I'm generally happy with my company. SM

Posted By: me on 2008-05-25
In Reply to: There are many here (sm) - MT

I have great supervisor, lots of PTO, helpful coworkers. I have all the work I can do on a consistent basis and no one bothers me.

One problem: OUR PAY KEEPS GOING DOWN.

Thanks for listening.

very happy with my new company so far
Well, I've only been there a week but I love my new company so far.. so much more than the one I just left..what a nightmare..but I just started with a new company..and yes, they're hiring..and they have both escription and regular transcription accounts, hospital or clinic, PLENTY of work, they pay insurance, PTO, holidays..they're flexible with schedules, very helpful and friendly..and they have direct deposit and pay weekly not biweekly. :O))
Happy with my IC company!!!

Hello, I am an IC MT that is very happy with the company i am contracted with. This post is to serve 3 purposes. 1) to try to help out a few good MTs looking for a good company, and 2) to help out the company as it is need of some good, qualified and dedicated MTs, and 3) (in all honestly) to make a little referral $$$!

Their clientelle and workload is increasing and finding good MTs is a hard process. They are not an IC that offers 6 cents and wants perfect MTs...They pay decent, given the trend of this industy... typically 7-9 cents, i believe. They really take care of their good MTs by verbal praise and $$$$.

I am on an all ortho account that could really use a few good ortho MTs that know their terminology and focus on quality. About 80% of the dictators are great, the 20% are not terrible  --there are many other accounts available besides ortho as well.. but it will take applying and talking with the recruiter to find out what is all available at the time because positions fill up fast and new positions become available at times.

Their platform is pretty simple while allowing some great features. You type in Microsoft Word 2003 or higher. Use Expresscribe (which is free) for audio. Need BOS 3rd edition and probably a good spellchecker.  Need your own computer and software. Pay is always on time and accurate. Incentive after 1000 lines a day. Holiday pay. Strictly IC status as of now.

This is mainly clinic work. full time requires 1000 lines per day, Monday-Friday. Some part-time 500 lines per day positions are available. With most accounts, Friday's work is due on Monday. 20 hour TAT. Flexibility on a day-to-day basis. You get assigned providers, or a smaller assigned pool.

Training is fairly quick, and depending on your learning abilities, the process of learning the templates and creating your own shortcuts can make you productive fairly quickly.

Well, I answered most of the questions... however, if you have more (of course which company is it?), please email me and I will give you the link to the company if you provide me your name for a referral.

I am not a recruiter, just a happy MT looking to help out some fellow MTs, help out the company I am loyal to, and make a little referral $.

Generally, no...
Acute care is considered H&Ps, operative reports, discharge summaries, and consultations, although some companies might include ER as acute care.  I think it really depends on what you were told when you were hired.
She has EVERY RIGHT to post that she is happy with her company!!
You think you and the rest of the people who are all about negative negative negative are the only ones allowed to post...you aren't too sharp are ya?
No company is the perfect fit for everyone, but I am happy. sm

I started in October 2006, and after 30+ years as an MT, I hope I have found my home.  The work seems plentiful (I have only had to go to my secondary account a few times) and the people in management seem to genuinely care about you and want to help.  The incentive tier is easy to achieve, and the benefits are pretty good, I think.

Regardless of what you choose, good luck!

An account/company you are happy with, and the $$
I also live in a remote area.  Can't make as much or have the flexibility elsewhere.
Benefits generally add 40% to cpl and TH has

I was just being generally silly - but not
sure who my cohorts are! I assure you, I'm a lone jokester.
How long does it generally take...sm
Focus Infomatics to let you know whether you passed or failed the testing for employment?
I guess you must be happy there since you say it is a great company...
I just had an offer and am thinking of jumping. I work for Q now....any advice?
They are a very good company. I went back and am happy I did.
Not cheerleading just being honest.  They have always treated me extremely well.
Outstanding company. NEVER been so happy! no pay issues EVER. nm

Happy Camper, which company did you receive it from?
Anxiously awaiting gift from TT; hope it is their usual in a larger amount.  Don't need cookies, what-nots, etc. as some companies send to their MT's.  Love that monetary stuff!
Generally 3-4.5 cpl. Much lower than transcribing.

