Computter computer? Now what are you talking about? Honestly, you're like a nosy neighbor

Posted By: MTMQ on 2005-08-03
In Reply to: I doubt anyone posting about Spheris is using company computer, so how exactly would - they be fired? Get a life.

budding into halfway thru a conversation! What are you talking about getting fired on a computer?  You are lame, girl!! We WERE having an adult conversation here. BusyMTing and I are understanding each other just fine! Go back outside and play with your friends!

You're my neighbor!
I'm in Rome.
Honestly, I think you're doing MDI a
disservice by carrying on. Your reviews really are backfiring. They don't mess around with stuff like this at MDI, so good luck.  Its getting old.
I honestly think you're being condescending and
rude about the comfy jammies statement. This career and its earning implications is so more vast than women wanting to stay home in their jammies. Please don't be so ignorant. Of course the MTSOs played on our desire to stay home and raise our families, but lots of other factors played into our pay rates plummeting - offshoring and competition among the big nationals. I've been in this career, working from home, my entire adult life, nearly 27 years now, and my choices were not based on my desire to - stay home in my jammies - as you succinctly put it. Even now as I look at new companies - the bottom line average offer is 8 cpl - period I have great credentials and experiences, but that is it. Will I sacrifice my entire life style for 27 years or accept the 8 cpl eventually? I'll not toss my lifestyle to the wind - my family is too important to me. Not my jammies...
Or they're downplaying it...At this point, do you honestly expect the truth?
LOL!!!

I honestly am very glad you're happy! I juggled 2 nationals for a while, and it was exhausting.
Though if I could, I would probably go back to Spheris. Long story there, but probably would not be rehired as I never made it thru training. Just trained with the biggest bunch of, well, MTs. If one more person clapped those little hand icons at some lame joke, I thought I would vomit. Actually did vomit...I was very ill, and just folded...Get rid of the clapping hand icons!!!
Is it THEIR computer that you're using? If not, they have
absolutely NO RIGHT.
Did they tell you have to GO there to get their computer and for training? They're in NJ. nm

Don't mean to be nosy...
A friend was offered a job at TT.  She asked me about the lawsuit.  I don't know anymore than I've got from this site.  I like TT but did not know whether to advise her to take a job with a company that sues employees for speaking out (her words).  Anyway, thanks for answering!
You're using her computer? Doesn't sound
If you truly are an IC - I would send her an invoice.  She will need your soc. sec. # or tax ID for reporting purposes - that's pretty standard.
I don't know what you're talking about

I think you're talking about
the company I just left, so here's my experience: Last August, we went from a very good program where I could do 250 to 300 lph WITHOUT Expanders to the DQS program WITH EXPANDERS, it's now ten months later, and I'm very, very fortunate to do 150 to 200 lph. I have 29 years of experience and am pretty quick...this is the number one reason I left...if you're going to DQS, expect to lose about 25% of your line count. I never could figure it out and never could get my PS interested enough to return my emails about it. Hope this helps.
Are you sure we're talking about the same
company? I wasn't aware of a rental fee, I know I don't pay one. I'm not sure where the job hopping came from....and I agree that you have the right to judge a company by what you read about it, but when you are reading good things why create a negative?
I know EXACTLY who you're talking about
hmmm?
I Believe I Know What Co. You're Talking About

If I'm right, it doesn't get better.  Ever.

Good luck!

You don't know what you're talking about
I never said I was leaving because of VR. I simply asked if anyone gave 2 weeks notice. I happen to have a job lined up with a hospital (no more MTSOs) earing in a week what I make at TT in a month. I would have left TT anyway for this job.
Another nosy one fighting with me over nothing! You women (?)
jump in threads and fight with the wrong person!! Aren't you embarassed? Can you follow conversations in real life? I doubt it! I'm not talking about computers or anything - I'm on Busy MTings side, really.  We're having a fine conversation, in case you hadn't stuck your nose in the full thread!!  I'm not the bozo worrying about whose computer she's using and that nonsense. AND YES I WORKED FOR SPHERIS!!  HORRIBLE! JUST ANOTHER MONSTER NATIONAL! And I work for MQ - YUCK.  But it pays the bills, though that is another story all together!  When you nosy posters who jump in a thread decide to jump in and bash, why not pick an intelligent fight with the correct person?  You make no sense and look like more of a jerk than you obviously think I am!!  Sorry, too, not a blonde!  Black as the Ace of Spades - wanna fight about my hair??
Well, as you said, that's as an IC. I think we're talking about employees. nm

