I'd hate to work in an office with you people. Classic example of why I like ..sm

working at home by myself. Kids in school, hubby at work, and most of all no hen fights in the office. I don't peruse these boards often, but when I do it never ceases to amaze me that some have so much time on their hands to bicker here.

Thank you! I hate to see people get taken
like this with the liability issue. It is a nonissue with us.
Yeah, I would hate to see those people in a comedy club.
Some people have no sense of humor. It's alright, though, more jokes for us, ay? :)
I hate it when people tell me that working at home is a benefit (sm)
Benefits are something that the company pays for. No use as MTs. If it was a true benefit, then they should give us the money to cover the costs of what daycare would be, because if you have kids, generally they stay at home with you, right? So, they should be compensating us for daycare costs on top of what we already make. Now THAT would be a benefit!
I don't work in the office and never claimed to. I am just saying that since the new office open
October with everyone of the admin staff in one place, these problems do not occur any more.
Can't get paid in the office if you don't work in the office.
JLG has MT's working at home, not in the office, not to mention working out of state.  The mail is the only way to get paid since they have temporarily suspended direct deposit.  The only ones getting paid on time are the ones that do work in the office, like the management and people answering the phone.
they have a couple of people in the office that couldn't tell if you -
it was day or night or their hand from a foot - real idiots - yet, if you work there, they will be supervising you. Best of luck.

I find it extremely odd how people from the same office seem to have such different stories. How do
you explain that. I hear many people complaining about work at MQ and Buffalo and having many different accounts so I do think you are damage control. Sorry.
Oh, Transtech wouldn't be able to bring all those people into the office

IF they weren't paying us MT's one-half or more for doing ASR work.  It's P:USH, PUSH, PUSH to do ASR.

Why do you think they want so much ASR -- money in their pockets -- definitely not in the MT's pockets.

We had a ton of people in our office quit because of the low line count on DQS when switched from
another DOS platform to DQS. Same account, same doctors LESS lines.
My husband and his brother have a business with a small office that has 12 people in it.
I do the books for them. The electric bill is over $4000 every month. The lease is $5200. The phones are $3200. The list goes on and on with overhead, not including payroll, totally over $20,000 per month.

I respect that the company I work for has overhead and am grateful that THEY have to deal with it, not me. Otherwise, I would have started on my own.
Dont kid yourself that people dont know what is going on. Do you honestly think these office people
dont talk. Maybe you should make sure you know what you are talking about before you open your mouth.
To the OP, this is just a classic example of KS PR control

My facts cannot be wrong, as this is what happened specifically to me. I do not have to stretch the truth whatsoever.  The true version is colorful enough.  Imagine being hired and thinking you are going to have an unlimited amount of work, quitting your old job, only to find out a week later that not only you, but the other girls on the same account no longer have any work.  Sorry, the deal fell through.  Certainly not MY fault, but KS's.  The thing turned out to be that the account was just an overflow account.  Go figure.

As far as the bounced check goes, I don't know what "one of the 8 means", but my checked bounced and I received NO letter from KS's bank.  As a matter of fact, I had to email again and again and, yes, again the office to get my money and fees paid.  It took quite a while.  I have the paperwork right here in my desk.  I have proof.

To the KS MT who says I need to get my facts straight, I believe this is once again Lee pretending to be an MT or one of her management team trying to deflect the truth.  It is the usual way of KS.

If you do take a job with them, I wish you good luck and I sincerely hope that you do not have the same problems as many of us have had.

Here you have classic IC loophole

This is exactly why MTSOs as well as MTs alike should understand the meaning of an IC.  Nevermind the set schedule part for a minute.

An MTSO doesn't by law have to supply any work.  Did they tell you in a contract they would?  They can get around it because you are classified as an IC - they need not provide work, overtime, a steady income, any of that.

As an IC MT we have no rights to say to an MTSO you must provide me work.

Now, all the other MTs here who just love their situation of IC MT set schedules needs to read these posts especially the original post because this is exactly what happens in these situations.

