No IC the taxes kill you
I don't need bennies though have them through another source..Full time
Errors kill people
Most companies don't dock for simple errors, they dock for repeated major errors. You said you were a nurse, what would have happened if you gave a medication the patient was allergic to? It's the same with this job.  ONE simple error can cause serious harm and to have a flippant attitude about it is extremely sad.  What if that were your parent, grandparent, or child in that bad and the attitude of the person causing harm was oops.
Transcend - kill us with kindness while we starve to death.
Suddenly getting chatty e-mails and calls from my supervisor who never had the time of day for me before.  Of course the work has disappeared before I can get off the phone or get through the ridiculous e-mail updates about the weather, the kids, the in-laws, but nothing of substance and no helpful information is ever sent.  Guess they want us to say kind things about how nice they were after we are forced to quit and get different jobs.   This is one strange company.
Ah, a random work load can really kill production. Can they be routed

The handwriting is on the wall
Granted, some people aren't being affected YET.  But they will be.  I understand people want to hang on to the benfits that come from longevity, and won't leave until things get too hot for them personally.  But reading the situations of those miserable folks on the forums there should be a wakeup call, and the forums are the tip of the iceberg.  There were at least 6 teammates of mine who were as miserable as I was, and none of them ever posted on the forums about anything.  The sad thing about the forums is many of the people there are desperately seeking help from each other, as they cannot get answers OR help from tech support or their supes.
Writing on the wall
I think its time for us all to think about different careers...the writing is on the wall.  In NY state every hospital and doctor has to be on EMR by 2008...and I'm sure more states will follow.
The writing is on the wall

If you truly believe what you say, then don't stay another minute. Run, FOR-REST run!
I saw the writing on the wall a month or so ago
When my primary was consistently out of work I hesitated to go to take work from my secondary accts because that would take away from THEIR lines. I got a rather snippy email from my liason saying that of course I should gobble up secondary work, that's what they are there for. But the work was all gone by the time I got to that point. Can't win for losing. I agree w/previous poster; the more accts you cross-train on the more the work is going, going, gone.
I saw the writing on the wall and got out sooner after the buy out SM

It made me sick to see TransHealth become WMX!  I loved, loved, LOVED working for TransHealth.  I thought management were good people.  They even flew their QA staff to TN for Christmas parties, but then that last one was when they announced the buy out.  It was disappointing, but at least I got nice weekend trip out of the deal and a few good meals!

I miss the old TransHealth.  I would give my I-teeth to find a company and job like that one again.

I feel for you ex-TH-ers who have weathered the WMX storm only to now take pay cuts.  It sucks!

Thanks. I felt like bashing my head against a wall

It is time to read the writing on the wall and get out NOW!
They are going down and real fast!
Anybody into scrapbooking?(LOL).

Get out while you can. Major changes on the way.
I saw the writing on the wall a long time ago. Sorry for those who stuck around!! sm
I sure hope you find something soon......my heart goes out to you. Lesson learned, I suppose. When people show you who they really are....believe it.

Wall Street Journal article, October 2004
A friend sent this to me. UCSF heard from an overseas MT who had not been paid that if she did not receive the $$ owed her she would publish the reports on the internet. There was a lot of followup to this which I will not go into here, but why wouldn't this sort of thing still be possible.

Later that year there was a report of a group of MTs in Bangladesh who tried to force a change in their local management by threatening to make transcribed documents public.

After that California was supposedly looking at a bill to disallow sending confidential medical reports overseas as they are not bound by HIPPA. Never heard what came of that.

I still tell these stories to anyone considering sending work abroad. I just wish some of them overseas would be stupid enough to actually pull a few stunts like that and then see how much work we lose.
I think when you have someone who likes
their co that that does not mean they are a cheerleader. I would think they are in a better position of judgment that someone who does not work there.

People are much more willing to listen if someone has facts to go with a statement. The OP did not give one fact in this thread that backed up the claim of dishonesty
Not everybody likes to job hop. We have every right sm
and are wise, to judge a company by what we read about it, what they offer, before we bother with them.  Most people like to find a good company and stay there.  This one just seems way to sketchy to me, and their line rate and incentive plan, regardless of what other posters may say, is really low.  They charge rental for equipment, too, with is definitely a no-no in my book.  If they want you to use their equipment, they charge a deposit, but not a rental fee.
I just came on here and it seems absolutely no one likes their job at all

I personally work for a great company that does a lot for its' MTs and is consistently bashed on this board.  I do note, however, that almost every company is spoken about in a negative manner.  Is this a board where people just come and vent frustrations?  If so, I will not be visiting it anymore.

Hope you all have a great Memorial Day.

Nobody likes offshoring, but it's not going to go away.
You are only hurting yourself if you refuse to work for companies that offshore. If they can't get Americans to work for them, they are only going to offshore even more.
I am not going to argue with the likes sm
of you. Your word structure doesn't even sound like you are from this country. If not, you don't even belong on this board. Oh but I forgot, Why should this be?
One poster in another location likes it there. nm

Maybe she works, gets paid and likes her job
Did you ever think that Wilma puts in her time, gets paid and enjoys what she does?   I know I do.
Had contact with someone there recently who likes it, but they still don't have DD. nm

It likes to omit things too!