I think you're talking about Transhealth. NM
nm
Sounds like you're talking about
TranScam. That's not their real name, just their earned nickname.

It used to be hospitals would train people, but it's very expensive and time-consuming. I think your friend could find that only if she lived in India.
6 cpl - I hope you're talking about
editing, here.  You have 4 years' acute care experience and should be making at least 8 cpl.  IC should pay more since they don't have to pay benefits.  Check the job board out.  I'm sure you'll find something.
You have no idea what you're talking about. sm
Most MTSO's do not make a fortune. They barely make the money that they would be paid hourly if you put all the hours together that they do. I was sick of working 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. I made good money on paper, about $150,000 a year, but that was working 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. That is about $23.00 an hour. I make more per hour as an MT and have evenings off, can play with my daughters, can eat hot meals without interruption. I work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day now and love it.

I could've afforded a yacht and a summer home and a lot of other things but I sure wouldn't have had time to use them or enjoy them. I spent too much time chasing MT's who did not do their jobs, had every excuse in the world as to why they did not meet their required lines, and making customers happy. No thank you. MTSO's can keep their wonderful lives. Mine is much better now.
Okay, then we're talking about a DIFFERENT 'CB'
I am CrankyBeach, sometimes (often) referred to as 'CB' on this board, by others (not by myself).

While I am certainly a cranky beach, I am nobody's supervisor, have not been anybody's supervisor EVER in the MT world, and I really don't even want a promotion... I've been there, done that (I was head of a billing department for many years), and I actually prefer being a minion. I've been at Transcend since April 1, 2009, when TRS was bought out. The only national companies I have ever worked for have been TRS and Transcend, which more or less amounts to the same thing.

So anybody named 'CB' who might have gotten a promotion in the latest merger is NOT me. Just trying to clarify the record....
Yes, you left out the fact that you don't know what you're talking about. sm
Keystrokes pays unemployment in every state that we have employees in (38 at this point).

Supply reference books? Supply fax machine? Yes. If someone cannot get something that will help them, the owner of Keystrokes always helps out.

My husband is a tradesman. He is an employee and is union. He has had to pay for his own tools, his own vehicle to and from work, his own clothes that are destroyed constantly, his own gas. Why should transcription be any different?

I have worked for Keystrokes for 5 years. I transcribe when needed, as many as 15,000 lines per pay period. I have had slow periods like everyone else.

Yes, I get paid a salary I earn in. If you want to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, filling in when transcriptionists call in or don't start their shift on time, giving up hot meals and nights out because a Transcriptionist cannot work their shift, then become management.

I have heard every excuse in the book. I have proofed work from experienced transcriptionists that look like a novice transcribed it. I have worked schedules around everyone's personal lives.

Think management is all fun and games? Think again. I make a good dollar because I earn it.
Wonder if who I'm thinking of is who you're talking about? That would explain a LOT. sm
This person gets away with so much, I don't know she's kept her job this long. Getting a timely response from her on even the smallest issue is impossible, and she always has an excuse for why she couldn't __________. And, she seems to lose her internet connection more than anybody I know, and it's always conveniently for a 3-day weekend. Or she'll take 9 days off to go to a 4-day convention. Or she'll take a long weekend and then conveniently be sick on her return day. I've never seen so many excuses. She gets away with it, though. It's not like she's even a good manager on the days she is around; she doesn't know anything about site profiles or have any client contacts. About all she does is forward emails from other managers who have taken the time to actually do their jobs.
Does any of this sound like your triple dipper?
Depends on if you're talking about US employees only or
Still at about 12K total including ICs and ILPs.