No, you don't sit and wait.  As an IC you find something else and tell that MTSO to stick their set schedule where the sun don't shine and that you are an IC and you need to work and that means contracting for other companies which is in essence what an IC really does.

The painter moves on to the next paying customer as does the MT.  Also, I wouldn't worry about whose work you're taking.  Take the darned work and transcribe it until you can find something else that's truly IC.  You can't worry about their contractors; they are not your problem.  Sorry, but that's the way it goes.  Sounds harsh, but hey, they set us up this way; so it's dog eat dog now.

LOL! That is classic..... I can tell you here at Spheris....
it is no longer a follow the sun approach. India MTs have entire accounts and work the same hours we do. India MTs are not necessary to see that accounts have 24-hour coverage, that attempt at justifying taking our work away is total BS no matter what company you work for. I know at least one account (and I'm sure there are plenty more) that India has that sends no work during the night, and yet they now have the account and they work throughout their night to cover it. Now, if that isn't insane, I don't know what is.
This is classic, but I can usually get them to go away pretty quickly!
No matter what they say I respond No speak English. One lady even tried speaking in Spanish, but I just kept saying the same thing. LOL! Yes, caller ID helps enormously too! I do not answer unknown name calls who do not display their number or anything that seems fishy.
Anyone use Cerner Classic and how does it compare
to Meditech Magic? Better, worse or about the same?
IT will work, though I haven't used it. I HATE

SH with a passion.  I used PRD previously and it was so much better.   Enterprise needs work.  They are frequently updating it so it is getting better, though still have miles to go.

There was a lag in work about a month ago, but now it seems that half the accounts are on OT on a regular basis.

I hate Mondays, always out of work nm

I hate my company. Yes, I have work, I just
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Who said people who work for KS aren't happy for people who work for (sm)
other companies?  I'm happy for people who are happy with their jobs, no matter what company they work for.
I just spent about the last 5 years doing work I hate because the money -sm
was so good. Which is more important to you? Sounds to me like you'd rather take the one with the type of work you enjoy more. It didn't hurt me to do that work all that time. The money was so good, it made it seem more enjoyable. Isn't it so nice though that you have a choice!
I would hate to have to try and balance out # of MTs versus amount of work. (sm)
They can hire for a new account on projected number of lines and projected amount of lines each MT does, but so many variables are involved. That is exactly why I just do MT and let the MTSO and staff handle those issues. Too much for my little brain.

They are a great company and truly try their best. Give them a call. Can't hurt to try.
don't go to work for TTS (Transcription, Technology, and Support). You will hate it.

Hate the day after a holiday for work -- seems like it takes forever to get my account back up to
speed and getting work available.  Oh, well, I'm just venting this morning because I don't have any work and guess I should be cleaning house instead of sitting on here being frustrated about it.  Have a good one!
Which office do you work out of.
:
not better if you work in the office. everyone is
related to everyone else and tension so bad you can cut it with a knife. Too much favoritism.
YOU DON'T WORK IN THE OFFICE???
HOW in the world do you know what happens and what does not happen? I cannot believe this. If I were administration at KS, I would fire your patuty ASAP.

I hope you know that you are making this company look really, really bad. They don't need any help with this, trust me.
But would you want to work in an office again?? sm
Not me! While I agree that I'd rather have my records done in the US, I resent the implication that US-based MTs are unprofessional just because we work from home. It's as much of a REAL job for me working from home, as it was when I worked in an office setting (shudder)!
I work for the Chicago office

I have worked  part time as an SE for about 2 years or so out of the Chicago office.  Overall, I would recommend them.  Everyone in the office that I have dealt with is very nice.  They pretty much leave you alone to do your work, although do require you to submit a schedule.   Lately, we have had lots of work, even with a couple of bonuses offered lately, although sometimes in the mornings work will be scarce.  For about the first year I was there, running out of work was a daily occurrence and the only way to get any lines was to work at night and work multiple accounts.

