I'm glad I found out about this expander business. sm

I happened to stumble across an ad for Smartype, and it was about $200 ????


That's quite a bit more than I can afford to spend right now.   I want a good line count, but I've got Windows XP, with I believe MS Word 2002.  I'd buy Smartype if I had the $200 to spare.


I'd be really p'd off if I got with a company and needed to buy more things to work with their program, things I couldn't afford at that time.  That along with their $300 deposit?  More money than I've got to spend at this time. 


 We all know you go into a company believing you will be happy, and there are usually things you find out aftewards.  Whether they can be worked around or not, is a different issue for each individual. 


We are all about line count, that's the bottom line.  I'd also be really p'd about this line count issue in Lotus Notes.    All I want is to produce good work, and be accurately compensated for it.

AccuStat Carolinas is a great company.  Myself and many co-workers all keep in touch across the country as we all work for AccuStat and we all love them.  The people are great to work for, pay is on time and the work is plentiful. The managers really help and get you going so their support is the best I have found in this market really!

I've been with them since the end of March and they don't expect you to start out at 700 lines a day. I started at a very low number (don't remember off hand)and have increased it by 50 per week. I will be up to 700 lines per day by the end of the May. Platform is great and the team is of people are awesome to work for, too. I plan to go full-time just as soon as I quit my other very flex part-time company and the two places are like day and night! MDI appreciates their people! Do yourself a favor, if you are even remotely interested, check them out and talk to their recruiter.

I believe the concensus is you either love it or hate it. I personally love it and make lots of money.

Owner is great. I would recommend this company to anyone who wanted to be paid what they are worth and paid on time!
Best company I have found, BUT
I hate the ignoring of emails that goes on when they dont want to answer your question or address your concern.  Have sent a few nice words to one of the owners, a thank you, a gesture, a comment....no reply ever. Must not speak to the little people.  Same with DH.  Nice, caring folks usually, then the many unanswered inquiries are troubling.  At some point you just drop the issue because it's obvious you're being ignored and they don't want to deal with whatever.... so to pursue it puts one in an awkward position.  In the grand scheme of transcription, this is heaven, but what's up with the stonewalling?

It is from a pool of work, but I do not HAVE to take it, and I do not HAVE to meet a quota.  What a wonderful life!  And, no they're not hiring...  heehee 
I have found that company....

after working many years as an IC, I felt I needed more security, such as paid time off, retirement savings, completely affordable health care.  It is pretty close to the perfect company for me.  I keep to my schedule, I do my work, they leave me alone.  What more could I ask for?  BTW, it is Axolotl Corp.

doesnt require weekends. If that is what you want, that is great. I also don't work weekends after 32 years of this. My point is the OP has an attitude that NO MT should have to work weekends when the MTSO obviously requires it. Just because she/or yourself for that matter, doesn't think an MTSO needs/requires weekend workers, doesn't mean that some MTSO contracts dont' require it.

I get so tired of hearing about MTs who demand certain hours, certain days, gotta have their pick of the work, line quota, etc but never want to bend at all. The job is not about the MT but about the patients. Seems to me lots of MTs have forgotten that behind all of this are patients.

If an MTSO requires weekend work and one MT doesn't want to work weekends, there are 10 that will take the place of the one. I just hate hearing the whining by the MTs who won't bend at all when the work is low and they need the money. Its obvious to me that the OP has never had to support a family totally on an MT salary. It can be done but not by a whiny MT who wants their cake and eat it too! After 35 years, you should know that.

Honey, I am glad to have a job with ANY company!
In this economy, I don't date try to pick and choose based on whether a company outsources or not. If I owned an MTSO, I'd probably be outsourcing too because too many American MTs are prima donnas who think that just because they work from home, they should have freedom and not have to work a schedule.

Nobody is taking a job from me. There are PLENTY of MT jobs for every qualified American MT who wants one. Get over yourself.

Company found way to handle TAT. SM

After 5 pm, they are dumping out whatever reports are in editors ques and sending them out to MTs, but just certain MTs who have high ratings and are not allowed to leave any blanks.  Sounds like a great idea, except if one is the MT who gets stuck with all the junk, one right after the other.


This isn't VR either.

Can you share what small company you found (sm)
that offers benefits (even if it is more costly).  It seems that all I have talked to don't offer any and I can't afford to go without health insurance.  Thank you so much in advance.
I agree...I found this company to be very back and forth...
when there is work, everything is great...but when there is no work and you want more, somehow they can't come up with any and make excuses as to the lack of work, et cetera...I moved on and am happy I did... I know people who are happy there so to each their own, this is just my own experience...good luck!!!

Former DRC/Acusis MTs - Have you found a company as nice to work for (sm)
as DRC with good software, pay, benefits, etc?   Looks like REALLY good MTSO are few and far between.
Haven't found a great place yet . . ., was with last company three years.

I am so glad, so very glad that finally I have reached
the age that if we are low on work, I just take off. No problem at all and love the extra day or so off. I now have worked since the 70s and finally made to retirement age, get SS plus other retirement money coming in and thank the good Lord do not have to worry about if there is work or not. BTW, when I worked inhouse never ran out of work ever, only when transferring out to company do they run out of work. If I had to raise a family now I would most certainly cross train on other accts at my place but only have 1 that I work on, by choice.

Been here 7 years, back before it was bought out. There is endless work and that's NO joke. Small management staff, pay on time. Only drawback for some is using the C-phone. No hassles, nobody looking over your shoulder. You just work and get paid.
TRS is awesome!
I have worked for TRS for just over 2 years and couldn't be happier. TRS truly cares about its employees and it shows. I can't imagine working anywhere else.

I am VERY interested in the 3000 lines/6-8 hours.  WOW!  Can you emaiil me and share you knowledge on how you acheived this goal.  Do you do this consistently, daily?  I think I am pretty up there usually coming in around 2000, but I am very interested in how skilled, quality MTs come in at 3000 a day consistently???  Please share you knowledge with me so I can try it.  Thank you for the great post!  I am so frustrated reading this line count stuff.   I love Transtech and my sense, as good as it can be in this remote working situation, is that they are honest people and wound not intentionally mesh with line counts.

why do they have so much turnover and why are there so many posters who worked there and left? Don't you have to wonder about a company that is so great but still has to advertise?