I hope I don't get that account you're talking about either.
I am a little scared now.
You're right. You have no idea what I'm talking about. Typical. nm
djf;lkj;
You're probalby talking about Cardioscribes, right?

attempting to cover that is beyond me.  Everyone you deal with regarding the work flow is from India.  Try to call the owner and you're hooked into a call center.

The latest large incentive they're talking about is...sm
for the BeyondTXT editing program and details were given to everyone working on that platform. Other incentives are for various accounts at various times and details are provided by the ROM for those accounts as those incentives are put into place. The holiday incentive is for everyone, MDI as well as Transcend employees. This is for 3 cpl for all lines transcribed on the 6 national holidays as long as you meet the criteria outlined in the policy. If you do not have a copy of this and would like to receive it, e-mail me and I'll be happy to send it to you.
Just hold on a second! You're the one who is on here acting superior and talking about weeding o

"bad" transcriptionists.  Can't help but wonder how good you are when you can't even form a complete sentence.

I love it when people get on here and criticize others' abilities and talk about bad Transcriptionist when their own posts are so sloppy.  I love the excuse, "I'm not working now."  I try to be literate whether I'm working or not.  I don't have to put on my "literacy hat" when I go to work.  I wear it all the time, and although I certainly understand typos and make my fair share of them, I don't understand how or why someone chooses not to be literate simply because they're not working but suddenly transforms into a competent, literate person when they are working.  I just don't get it.  I guess for some, literacy truly is WORK.

Like I said, everyone makes mistakes.  But the next time you sit up there on your pedestal, criticize others and talk about weeding out "bad" transcriptionists, you might want to proofread your own stuff so it doesn't come back to bite you in the butt.

Yes, and because your neighbor gets
knocked around even worse by her hubby, you're actually glad yours is not that bad.  And maybe you sorta think you deserve a good smack once and awhile.  And when people say should call the police, you answer that you don't want to ''make him any madder'' and besides, him being in jail, what good would that do you as far as paying the rent?
Meridian here too. :) Hi neighbor!
/
They must have misunderstood. My neighbor started with them sm
just 2 weeks ago and was give rates for Unicare and told that it may change but at this point, Unicare is what is offered. They know what the rates are. There is only one recruiter, and she is the same one that hired me, hired my neighbor and hired a few others I know.

If this person works there, she should ask for rates. Obviously, she has not or she would know what the rates are.
If you go to the same store every day and spend a lot of money and your neighbor
and the storeowner gives your neighbor a $50 discount for being a new shopper, would you feel entitled to a discount because you gave the shopper so much of your business? Better yet, big insurance companies send a lot of business to doctors and hospitals and they get discounts on the medical bills that individual patients with no insurance can't get.  Are the big insurance companies entitled to this because they give more business than the individual patients?
Or lost in the mail. My neighbor came back from
vacation yesterday and went down to pick up their mail they had on hold. They had at least 17 pieces of my mail in their hold box from the last 2 weeks, 1 of which was the nice card from MDI with a gift certificate.

Don't always blame a company for things not arriving.
patients care....tell post office, tellers, cashier, neighbor,

I wanted to use my own computer and get rid of the RENT on TT computer, but Vista is not compatible.
Good way to make them money.  Not have to upgrade software so that Vista is compatible with Vista.  Huh?
One more computer question. I got my computer today and
trying to set it up.  Man unpacking the box and setting everything up is a major undertaking; more so for me because I used a laptop before and my desk isn't tower friendly.   Anyway, no info came with the tower and I don't yet have the password to get in (paperwork says to call M-F).  Is the tower WiFi compatible?   My DSL is hooked to a different computer and I wanted to know if I can setup new computer as WiFi or if I need to move modem to new computer and set other computer up as WiFi.
I have to honestly say that if someone SM

needs a really flexible schedule or likes to jump on and off, TransHealth is probably not the company for them.  I am not saying that they are mean but I think that if someone has a lot going on in their life on a personal level there isn't going to be a lot of accommodation for that.

