Great idea...

EXCELLENT CONCEPT!  You would think most of these companies could figure that out on their own.

Great idea, but not new.

Years ago. . .the clerk or supervisor of med rec would edit the incoming dictation numbers (correct the demographics) if needed.  Anything coming to us in house, or going out to a service was correct.  Why is that not being done any more?

That is a great idea!

Great idea! now what have you got for those--sm
automated calls where no one is there when you answer?? I get those a million times a day and I want to stop them, short of getting a new number. I like the way you think, so can you help out on this one??? :^) TIA
Great idea - for those who don't think they should (sm)
have to do the crap because it takes them too long, they are not familiar with the work type or dictator, or whatever reason here is a good solution.
1. Reduce their pay by 1/2.
2. Give the other half of their pay to those of us willing to go through and do whatever work is there. We will clean it up, but instead of being penalized by doing mainly crap we will be rewarded.

Sound like a plan?
Great Idea!
That is a great idea!  I know (for a fact) that the owner of On-Point illegally solicited MTs from other companies.  She also hired interns so she wouldn't have to pay them but she still got paid for the work they did as she contracted through Focus.  She bounced checks and didn't meet payroll.  She will not return calls or emails and is spending the money she should be paying the MTs.  I feel bad for these girls that were depending on the checks to put food on the table!  After all, this is our profession and we rely on our employers to pay us.
Great idea
Anything to get them out of business.
Great idea!
That would be wonderful.  I'm starting with TT very soon myself.  There sure are a lot of us!  I think we made a wise choice.
Great idea! nm

That is a great idea...
having her copy the manager on all emails to MTs and vice versa. I hope they also record her phone calls to MTs so they can monitor how she speaks to the MTs.
Great idea
What an awesome idea. Hope we can achieve this.
Great idea!
I am going to do that! Yea outsourcing sounds appealing being cheaper for the hospital, but what happens when a patient gets a lawsuit against the hospital for incorrect documentation because the quality of the reports is awful!
Great Idea !

Write to your newspapers, call your local TV and radio stations, tell your relatives and friends.  Most people do not know that their medical records and other sensitive info is being sent to the middle east, and most are appalled when finally they are told.

Great idea!
Fortunately I have not had to deal with an issue such as this but as someone who is currently looking for another job, I think that this is an fantastic idea!

Thanks so much and good luck!
Great idea, but no go
I just googled and the nearest place I can find is about 80 miles away, which means it will take me about 3 hours travel time alone and gas, so I guess I'll scrap that. Complicating things is the fact that I live in a very very very rural area so some of the options that are available in metropolitan areas are not to be found here.

I appreciate all the helpful input I've received from all of you. It's been a long time since I've tried to live like a starving student, but I'm guessing it's like riding a bike, so I'll get by.

Thanks again!
Great idea! I, myself have ...SM

considered doing that, since I was a nursing major (years and years back, got sick last semester before graduation) but now trying to get at least my LPN license with the education I do have.  In the meantime, I was thinking strongly about doing home health or getting CNA in the interim.  I live in a large city so if there are jobs available, that shouldn't be a problem.  My aunt is almost 70 years old and came to the US several years ago, no home health experience, was hired by a smaller agency.  Even thought pay isn't that great, and she does get an occasionally difficult patient - she says most patients and her agency supes ARE nice and APRECIATIVE. I think I could manage an occasionally difficult patient far better than dealing with the home MT biz lately -- and I would do that ANY TIME rather than got to VR at half pay, which is likely in store for us all.

You're right about the appreciation part - I worked for years and years as a temp MT for hospitals via temp agencies - I got respect, appreciation, not to speak of much better compensated than by the home MTSOs, where we seem to get NONE of those.

Great idea
Direct sales might be a wonderful option. Thanks!
Great Idea!
If I weren't so technologically challenged I would do it myself. If someone is good at the Facebook thing, this would be a GREAT way to get the message out!
I think it is a great idea to prepare us for some of the truly sm
crazy people out there. The same group of MTs that seems to go from company to company and then uses the MT boards (here and others) to yell and scream. Every company should be able to give psych tests. You are dealing with medical records.
Great idea! MODERATOR, please
This is a great idea. I hope the moderator will do this.
Ex-MQ MT board is a great idea!! nm

Thanks..great idea and thank you to everyone else who gave me information.

I think it was a great idea and cudos to the adminstrator--sm
for doing this. It has actually been about two weeks now and it has been the quietest two weeks ever! I, for one, love the change! Thanks Admin!!!
Great Idea. I'd enjoy participating.
.
A great company You'll be lucky to get in though,
Work is slow right now like it always is near the holidays. They have extremely affordable benefits, and once you are established there, they seem like they are willing to work with you if you need to change your schedule.
I'll answer questions about PDA. They're great. sm
The ladies are great.  I had a really good account and I'd never leave if it weren't due to tax issues in my state that really suck.   If you're a good MT and keep the hours/lines you promise them,  you''ll be fine.
Great pay rate on a 55 ccl, great lady to work for and work is not tough. sm

It is all IC work, although you still are expected to give a schedule if you are doing stat coverage.  Only major drawback is the big wait for your first check -- almost a month from the time of your first invoice.