I actually meant this generally, I do not think it's all that different in other states....
from what I've been reading and hearing from others. My husband and I have separate insurance each with our own employer and pay a fair rate of 100 a month or so and they are very good plans and not that HMO garbage. BUT we don't have kids. We have an excellent income and live on the east coast too but that would not make it *okay* for me if we had to pay those rates. So, right now I'm thinking of definitely nixing that whole having a family idea we've been discussing. I was hesitant anyway because I feel this world is just not a nice safe place anymore. So this may just seal the deal for me. What a country, huh? : (
Birdie, where, generally, do you live?

A big MTSO generally doesn't lay off.
They'll come up with every excuse in the book not to authorize unemployment.  Are you working now or have you been out of work since you contacted your supervisor?  I would say contact your supervisor again and tell her that if you don't hear from her by (fill in your date), then you will be forced to apply for unemployment since there is no work and you haven't been offered a secondary account.  Since you say that the other accounts are all sufficiently staffed, I don't know if this would do much good anyway because then they'll give you a secondary, but you still won't have work.  Maybe it's time to start looking at other companies that are hiring.
Generally, will companies allow you that "learning curve"?
Most of the jobs advertised say Must have X years of acute or hospital experience . . .  When I see that, I just move on.  After so much time, don't they require that you do a certain # of lines?  Were you able to reach that # and still feel like with all the time you spent researching, you still had a little bit of a life besides work?   I'll try to test for any company that will let me test for acute care just to see how I do.  Thanks for sharing your experience.  It gives me hope.
Conference dictations are generally extremely sm
tedious as the voice quality is awful. Consider that when I was in college back in 1970 I made $1.50 a page straight typing from text. You'll be transcribing, not straight typing, a conference or interview.
Work is generally slow all around. Easter
is early, plus spring break in lots of places.   I've been on OT for the last 2-3 weeks and ran out of work yesterday and probably will today too.  Enjoy it while you can.
I am just generally a worry wart but I am trying to work on it.
I guess that is why the e mails get to me. My job is really important to me, and I take pride in it, I always have. So, maybe I need to lighten up. I understand what the OP said, but I guess we have to make choices in life. The boss has a family, they understand we need lives. Guess do more than expected of us, and using the delete key is a good approach. Just need to quit the worrying habit!
Generally the length of time you are required to keep sm
records on file for a former client is codified in your contract with them.
I don't generally label cheerleaders as Management, but that has to be one. NM

I am not her spokesperson just happy with the company I work for and upset that people can be so sm

misleading because the fit was not good for them.

If you have been on these boards a while, you would know that she always posts her name.  I emailed her today to tell her what was happening on here, and the response I got back was she does not even look on here as it is too upsetting and has promised herself not to come and look.  She has too much else to do with her time and defending herself and her company is always misinterpreted.  She basically told me I should spend more time working or with my family than spending time on this soap opera.

It is better to not care and let people form their own opinions.  Everyone takes the postings with a grain of salt anyway.  I think it is sad that she has to be so tough-skinned.
Most generally lots of people on here to start trouble????

Bringing this back up from below posted by Babe  People come here to get advice, and seeking opinions on companies good or bad.  Sure, there are a few bad apples that will not be happy anywhere they go but I think most of us all want the same thing, an honest and good company to work for.  To post only the positive would be great, but then as we all know, there are companies that do their advertising right here posing as MTs, only to find out later when we get burned and have to start the entire process of testing and bouncing yet to another job.  You are either very naive about the MT world we live in today, or more likely you are a company official that doesn't like anything negative posted about your company, specially when its lots of it.  I don't think anyone is stupid enough to believe everything they see here, but if you see a  lot of  specifics about a particular company and you experienced it yourself, then you have to give that some credibility and back that person up - this could be good information or bad information.  My assessment of KS personally is that I have not seen anything that would sway me in any way.  Any information I have seen here leaves me as feeling neutral.I think people just want an honest opinion, thats all.  I guess you perceive a negative post warning about another company's ripoff techniques starting trouble  Hmmm.. makes me wonder what chair you're sitting in, sure don't sound like an MT.

Generally, benefits cost the employer $3/hour, so that's sm
probably how yours would figure out, too. 9/cpl/65 is a respectable rate for benefits. Like the other poster said, it depends on what you need and what your scheduling preferences are.

It's every two weeks on Monday, but with direct deposit you generally get it
on Saturday and I even know a couple of MTs who get it on Friday.
Generally, with holidays, patients put off elective procedures, sm

more doctors take off, and generally you can count on a lighter workload, especially with Christmas and Thanksgiving.   I tell myself I will save up and prepare for it, but usually I end up scrounging frantically for work, so do not feel alone.