Honestly, none.

Honestly.....
I think we should form our own USAMT for US MTs only and that we disapprove of offshoring and no ridiculously high fees for anything.
I honestly don't know

Like I said before, I have never QA'd below a 99.2 and this 98.9 score is absolutely killing me to begin with.  Then to be put on full QA for the first time in my life after being taken off (never even had this as a newbie).  I seriously cried.

I get that some of the mistakes that I made were stupid, but like you said, I am still maintaining their quality standard stated in my contract, so I don't understand.  My errors were .25 and .50 point errors.  So nothing terribly significant.  I am not making excuses for myself and maybe I deserved to be threatened, but maybe their standards should be stated differently.

It wasn't a harsh e-mail.  It is just the point.  Getting your job threatened really scares the crap out of you.  Especially when you are still doing okay by the standards of a lot of companies.

I would honestly like to know what you consider a
very high line rate. Your post is whatever it is - bottom line is - what do you consider a very high line rate? I, too, am a veteran of this field - have spent my entire adult life perfecting my skills - Not bragging, just factual, I know just about anything and everything one could need to know in the medical field, including drugs and dosages, etc. I can diagnosis any patient right along with the doctor - in fact, that's one of the few things that keeps me from dying of boredom some days - diagnosing in my mind as I transcribe symptoms, lab values, etc. I am an MT and also a QA specialist - My work is flawless, as is my work history as far as companies, etc. I can type anything and everything, and I love ESLs. I always pass testing with flying colors, having even been told that I was the only MT who ever got some obscure term on a transcription test - I am polite on interviews, and have been offered a job every single time I have ever applied to a company. Yet the average cents per line rate that I have been offered, even with 25 years of incredible experience under my belt, is 8 to 9 cpl, and the 9 cpl was only once as an IC. I have never ever gotten any company to offer me more than that, and only make 10 cpl at my current employer after getting tiny little .0025 cpl raises over 10 years. Years ago full time I made $80K and up, and part time when my kids were little I made $40K for a few hours a day. Now I run in the low $30K range working my behind off 6 to 7 days a week, 8+ hours a day. Its not me - I'm faster than I ever was and have more knowledge than I need. Again, what do you consider a high line rate, and where are these companies? Please answer, as it really should not be a guarded secret if you are honestly looking to help the industry.
Honestly, I'm not sure
But I would say if you haven't heard back in 4 or 5 days, it would probably be okay to call and check the status of your application. Better to do that than get lost in the shuffle.
Honestly? sm
If you have been around 16 years you are too sharp for their games and they just wanted to say no to you before you figured them out and said no to them. JMHO
Honestly, I do not know. sm

This would definitely be a tech question but SpeedType is a great program.  You can also use the AutoCorrect feature of Word.  I actually use both.  I use the AutoCorrect for my short entries and then my operative reports and longer stuff, I use SpeedType.  It all depends on the MTs preference though.

I honestly don't know
cuz I haven't gotten my Meditech set up yet.

Not to pry, but since your version doesn't have Expanders already built-in did Transcend help with the expense of getting InstantText? If I gotta pay for it myself I'll have to save up for it
Honestly, you should have done (sm)
your homework before selecting a name for your company.  The word Heartland is not carelessly tossed around on this site.  The company Heartland (not your company) has burned a lot of MTs.  Yes, I think you should spend the $500+ to change your company name.
Honestly...
Good luck getting any work! I'm on 5 different accounts and haven't met quota for nearly a year! The platform is very easy, it's getting the work that is very hard.
honestly just being there for him is a lot even if ..
you arent there holding his hand. Just tell him if he needs anything just to come to you whether it is a hug or not. I would still try to work as much and just take more breaks to check on him and hug him.

Really all you can do.

I honestly don't know, but I don't do ER . -sm
You could probably call the company or email them and ask... since they have quite a lot of different hospitals.
