.
I doubt a huge teaching hospital "wants to
If it were a non-issue, they wouldn't even bother with it, as this is a big hospital, with the highest level trauma center, the highest level neonatal ICN, a well known heart facility, etc. etc. etc.  They are consistently named the best employer in the city.  They a well known and highly respected.  And they make sure things are done correctly and on the up and up and yes, there are rules that they follow, and that is one of them.
P.S. Sounds as though they are hiring for large teaching hospitals from the ad. Any info would be
appreciated.
Sorry. That was eTransPlus. TT had the miserable ESLs and teaching hospital that I couldn't

No. Teaching Hospital account, too many dictators = low line count = little $$$. nm

I know two people who work 3rd shift for Keystrokes on radiology and have a lot of work. Maybe you
on an account that has enough work. I hate to hear that someone doesn't have enough work or that they have a problem because I know that Keystrokes works to find the right account for every person. They do a lot for us but you have to talk to them until you find the right account or volume or hours for you.

I think that a lot of companies are that way but there is a lot of job-hopping in transcription. Everyone is looking for the perfect job but the grass is not always greener on the other side. There are a few MTSO's really are not good but for the most part, the others don't intentionally drive people away. That would not make sense. They need us to work as much as we need them to have the work there for us.

Teaching hospitals are no picnic! Accents up the wazoo, rotating interns every 3 months, won't ge

Keystrokes: Why should I come work for you?
I'm interested in working for you guys, but from what I've heard you don't furnish a computer, do not pay for long distance, do not pay for health insurance. Do you KS employees not mind all that? Is the money you make worth not having the above-mentioned items? Thanks for any input as I am very intrigued by this company but wondering about what is NOT provided.
? for those who work at Keystrokes.

Do you use Word?   Can you use Stedman's Spellchecker?  What Expander do you use?  I don't know the name of the account I'm going to be working on, but it is a hospital account.

I  forgot to ask these questions when talking with them today.

Does Keystrokes often run out of work?

Do You Work for Keystrokes?
ERMT --   Do you work for Keystrokes?  I was hoping for an individual message from you about your specific experiences and opinions about Keystrokes.  I can always go to the archives, etc.  But I wanted a personal reply from YOU.
I used to work for DSG before going to Keystrokes...
and I have never been happier...DSG constantly runs out of work, KS never does...unanswered emails at DSG, that never happens at KS...good luck in your decision but I would definitely choose Keystrokes after having worked for both companies mentioned above...
Anyone STILL low on work at Keystrokes???
Wow, these past 4 weeks or so have been the slowest that I have ever seen. All of my accounts have been very, very slow. If it doesn't pick up real soon, I may have to start sending resumes out, which I HATE to do as I love Keystrokes, but not loving the little to no work. Anyone else in the same situation?
Keystrokes....they work for me...nm

Anyone work for keystrokes?
Would love info from someone who works for Keystrokes, specifics on amount of work, company, how are they to work for, etc.  Thanks.
No.. I don't work for keystrokes

Do you work for Keystrokes? sm
There are no admin assistants in the office that are transcriptionists and there are no prn transcriptionists. You must be confusing them with someone else. They have started some part-time positions but do not have any PRN positions. I have worked for KS for 6 years now and am a lead. There are no and will not be p.r.n. positions due to TAT and other factors.

Also, KS no longer requires WindowsXP. More and more accounts are Vista compatible.

I work at Keystrokes
And I am more than willing to say that I like working for them very much, but there have been drawbacks with my employment as well. Work load on my accounts is up and down, don't know from one day to next if it will be busy or slow, but then again, just ask and you will be assigned a back up account to help fill in on the slow days. PTO time, definitely sucks. 1 week paid a year, and you can take up to 2 weeks without pay. Don't make any last minute plans, you need to get the approval 30 days in advance to take time off. Time off is blocked out around Christmas, which for people like me that are 2/3 of the way across country from their family is hard, but we adjust. The pay is good, the benefits on the other hand, though a good package, I find to be expensive and hard to afford. The job leads and management though are wonderful and usually willing to work with you on all issues. All in all, I do like working here and am not going to look elsewhere.
DOES ANYONE WORK FOR KEYSTROKES HELP

Does anyone out there work for keystrokes. I need some answers to some questions.  Please.  Thanks.