The only concern I would express is that there is a history of overstaffing of the accounts, and if you are counting on them for your only income, you might think about keeping a  backup job.  (I have another full time job, so MQ is just extra $ for me).

Good Luck

How is the MQ St. Louis office to work for?
nm
I think its the "Dallas" office but my work
is out of Mississippi.

I have NO idea if this is a new pay plan or not.

I do know that because I signed on as an SE, I don't have any benefits. Just pay.

Actually I work in an office and have for the last 20 years.

I work at home for six months and then go into the office for the other six months out of a year.  My point was that you are are judging everyone for saying negative things about different companies.  We express our opinions about different companies and try to help others out before they accept employment with them, or dish out a bunch of money for schooling.

If you want positive things about companies, why wasn't your question "what is the best company you have every worked for" and "which school is the best to go to for medical transcription"?

I happen to like my job, enjoy the people that I report to, and wouldn't change it for anything.

I work for that office, they are nice. nm

I work for the Nashville office...
I do acute care work. I had less than two years' experience when I was hired. I tested for clinic work but they asked me if I'd be willing to do acute care even though I had no experience with it. I have no idea if 0.825 cpl is a good hiring rate. I was coming from a company that only paid 0.065 cpl so it was better than what I was making.

I live in KY but work for a PA office
and haven't received it either.
I work in a doctor's office. SM
I got a $600.00 bonus.
You can work in the office or at home....
if you dislike the office, or find it tense, you should ask to work from home. There are only about 15 people that work in the office, most are not transcriptionists, and my experience is that they would rather transcriptionists work from home.

Life's too short, go ahead and make arrangements to work from home. Why would you want to work in the office, especially if you dislike it so much?

I don't work in a transcription office but I
certainly don't work in my living room or bedroom. I have a dedictated office in my home. You insult all home workes with such broad statements.
I do not work in the office but I love my job. I have never sm
had broken promises, have a lot of work (1500+ lines every day), get paid on time AND I have spoken to the owner, who has always been very nice to me. I do not talk to her often, only if she happens to answer the phone when I call, and I have never talked to her about an account. I would go through HR or my lead if I were to need more work, which is what you are supposed to do.

I have a friend who also worked at Keystrokes but it did not work out for her ONLY because she thought she was special, tried 4 or 5 different accounts, refused to deal with anyone except the owner who repeatedly told her to talk to HR, complained about everything. She finally went to another company when her lead expressed concern about her quality.

Guess what? You might not be surprised that she has been to 4 other companies since that happened a year ago and has the same supposed complaints about every company out there.

Maybe you thought you were special and went over everyone's heads. Why would you bother the owner of a company? It sounds like you were offered many accounts but didn't like any of them from your post. Perhaps the problem is with YOU. But of course not.
I work IN an office for a Dr. who refuses to use VR
nm
Yes I work at TT, Wal-Mart & a vet's office
Three jobs. Wasn't too hard to get. I like TT and hope that work will pick up with the new accounts but in the meantime yes I have to feed my kids and me.
Me too. I work in a Drs office, they are switching to
nm
As a whole.. nice people to work for, decent benefits but the get off/on the system, work/no work,
is maddening. I couldnt pay my bills or even work the schedule I was assigned. They would ask us not to work until work built up in the evenings and I specifically wanted to work days as I have kids etc. It just didnt work out for me but to each his own. It just seems there has to be a better balance in this business that what is happening.
For people at MDI-MD that say they are out of work, I see they are hiring now. Are people still
running out of work or did they get more accounts.  I am interested in this company.
Does anyone work for the Buffalo office of MQ and how do you like it. Do you get one main to mostly
work on or how are things managed there.
Anyone work for the Medquist Illinois office?
Just wondering how they are.
Which office are you in. I am in Amherst and always out of work along with everyone else. What good
do the incentive plans they bring out do if we have not work. Isnt that crazy. You get x amount of money for x amount of lines but no work and now they will give employees more leeway to get their lines in so we will all be fighting for lines at all hours.
Call the office and hopefully they will follow up with more work. nm

Do you have to be local to their office in order to work for them? nm
