'I can't get rid of the devil I called,

Posted By: () on 2009-06-19
In Reply to: It isn't so much the protests - gourdpainter

this came into my mind, I think it is from Goethe's 'Faust?'

The 'devil' being the 'technology.' Technology makes our life easier, but when technology gets so perfected that it makes the human labor obsolete, that's bad, bad.........

We have to think of a way to stop evolution of technology!

LOL !

Devil's advocate
Then how can the doctors or accounts dictate to us that they want the report back in 24 hours, how they want it typed, etc.  Therfore all of the major companies should be employees of the hospital, etc.  What would we do if a plumber wanted to work graveyard and do our plumbing at night or a contractor decided to take our windows out in the middle of winter and put back in the middle of spring????  I still have to give my gals a time frame in which to work and have the report back, according to this I have no say to do this.
ah..the devil's doorway..sm
already predicted and already happening. Cannot stop it. It is meant to be.
Devil's advocate-
A) If they eliminated companies that offshored from the job lists, said lists would be a lot shorter than they already are. This site is for USA transcriptionists; it says nothing about where the companies need to be located.

B) It's a badly written ad since it doesn't say where the office is, but it is for in-house positions, and if they are located in the US, does that not make it an American job?

Devil's advocate
I hate to break it to you but the Sixties ended a looong time ago......
Can we say Devil wears prada...
and did she also add how a million girls would die for this job?
Not playing devil's advocate but something
...is that companies don't have nearly as much latitude to make exceptions to their policies as we might like to think.

This is due to the litigious environment that employment law has become over the last few decades. If you deviate from your formal policies or procedures, you will discover that you can be sued by other employees (or even former employees) for whom you did not make the same exception.

So, corporate counsel routinely advise their clients: Set a policy and then stick with it 100% because you're opening Pandora's box if you don't.

Sad, but very true.
that place is he** and the owner is the devil. good luck with that.

InterPro Medical...Hope this doesn't appear to be selling soul to devil.... but
I am seriously considering working for InterPro (a company owned by India that outsources).  Never thought I would, but I see they have BCBS insurance which starts in 30 days of employment, and other good benefits.   I am a diabetic with hypertension and paying almost $400.00 a month for Cobra health insurance, which will expire soon, thus will be left uninsured.  I've tried getting individual insurance, but no one will ensure because of my health problems.   Can anyone give me some specs on InterPro, i.e. current employees, etc.., or any other companies where insurance goes in effect 30 days of employment.

They have called me twice and I have not yet called them back
Per your recommendation, I just might. Thank you.
I called and called and e-mailed my STM. When that got no

results I went over her head.  Got another account, but with 3 accounts still not enough work to get in more than 20 hours/week.  I worked a shift that was part 2nd/part 3rd.  Some days OT was offered, but then there wouldn't be work the next day.

No one called you a joke, just called the post a joke because
we all know better, but you're entitled to your opinion.  You're the one insulting saying those of us who don't like SS probably couldn't cut it and that is the reason for our complaints.   You would be hard pressed to find anyone who ever worked for SS to agree with you about how wonderful they are.   They aren't getting new accounts, yet they always have an ad running - umm, let me think why that is.
When I was called ...
I called Corporate back. I asked why were getting a call to verify we had received the letter. I was told that they wanted to verify the correct addresses for every employee, making sure each had received the letter, because our packets will be mailed out on 9/30 and are individualized as far as our base rates.

Personally, I would imagine that they have reviewed years of experience of MTs as well as the difficulty of accounts, as they have already stated, and come out with a tiered level of base rates -- the more experience you have the higher your rate as well as the more difficult the account you work on, the higher the pay...pay commensurate with experience and difficulty of work.
I bet if you called them they

would tell you.

