EMR

All I know about EMR is that my doc and his nurse hate it.  Local ERs use it and they hate it.  It seems more time consuming to me than dictation, doc agrees but he's part of a big group so what he thinks doesn't count, the bean counters make the decisions.

I don't really know how the EMR thing works but talk about errors.  My doc was horrified at the mistake it made when it called in a prescription for me.  Pharmacist didn't catch it, I did.  So talk about errors MTs make being detrimental to patient care?????  I think all the VR/EMR is doing is adding mechanical error to the human error that already exists.  Not to mention that all this electronic stuff priced in the 100s of 1000s of dollars has to be paid for somehow and guess who will foot the bill?

So far as I know EMRs don't get edited and I'm betting it won't be long until the VR records won't be edited either.  My guess is after the MTSOs have all cleaned up on Obama's medical appropriation (our tax dollars at work) the big MTSOs will hang it up.

Again, the voice of reason and experience says anyone who needs a paycheck had better start thinking of another way to earn that paycheck.