No work at Keystrokes
Anyone had this problem of recent? Also, QA fussing at you because you are not multilingual/mindreader/MD?
Anyone work for Keystrokes (Clinic)....

Can anyone tell me anything about this company?  How is the pay (on time???).   Is there plenty of work?  I was told I would be assigned to one doctor.... what happens if a doc does not dictate one day, can I get a second doc?  Any other help would be appreciated.

TIA

Keystrokes - Not Enough Radiology Work
I too thought Keystrokes would be my salvation when I read all the great posts about it, and accepted an offer in September.  But my radiology accounts dried up, and even though I have been begging for work, I have not been offered anything steady or stable.  Yes, everyone there is as nice as can be, paychecks (such as they are) are on-time, but from the time I get up until I go to bed I am lucky if I have a half-dozen reports.  My first/primary account went voice before I even started it. I asked for a backup and they gave me clinic notes - I only do radiology, I have 13 years of radiology.  I asked for another backup and had one for less than a month before it went voice.  During that month there were more transcriptionists than available dial-in lines, so couldn't get in to work half the time.  Now I've been given an account that I'm only allowed to work on weekend afternoons.  I continue to ask them to find me an account.  I absolutely cannot believe I am begging for work and earning nothing.  I have a family counting on me, I can't go on like this.  I am absolutely devastated.  CONSIDER VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU GO TO KEYSTROKES.
Keystrokes definitely a good one - work there now
Had a nightmare experience with TT. Have heard DeVenture is a good one but no personal experience.
I have never run out of work at Keystrokes, nor have I come close
I have 2 ER accounts, and they both keep me very busy. It is true that they make sure that everyone working there has enough work before they will hire more people. That's why I love them so much.
Does Keystrokes use Docuscribe? How are they to work for?

I am tired of geting burned by some of the companies that advertise here.  I want a job that has a lot of work, does not outsource and have good accounts.

My resume is looking worse and worse because I appear to be job hopping.  I want to find a good company where I settle in, work hard and retire in 7 or 8 years.

I worked for MQ for 11 years and loved DocQscribe.  I just saw an ad from Keystrokes that they use it and want to know if they are as good as they seem to work for.

This is so confusing.  Most of the companies either run out of work, send work to India or conveniently forget to pay for work done.  Help!  I need a good company!

Keystrokes is great to work for...
tons of work, great leads, benefits and great pay...I believe they just started using DocuqScribe recently though because I came from a company that used DocuqScribe and an account using that was not offered at the time...send in your resumes girls!!!
Keystrokes - Running out of work?
What type of account do you work at? I just got hired and my account will be a very large teaching hospital in the mid-west. I didn't think it was the kind of place that would run out of work but your comment has me concerned. Would you please expand on your experience with your account if you can? Thanks.
Do you have to work every weekend with Keystrokes?
x
Keystrokes and clinic work....sm
Does Keystrokes offer clinic work?  Thanks
I would love to work for Keystrokes but
I do not have a personal computer with XP and they stated that I needed to supply my own PC with XP.  Once I find a place that I can buy XP at a reasonable price I will apply.
keystrokes work situation
you must be on a different acct than me.....
Keystrokes work situation
I work on an ortho account...maybe just depends which account you get. Sorry not working out so well for you.
keystrokes work schedule
Do you have to work your entire 8-hour shift or can you stop once you reach minimum daily lines? thanks.
I work for Keystrokes also and they are awesome...
Love it there!!!
I work for Keystrokes and I love it...