They just called me AGAIN!!!
OMG! I am going insane! I just got yet ANOTHER call from a different person at SPI saying that she got a call from the hospital that I used to transcribe for saying that they had all these stat reports that were way out of TAT and no one at all on that account was working! Go figure! We all quit!!!! I don't know how much more I can take of these calls. I told her that I had better not receive anymore of these calls as I have made it more than clear that I don't work there anymore and haven't in 5 months!!! UGH!!!
Yes, it was a little different for me at first, too, but I called
Wendy and she explained it to me. Pretty simple now. Give her a call. She is always extremely helpful. Good luck.
Have you called them? They are more than
a little disorganized lately, but a phone call seems to take care of the problem.
Someone called me...
The female I spoke with asked if I could produce 1300 lines/day (I said yes). She asked about my computer system (it met the required specs). She asked if I had an updated Cardiology book (I said yes). She said someone would call me soon--that was last month.
some guy called....
and he expected me to start right then and there-no paper work, contract, nothing. What made it worse, in the middle of him explaining the system and wanting me to start then, he kept telling me to hold on because he kept getting calls. He finally said he would call me right back (in the middle of me learning the system). I never answered his call.
called
Jim also called me for radiology hire. Anyone out there ever work for them? So many out there that just are not worth the aggravation
Called them...
I called Silentype today, as is my practice when I am job hunting to call and see how their office is run etc. I asked for HR/Recruiting and was told No I'm sorry, not today... and they hung up. What a bunch of idiots, what if I were an MD calling for some reason to speak with HR about a specific MT? SKip them :)
It's also called
supply and demand. There are so many MTs out of work and looking right now that they don't need to pay top dollar, even to the cream of the crop. There are too many MTs to choose from.
They called me...
I think thats what the meeting was going to be about too
I called my supervisor...
I really struggled with the decision to quit. I liked the company (a national) and accounts, but I could no longer handle the 20-hour minimum for PT as I already work a FT job and it just became too much. She was very nice about it and understood. She is a good supervisor and I felt I owed her that much. I did give a 2 week notice.
There is a company called
in Texas that I would strongly recommend staying away from. I worked for this company for a little over a month but the platform made it way to hard to get any reports in. The pay was good but without reports, no $$$. Anyway, when speaking with these people I was told that they would pay for the return of the equipment if the position did not work out. When I decided to leave, I called and was instructed on how to return the equipment (foot pedal). Once doing this, I received a bill from Fed-Ex as now they are not going to pay for it. When I talked to them in June, I was told to fax them the bill and they would take care of it. Today, I received another bill from Fed-Ex. I'm going to pay this bill but I just wanted to let you all know how shady this company is.

When they are trying to suck you in they act all "Christian like" but when things don't work out the horns come out. Be careful!
Called her again today ...
asked about start date, schedule, etc. and told her I'd call her back tomorrow. Will probably be accepting with them, starting on 11/28. You know how it sounds too good to be true? I sure hope it's not.
called big bucks usually do not....sm
SIT on forum boards 24/7/365...........*lolol*

Spheris called but...

They haven't gotten back in touch with me.  Should I wait or call them back?  The lady who interviewed me told me that she would have someone get in touch with me.  That was a week ago now.

I am not going to wait around for a phone call though.  I have been putting in other applications, but I really wanted to work with them.

Called out of the blue...sm

Have you ever been called out of the blue by a company which you did NOT submit an ap or resume to be offered a job?  Happened to me last night and I was a bit shocked.  It was what you would call a cold call, I guess.  Seemed odd...has anyone had a similar experience?

RE: Called out of the blue...........
If it was from Spheris, RUN LIKE HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL and don't look back!!!
Well you called her a liar. We have a lot of new MTs
who appear to be happy. When you call someone a liar, you should be prepared to back up that claim. I am sorry they changed their mind on the trainer position. Perhaps they put it on hold. At least they told you that they decided not to hire anyone. Some companies leave you hanging.
Sorry, no one ever called back
nm
I was called and one of the first things they said was..
do you read the message boards and do you have any questions about what was said about our company??!! At that point i had not, but since i have browsed and looks like they are not a very well liked company?? I would like to verify this as well.
Yep, one called today. sm
I asked a company, who I previously worked with, for a letter of reference, and she asked me if I could work for her again. Still waiting for counteroffer as I said yes with certain conditions.

A few years ago, I went in with a brochure to one of my previous clients, and they asked me to work with them again. With that one, I wish I had not gone back. We parted company this time, but not on friendly grounds. He has a nasty temperament.

My AC and TL have also called me many times not just ops
Like I said one AC is real bad about it, maybe you don't have the same one.
It's called a bindi.
What Indian women wear on their heads.
LOL they called and reported me
to the ASPCA for trying to feed them a lesser brand...

