I also would like to say I did not take that

$2/hr cut in pay offered to me by the employer. I quit on the spot as I had no intention of going backwards. I was earning $17 an hour and there was mentoring QA involved. The company still ought to be ashamed of themselves for doing that and have heard they have since done it not only to their QA but to their MTs.

This profession is going downhill, but there is still good money to be made if you know how to do it. I do believe it will continue to go lower before it gets higher, which might not ever happen. I also recruit and have seen the rates go lower and I simply will not recruit for ridiculous rates. If the pay is not right, I will not offer it. With recruiting, you have to have your own set of ethics, not just the ethics of your company. If a recruiter does not stand out as having ethics and caring toward the payscale of the staff he/she hires, then that recruiter has never been an MT or QA. If you have one who has been an MT or QA and offers cents per line for QA or less than a certain amount per hour for QA, then that recruiter only has her own purse in mind. I get the most out of what I do when I know I have done something worthwhile...and that's make the MT/QA happy as well as the employer. I guess that is why I am not recruiting currently, but I do plan on recruiting again in the future.
