QA pay/MT pay, etc

Back in the day, which would be 18 years ago for me, there was no such thing as QA. If you were an MT, you were expected to know your job and do it well; there was no one going behind you to clean it up. Part of the problem with low MT pay are those who put half effort into their job necessitating QA, which then lowers the pay for the MT, and leaves little for the Editor either. I know there are plenty of MTs who require little in the way of editing of their work, and they should be paid a higher rate than those whose work needs continuous review, but, as we all know, we are generally all paid pretty much the same across the board and it is only going down. Several years ago, I made $18/hr doing QA and now make only $14, but feel fortunate to even make that given how many companies now want to pay 3-4 cpl for the expertise it takes to edit. (if anyone knows where I can make more per hour, please, please let me know!!)

As far as feedback, just think about how you would like to be treated by someone teaching you and be respectful and tactful. I've run into very few who weren't grateful for the opportunity to learn from mistakes.
