99% of the equipment that you're using in your home-based transcription company was made in China. I hope that before you accept any job, you apprise your prospective client/employer that you are a Chinese company.
Oh, and my son was born in Germany. He is a U.S. citizen now, but I guess in your book he's still German. Does that mean when he grows up and owns his own company, he'll be faulted by narrow-minded people like you who apparently expect to be fully notified about someone's birthplace before you deal with them in a professional setting? I can already hear it: I don't mind Germans, but...
And when you sit down down to work in your pajamas, I bet you don't give full disclosure to the entire globe about the state of your dress. Does it really matter how you look? Of course not. What matters is that you are getting the job done, right?
Mediscribes/Cardioscribes is a U.S.-owned company. The owners are U.S. Citizens. Are they to be faulted for having ties to India and taking advantage of a premium group of people running the technical side of the operation? That doesn't make them dishonest. That makes them open-minded, resourceful and business savvy. In my book, open-mindedness beats narrow-mindedness every time. I'll take the former, and you can stick with the latter. And in this day and age, I'm afraid you will get left behind with your archaic attitude.

I wish I were making a little more per line, but I get great line counts, never run out of work and have had the same primary account since February. QA is helpful, IC flexibility is great.

for the few that post on here that they are very happy and make great money, but don't tell anyone where to go to make that kind of money. I think it is a big trade secret. All I know is, I can't find it anymore and pay only continues a downward trend. Btw, what is a medical abstractor??

Very satisfied with Medware.
They have been very open and upfront and totally honest, which was a real switch for me. (was working for a very dishonest company)
My supervisor is way cool and he is very appreciative with tons of personality. I have never had a problem with getting time off, he is easy to get along with and flexible.
My experience is that if the system is down for longer than 1 hour you will be paid down time. I have only experienced one down time and that was last week for only 45 minutes.
I have many years of experience and am very happy with the money I am making with Medware, and never have to worry about not receiving my check every other Friday.
Medware is very big on quality and that was the determining factor for me going with them.
The system is easy and I love my account....lots of op notes.

I don't want to be a job hopper, but what is up with these companies???
They offer one thing and then completely turn around and do another (only after being employed for a month or so)----
You will be completely satisfied and productive on one account and completely out of nowhere they switch on you, throw you on a new account (when they said they wouldn't because they like to see their MTs productive).
I get my Expanders and macros set up ...and BOOM... new account.
Then there you are learning new account specifics with a bunch of crappy dictators---It feels as if you are starting all over again with a new company.
Can you ever be really happy? I am not asking for specific company names here. I am just wondering since changing jobs 3 times since leaving MQ THIS YEAR if all of the companies are like this. Maybe I just jinx myself by getting happy and excited and telling people how great this new company is. lol.
It is not just the switching of the accounts.. it is the IC companies that start out to be 24 hour TAT and then ask you for a schedule after working for a couple of weeks (even when you are getting your required lines in). Or the companies that even though they are IC and you did give them a schedule expect you to log on any time of the day to work. AGGGHHHH.
I get that this is the business..and I don't want days filled with glorious dictators and simple work (I know that is not possible). I would just like to be left in ONE PLACE for once with a primary account that doesn't get switched for no reason and get my work back as agreed upon! Hey throw all of the horrid ESLs you want at me on the account... just leave me be! lol. Seriously.

I cannot complain at all about my IC position. I cannot say that I run out of work either, QA is great and the flexibility is better than I had ever imagined. :)

I left another company as an IC for an employee status position and was hired by Deventure. No complaints at all. After not having any response to emails, rude responses when I did hear from someone, constantly running out of work and working holidays and weekends with no pay previously, this company is like a breath of fresh air. Everyone is very helpful, friendly and courteous and lots of work. Direct deposit hits the bank every week - even a day early usually. Was only there 1 month and got a small Christmas bonus check.