Did you know dogs LOVE love love cat food?

They are just called holidays, but
There are companies out that call them holidays and PAY MT's for them when off -- TRUE HOLIDAYS.  Unfortunately, Transtech is not one of those companies that DO PAY for a holiday UNLESS you work that holiday.  Otherwise, you use your accrued PTO hours to be off ANY of the holidays.  Not good !!!
Has anyone used a service called
Transcription Matchmaker? Seems like a good idea but don't have time to waste my time right now. Thanks.
Called Webmedx
I too called Webmedx and they confirmed that they are hiring for the account to start in a few weeks.  QT has never told us the truth about anything, from the Indian outsourcing, to being low on work, and are still lying instead of at least coming forth so we knew to look for jobs.  I hope they lose it all, they are a dirty all their own that is for sure.
I just called Transcend.
They have no affiliation whatsoever with a company called JAX Transcription and have no knowledge of this company.
Recruiter called while I was out (sm)
I guess I need to be more patient!
That's called doing business. sm

If you open a business without using your real name, you should file for a fictious name and go as far as trademarking that name. Otherwise, anybody can take that name for their own and it could cause a real mess. That person could have been in business LONGER than the date stated in the file. I used a fictitious company name for 7 years before I filed, but all the time watching to make sure no one jumped on it.

So, what you're saying is that you would not apply to any company that has a fictitious name? I.e., OSi, Medquist, Keystrokes, TransTech, or any other company like that?

Have you called them? I don't work for them now, but
had this issue regularly.  Their communication is horrible, but supposedly there were issues with the client's system being down and unable to transmit work - at least that is the story I got.
If they called me, I'd think about. Pasture(s) were not
nm
They called me 2 weeks ago.....
but I never returned their phone call because I misplaced the number. I had too much going on and somebody else made an offer to me, but I guess they are still hiring if they placed another ad.
It's called using my nogin.
I could not have paid my mortgage on $15 an hour. I was single at the time but I would not settle for that wage anyway. I was 30 at the time I went back to school to learn MT because at that age you should be making at least $20 IMO and by 40 which I am now at least in the high 20s. That is why I decided to do this for a living in the first place was because the money is good and I bought a house one month before I got my first job and was up to 20 in no time. It makes me a joke because I make a good living in this field by choosing not to do a high ESL account? I don't understand that comment at all. I am leaving the hard work for my coworkers? What are you a socialist?? I don't owe you or any other coworker anything. We live in a free enterprise society where it is a matter of choice of how well we do in life here. Our system is based on competetition and there will always be people who do well and people who don't in any career. If you choose to take whatever account that the MTSO is offering you then that is your choice, not mine. I am making a living to support my family!! I am supposed to somehow take whatever they give me like some kind of sheep.

I ask questions about a position, tell them what type of account I will do, what I want for pay, benefits, etc. and see if they can fit the bill or not. I get several offers and take the best offer. Plain and simple. There are many MTs that make what I make. I have never made under 40K and usually close to 50K with this career and I am done in 6-7 hours. No MT should be working longer than that. It is extremely unhealthy. Give me a break that I somehow am responsible for other MTs having lousy accounts. There are all different types of hospitals and clinics, some have high ESL, some don't.....
Anyone know of a company called
Just Your Type Transcription out of Illinois?  Any opinions?
Those spaces are called--sm
hard returns and I just found out that my company does not pay for those either. I had never even thought about those little spaces, but they are slightly more significant than you think. I was having a discrepancy with my line counts and the companies line counts and one of the items that caused that discrepancy is the hard returns. I get paid every two weeks, and depending on how many lines I produce in those two weeks, I ended up losing about 13.00 to 20.00 every two weeks. Those little trivial things add up, at least for me.
yes you do..it is called taxes...sm
and you give them money every time you buy prescription drugs, gasoline, oil, and other commodities that the big business interests have holdings in. Stop letting big business run the country..it is still WE the PEOPLE, all people..not just the rich, but I don't want to get political..wrong board and I don't want to be banned for speaking my opinion. So, I am saying no more on the subject. suggest you do the same.