When I do a high-maintenance VR report (lots of corrections, dictator go-backs and formatting crap), I sometimes feel like this

On guard!

Or even worse, like this   or .  Rarely do I feel this way  unless its one of the rare well-trained work types/dictators that ends up in my queue of over 125 dictators on the account.

MTSOs GET A CLUE!!!  NO ONE LIKES HIGH MAINTENANCE!!!  If it's high maintenance it should be serviced accordingly (i.e. higher pay).

Not a nut. Happen to know someone likes slots.
A LOT.  Too much.  Keep slaving away for her, it's going into every slot machine in the country.
Consider yourself in the inner circle. She is great to people she likes but
quite the opposite if she does not. There is no pattern either, all a whim. I am lucky that she likes me, but I am afraid that the knife will someday be in my back.

JLG as a company has been great to me. Do not let the recruiter spoil the opportunity to work for a great company. Just grin and bear it because once you are in, you do not have to deal with her.
Nice to hear that someone likes this job. I have just started and so far so
good. It seems to me that those who don't like it may not have been meeting the criteria they require. They were very up front with me on what was expected and, as far as I can tell, as long as you do your job there shouldn't be a problem.
sound likes a good idea
and I do not believe it is just one MT...surely the company has at least a couple skilled MTs.  TAT is the name of the game and is what keeps every one having work.
Dunno.... the powers that be spawned the likes of
I can think of some foreign countries that might harbor server-crashers.

Their listing on mtjobs.com (#11) still has them in Wisconsin. A contact likes working for them,

There are good and bad things about most companies. I'm just saying what I personally find to be true for this company. Take it or leave it.
A contact says she likes it, sound is good, but you have to use autocorrect/text, no other expander

May not be confidential information but gossip/rumor at this point and no employer likes that.

Anybody working on Cquest, likes, dislikes?? good line rate??
Any information would be much appreciated....
Not everyone likes their boss. You do not have to like your boss to like sm
your job.  You don't even always like your job but like the money.  It is about personal preference.
Focus. sm
I worked for Focus doing editing and was not happy with the company. I applied for a transcription postion and was hired on the spot for an editing position.  Little did I know that I was editing work from India, which did not sit well with me.  I was using the Netcare platform and hated it.  I could not work for this company knowing that they were sending their work overseas and taking away our US jobs - but I had many good laughs while editing of what was actually dicated from the doctors and what was transcribed by the people in India.
Focus

No, I did not until I was hired. I live in Mass and their offices are also in Mass. I applied through an ad in the local paper.  When I met with them at their offices, I was told I would be transcribing for a local hospital account and also doing some editing, which was not the case when all was said and done.  I never did do any transcribing and lasted only a short time doing editing.  I agree that the line counts differ from your own and is something to be careful with when working for this company.

Focus
I have worked in transcription for 8 years at local offices and just have started working with Focus.  I have trouble not having jobs available during the hours that I agreed to work.  I was given the impression I was taking an editing position but so far have only done transcription. Please give me names of good companies to work for.
Focus
If you visit their website, it says they are based in Mass with offices all over the US. I could not find anything about India anywhere on their website. They may be Indian, but I was hard pressed to find that info. Also, if you Google them you will get negative posts about them being an Indian company (all from this site), but I have yet to see anyone actually back that up with concrete evidence. I guess you'll just have to decide for yourself. They wouldn't be the only company that is Indian anyway. There are companies that advertise on this site that outsource.
FOCUS, RUN AWAY
I worked for them and most of the office staff is Indian and they treat their employees horribly. They cut the all the editors pay. Most of the accounts are have horrible dictators. You can't make any money. They don't respect the MTs/editors.
RUN AWAY FROM FOCUS
They treat their employees terribly. The office staff is mostly Indian and they have no respect for their employees. I would not recommend working there. I know, I USED to work for them.
Focus
They currently pay .08 cpl for transcription and .04 cpl for VR editing.  You can either be IC or employee status.  I currently work for Focus Infomatics as an Independent Contractor and love it.  I do not do VR editing.  I have worked there for approximately three months.  Everyone has been very kind and helpful.  The account I work on keeps me very busy and I am making very good money.  They did mention VR editing to me when I was hired, but I have not been set up to do that yet.  It will be my decision to do that though.  They do offer benefits if you are employee status and they have direct deposit.  So far I have no complaints whatsoever!
FOCUS
Anybody out there who works for Focus doing editing on voice rec, can you tell  me what the average lines per hour are that you are able to achieve. Thanks a bunch for any info.
Focus

I am so glad to hear somebody else out there has the same problem I have.

Focus
The same thing happened to me at Focus. I am at another company working on the same platform and make alot more money as well. There is something going on with the way they count lines.
Focus
I started with Focus a couple weeks ago and love editing. Only drawback right now is running out of work but supposedly more accounts are coming on board soon so hopefully it will pick up then. I have no complaints other than low workload.
Focus
I worked for them last year and loved editing, but I had the same problem with running out of work.
Focus
I currently work for Focus and I am very happy there. There have been some changes made within the company lately including a new QA manager, which was greatly needed. I have plenty of work and make a good line rate. No complaints.
Focus
Yeah, and I see they have an ad today about needing MT/editors immediately! What's up with that? I have no work to do but yet they need them immediately!