Good luck!

You are pathetic! I have a great life, loving family, work for a great company.
You might want to fix that.

You really don't have to shout (angry person), but yes you are wrong!!

That is my last word to you!

I will add that getting a great pay check every other Friday from Medware really puts a huge smile on my face.
YOG - Lots of work, great office staff, great money. NM
.
That idea might work for you but for me
I would have made lots less than a place would pay me on an hourly salary. After about 2 weeks on VR was back up to averaging 20 something an hour and I have not found a company/hospital or the like yet to pay MTers that an hour.
It's a great company -- lots of work and great pay. sm
Web site is www.mditrans.net.  If you need anymore info, feel free to ask.
Speaking of low work, does anyone have an idea when the new...
accounts are coming on? I am really, really trying to hold out and not get a second job.

That's going to be nuts...I do ASR work too, plus work split shifts. We'll NEED a spread shee
NT
I'll love to know who you work for. I also work every weekend with no extra pay.
It'd be nice to get paid for all the nights and weekends I work.
sad part is, those decent docs likely have no idea their work is being sent overseas. nm

Thanks for the advice. The idea of clinic work sounds good, but I do feel comfortable with acute ...
care. I have a lot of experience with operative notes, DS, consults, radiology etc.. but I am not that thrilled with ESLs. It is just harder to make money on them. I think I will look into clinic work. It was only the lack of work that was bothering me about these companies and mismanaging the accounts they did have, broken promises, and just getting the runaround.. over everything from benefits to work.
I'll never work for another co. that isn't 100% U.S.!!! NEVER! nm

Pretty soon they'll have us pay them to work
It's the same with most companies anymore. Here's how to tell a lot about the company before you aggravate yourself with training, etc.

Who has the most job offers posted? How frequently do they post them? If you see a company trying to hire all day, every day of the week they have a problem, because those they do hire do not stay.

A position that has to be posted so frequently is not a job worth having. Someone left that job for a reason, and it's probably the same reason you won't want that job either.

Tell me, does this sound like a job you would want?

IC at 6 cents a line - You have to give them a schedule when you work, and if you aren't working they call and beat you over the head?

Pretty soon, as I said, they will have us working for free, or worse we will owe them money to sit and type all day. LOL.
That's what happens with me, too; it'll work at the beginning of the day but then not.
My tech guy said he'd look into it but I'm thinking it's just a glitchy program.
I'll bet this one's a real joy to work for.....
;p
Go to work for them and you'll find out
LOLOLOLOL
If you ask for more lines, they'll work with you (NM)
:D
Believe me, you'll work weekends so don't
go bragging just yet. Chances are M-F will find you running out of work.
I'll tell you how its taking work

Say you, and others like you, come on (or remain on) at the beginning of my shift.  The work volumes drop dramatically as YOU make up your hours - TAT issues or not.  By the time you've made up your time, there's maybe an hour's worth of work left.  That runs out rapidly as my shift was already FULLY staffed, and I get stuck sitting there the whole 12 hour window - and if I'm lucky enough work will trickle in during those extra 4 hours that ALL of us scheduled to work my shift that are fighting for it can get their time in and call it a night.

Night after night I run out of work an hour or 2 before my 8 hours are in.  Sometimes I only have 20 minutes left to type - but I am forced to sit there 4 extra hours in order to get that stupid 20 minutes - knowing I'll be short EVERY night, so if I don't make my 8 tonight, the chances of me making it up another day are very slim, because everyone is flexing all over the place.  Sure it gives us perfect TAT - it also gives us 4 hours of our lives a day, wasted and unpaid!

No I do NOT want to make it up on my days off.  I am already spending 12+ hours a day chained to my workstation.  My days off are sacred for my sanity.  Maybe it doesn't bother you, but it certainly bothers me, and I quit the last job I had where flexing 24/7 was expected.

I know you need to make your hours.  We all do.  The MTs are just doing what they have to do.  The only real solution is to STOP OVERHIRING.  Otherwise flexing eventually gets forced on every employee on every shift, whether they mind it or not!

Great people to work for, but I had to leave due to lack of work. Hopefully that has changed. SM
Most of us who do not live in California had to go IC. When I was there, they did not have statutory status, although they told me they did when they hired me. Their pay for VR is VERY low, not a living wage. Many of the folks in the office are ex-YOG and great to work for/with. Good luck.
1200 lines daily is great if you have the work, personally, I never had enough work so
I left and have NEVER been sorry!
I guess you'll find out when you go to work there....sm
Just be sure to not resign from Transcend until you see if this other company is truly all they told you they would be.
Not much. They offshore, too. You'll get all the crap work.

I don't think you'll find any work here..unless you have a C-phone...
Not much work here to keep me busy or even make my line requirements.
We must work for the same place.. I'll email you (nm)
x
I'll work for them again if they get another eScription account.
The one I was on was lost. Not too heart broken as it was a pain in the butt account.