Would you please be so generous as to send your company gift to me since you are perfectly satisfied
with our job paying us for NO holidays, use PTO earned for sick, holiday pay, and everything else that may come at us in life! You better believe those inhouse clerks, etc./sups, leads, execs and on and on get their GIFT and a hefty one at that. Why are we at-home supposed to be satisfied with nothing, but a low-paying job, low work most of the time, requests from company to flex and flex for THEM, but no flexing when the MT needs off.
Yes, I am thankful for a job, and that is exactly what it is . . . . a job (almost). That is if you consider NO paid HOLIDAYS like all other types of companies give. Yes, these are hard times, but these hard times are hitting the MT harder and harder each and every year! It does not affect the office support staff, etc., etc., etc. They are paid for holidays and whether there is work for the MT or not. We are piecemeal workers only (similar to sweat shop workers). Yes, I am thankful that I have a paycheck coming home, BUT I have to WORK VERY HARD for every penny that comes home to me in the form of a paycheck -- without any paid breaks or holidays. The office staff are the lucky ones -- everything paid for them!

I can't say enough nice things about this company; very flexible, you area a statutory employee. That means that they pay the employer portion of your SS. Great on time pay, tons of work. Do your lines and you are left alone! Expect to be responsible though. Pay for your phone; rent a Lanier or a C-phone if you don't have one; BayScribe platform. Anything that is a bit of an inconvenience is more than made up for. You will know to the minute how much you will make and how many lines you have typed. Check it out!

Positive experience for me. Two years later, still happy, still busy, still meeting 300+ lines an hour. To each his own... guess it's jump on Diskriter is crap band wagon again day. On any given day, one company or another is being ripped a new one on these sites.
Probably one of the best. I'm happy there.

I am very, very happy at OSi. I left a company where I had been a IC for over 8 years and went with OSi as an employee. I have had no regrets. I think some people say QA is snooty because they expect a job to be done right and often times it isn't. We have access to all reports typed on our accounts and to tell you the truth, it's amazing how some of these MTs got hired.
I love the platform, pay is always on time and often incentives create huge paychecks. They are very professional and very flexible. No cons as far as I can see.

There are some that still like Transcend. i understand that others have valid complaints, but not everyone there experiences the same issues. Some of us are really telling the truth when they say they are happy.

Yes I make 1 cent less than what FOCUS would hire me on for at their top pay. In exchange I get to work with an amazing company who treats me with respect, knows who i am, who my children are, listens to what i have to say and so much more. It is worth the cent to work for a great company.

Yes Cbay is still around and going strong, more work than I can handle lately. They do hire US MTs. Everyone knocks them for sending work overseas but what company doesn't these days? I am very happy with them and pay is on time every 2 weeks! They pay my bills so I really wouldn't care if they sent the work to the moon!

I have 2 good accounts with steady work, love BayScribe, like my team leader, and good pay that is always on time. I do agree with the above poster who says she feels they may be overhiring on some accounts to keep them in TAT. However, I haven't seen overstaffing on my accounts (yet)!

Don't work on MANTIS but this company is really, really growing by leaps and bounds - even made the Fortune 500 top growing companies in the US. Great people (really nice) and a refreshing change from the Big Guys. Pay is generally $1.10 regular and $2.25 special - really nice accounts too. Check 'em out!

I'm FT and don't utiize the benefits, but I'm very happy at Spheris. My platform is easy to use, my supervisor is awesome, and the other girls are great. I don't have a hard time getting time off, and they pretty much leave me alone to do my work, but if I need help, they have terrific people at the help desk. Most Spheris employees are very happy here, but we just don't spend a lot of time of message boards.

Wake up MTs. Change is good. Why is everyone so afraid to go somewhere else? If you are not happy, you can only make yourself happy. LEAVE. Do not wait for these nationals or other MT companies to make you happy. They won't. You must do it yourself. I'm happy after the change I made. You can be too. Just go for it. What do you have to lose?

I go an 11 cent per 65-character line with spaces included job from them. Very flexible. The hiring process was a lot easier than going it on your own. I was VERY happy with my experience there...this was 2-1/2 years ago. Maybe things have changed. They get a one-time fee, not a portion of your line rate.
There are more than two happy at MDI but
Just because two of you have work does not discount that the rest of us do not. I struggled to get 1000 lines yesterday, had to keep dialing back in scrounging for work. And as others have said here, we have talked to Dorothy and MDI is aware that there is not enough work to go around. Maybe you two have an account that they did not put too many MTs on. Apparently on mine they did. I have been on this account for many years and I have always had work until the last several months.

Can't compare it to other companies as it is my first MT job, but I have been there almost a year and am quite happy. No desire to move anywhere else. Good training, and they attempt to communicate with their employees. Steady workload, benefits and pay reasonable.