Oh, and pay no attention to the whining comments.  Most of us have compassion and understand the panic that cam come along when you realize you have run out of work for the day or whatever.

Hang in there ... it will get better.

Whatever it is, I've learned that it'll generally keep until morning.
Plus if I've been jangled awake in the night by the phone, and am only half-conscious (and wholly p****d off), I'm not going to be of much use, anyway.

If it's bad news, I'd rather read it as an email while I'm having my coffee in the morning.
Sorry to say, this is generally not a good place for support or info. sm
In fact, it's pretty much a cesspool (no offense to true cesspools worldwide) filled with just enough folks who get their jollies being contrary, rude, deceptive, nasty ... you name it.

There are other boards that require logins and therefore there's less of the anonymous sniping that is seen here.

And, of course, this post will be deleted, while the nasty ones remain.

Very sad.
Because in a production environment, the MT will generally produce a significantly higher number of
lines per day.

MDI Maryland HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY
THIS IS NOT MDI IN NY OR FL!!

www.mditrans.com.

I can't say enough nice things about this company; very flexible, you area a statutory employee. That means that they pay the employer portion of your SS. Great on time pay, tons of work. Do your lines and you are left alone! Expect to be responsible though. Pay for your phone; rent a Lanier or a C-phone if you don't have one; BayScribe platform. Anything that is a bit of an inconvenience is more than made up for. You will know to the minute how much you will make and how many lines you have typed. Check it out!

happy here
Positive experience for me. Two years later, still happy, still busy, still meeting 300+ lines an hour. To each his own... guess it's jump on Diskriter is crap band wagon again day. On any given day, one company or another is being ripped a new one on these sites.
Probably one of the best. I'm happy there.

Happy with QT and FCM!!! nm

Happy there......
I am very, very happy at OSi. I left a company where I had been a IC for over 8 years and went with OSi as an employee. I have had no regrets. I think some people say QA is snooty because they expect a job to be done right and often times it isn't. We have access to all reports typed on our accounts and to tell you the truth, it's amazing how some of these MTs got hired.

I love the platform, pay is always on time and often incentives create huge paychecks. They are very professional and very flexible. No cons as far as I can see.
That's cause we are happy!!
Why do you want to bash anyway, let's talk about good things
I am happy too
There are some that still like Transcend.  i understand that others have valid complaints, but not everyone there experiences the same issues.  Some of us are really telling the truth when they say they are happy.
Happy for you.
I hope you like your new job. I have been contemplating applying with them myself but worried about their flexibility.
YAY!!! I am so happy for you. Out of (sm)
all the places I have worked, they really are the best!! For many, many reasons!!
Yep and happy about it!
Yes I make 1 cent less than what FOCUS would hire me on for at their top pay. In exchange I get to work with an amazing company who treats me with respect, knows who i am, who my children are, listens to what i have to say and so much more. It is worth the cent to work for a great company.
Happy to Mad?
so have you changed your attitude about MQ? this is exactly what MQ doesn't want to happen -- MTs being able to find out what is going on in different offices, wage-wise and otherwise.
ARE YOU HAPPY THERE?
Can you be hired on as SE?
Happy.....
Sweetheart, you have no business releasing your venom on me. You are one with the mental health issue. If you were indeed a "Happy OSI'er," you would not care what anyone else thinks or says about that company.

The fact that you can get enraged so easily when other people express opinions contrary to your own tells me that you are indeed in need of a little Zoloft, Xanax, or maybe just a good dose of reality. The rest of the world doesn't have to agree with you about anything. It does not make us dysfunctional, depressed, unhappy, or stupid. It just means we see things differently.

You're in for a rough ride in life if you are get so upset about others' opinions.

very happy
Yes Cbay is still around and going strong, more work than I can handle lately. They do hire US MTs. Everyone knocks them for sending work overseas but what company doesn't these days? I am very happy with them and pay is on time every 2 weeks! They pay my bills so I really wouldn't care if they sent the work to the moon!
Is anyone happy...
Please leave some info on this board if you are happy working for OSI.  There is a lot of negative, but it may be some sour grapes too.  I would like to hear some good input about the company.  Thanks.
With OSi for about 3 yrs. Very happy now with
It is great working with true medical transcription professionals.

OSi is good for a laugh, though!
