I once saw an Indian error where he/she changed the name of a famous street

which was mentioned in a report, just because he/she didn't realize it was a street name. The Indian MT changed it to say something real romantic and inaccurate, like The patient was on the street where the lovely sun sets. It took me just a moment to realize from the context that the dictator just mentioned the street name, Sunset Blvd. No way an American would change that!

Ya, but it's not a spelling error, it's a grammar error!
Get it?
MDI is famous for this!
They promised me my own account because the person on there wasn't "getting it done" and they were going to "fire" her. However they never have followed through so now I sit here and fight for work all day.
The owners haven't changed, MT supe hasn't changed
I've been in their office. I know the people. It is a sweat shop and you will never be paid a decent amount or get respect. You won't know which is a good or a bad day for the person you report to until you literally get yelled at.

They have to offer bonuses because their reputation is that bad and nothing has changed. You may get work that has been recorded 3 times from some of the worst accounts you could ever imagine. They take accounts no one else will touch. That hasn't changed.
Famous Last Words
The world will never give up the horse for that metal death trap!

Mr. Bell, I heard you from the next room, but this can't possibly work from across the street.

What is this aeroplane of which you speak? Why, it is preposterous to think that something heavier than air can fly.

Live images? In this box?

I think you get the idea.

I thought the famous co on this board had that

Company is famous for pay being late-
Highlights of TTS: You can not trust anyone!!. God forbid you are 10 minutes late, or on the toilet too long as you will get a phone call asking why are you in a job for so long, or you are on the schedule -blah, blah blah.. This is for IC's and employees.

Next: Paydays - always late. She has the nerve to say in replies to emails sent to her - I am not answering anymore emails and I am turning off my IM.

Next: Final paycheck - lets try 6 to 8 weeks, and that is if you are lucky. This is even after you have returned equipment.

Next: She offers no benefits for employees. Yeah, insurance is available, but at your full cost. As an IC she pays a certain amount, but if you are an employee, it is much less as she is not paying anything out of her pocket for anyone.

Finally - There is nothing to say good about this company. Her and her manager talk a good game, but once you are in, forget it, the evil comes out.
What? You become a famous movie star?
a
They changed buildings so maybe the phone number also changed...
They are still going strong...
You know, you could take somebody off the street
and that person would be doing the best they could possibly do. They wouldn't need QA? So someone who has been around for 30 years, and has been QA'd by the supreme QA, and now is doing the best they can possibly do...so what? They still make mistakes.  That's what QA is for.  Maybe the best they can possibly do just isn't good enough.  Maybe they haven't instituted the changes that have come along.  Maybe they are slipping.  I would assume that for the most part we all do the best we can possibly do, but from newbie to old-timer, doing the best we can do doesn't excuse us from having our work checked out from time to time.
7% a 2-way street
What is the percentage of reports that are exceptionally difficult, dictated by ESL, fast-talking dictators.  Less than 7%??   Otherwise, if they want you to keep your QA submissions to below 7%, then they are giving you permission to guess, which is dangerous.  It doesn't make any sense.
Brings to mind famous saying by Liberace
People made fun of him for his costumes, etc. and he coined the phrase laughing all the way to the bank. That be me now. Laugh on.
I think that it's a two way street, after all see message
when you are dealing with employers in this field you know relatively little about them.  You don't even know what wages you will be earning when you accept work from them.  There are so many factors, such as how they count lines and the quality of the work you will be getting.  I know relatively little about this company and they wish to know everything about me it seems--my work history, my abilities transcribing abilities (which I had taken two tests) and now they want to get inside my mind.  I'm sorry but that's just too rude.  I have received form letters from them that are just probably a standard they send to everyone.  They have never called me, just sent me generic letters to take their tests.  I called and spoke to a person for a few minutes and that was it.
It's a two-way street, in my opinion
When I need to flex, my employer cheerfully accomodates my every request.

In reciprocation, I cheerfully accommodate my employer on the few occasions I'm asked to do so.

As in all things in life, we get as good as we give, IMO.
They count people in the street
Nothing is going to change until Americans put down the remote and put on their walking shoes.

It's the only thing that really gets their attention: Peaceful people in the street.
But she had time to email pics of deer she saw on her street nm

Wall Street Journal article, October 2004
A friend sent this to me. UCSF heard from an overseas MT who had not been paid that if she did not receive the $$ owed her she would publish the reports on the internet. There was a lot of followup to this which I will not go into here, but why wouldn't this sort of thing still be possible.

Later that year there was a report of a group of MTs in Bangladesh who tried to force a change in their local management by threatening to make transcribed documents public.

After that California was supposedly looking at a bill to disallow sending confidential medical reports overseas as they are not bound by HIPPA. Never heard what came of that.

I still tell these stories to anyone considering sending work abroad. I just wish some of them overseas would be stupid enough to actually pull a few stunts like that and then see how much work we lose.
Sage Street Staffing - South Florida transcriptionists

I have been trying to respond to people from south Florida who applied with Sage Street Staffing for traveling transcription.

The emails are kicking back as undeliverable.  I have tried from multiple email addresses, and they are all kicking back as undeliverable.

If you sent a resume from the email address *********** please send an alternate email address so that I may respond.

thank you

Focus is Indian run and you'll be editing Indian
work, so seriously doubt you'll make a bunch of $$ on editing.  99% of the MTs love KS.  If you'll just scroll down the page you'll see dozens of posts about them.
Probably not - I believe they are Indian run or Indian based company. nm

ERROR....
I posted the above asking for information about Transform, Inc. and said they were located in Wisconsin.   I made a mistake they are located in Missouri.  Thanks.
error sm
supposed to be hire not high resistance....darn expander!
Not a lot of room for error

If you know the BOS 2.  Then apply.  If you don't.  Do not apply.  A very strict MTSO to work for.

Then what you said in your first post was in error. sm
You specifically said, and I quote *The American Medical Association allows foreign nationals who practice in this country to join their association and nobody thinks a thing of it.*  That was an error then, right?  Because they are certifying and allow members from other countries, who have driven the working wage down and taken our jobs.  That is the reality.  Did you see where union workers are very angry about the illegal aliens. Why do you think that is?  Do you know that it is projected if the illegal aliens continue to flood this country, the minimum wage will never be raised.  Illegal aliens and offshoring benefit the greedy employer and the rest of the work force are punished for it.  I'm so happy you can be so magnanimous about it.  If you are certifying members in INDIA, PAKISTAN and TIMBUKTU, you should take the name AMERICAN out of the name of the association.  Period.  Full stop.  End.
you DO get an error message BUT

you can just bypass it.  it says that you are not connected so it cannot get rid of your job but just click cancel and when you connect it will get rid of the jobs.  it is the voice files it is trying to dispense.

Good luck with your Grandma!!

Have you figured your error out yet?
nm
Now here's a spelling error!
foreing?
Your post has an error....

If you do not proof your email when I applying for a job, how do we know you will be more careful when transcribing?

Does that include the recruiter proofreading a post on this board?  I see an error.  What gives?  I know you are not an MT, but can you find your own error?

I would have to assume that works both ways.  Have a great day!

That's not the only problem they have. I get more error
messages and downtime from that crappy program than I spend working. Nothing is user friendly and its always one excuse after another why it can't be fixed.
that would be **** chained*** error n/m
n
My math error, sorry. sm

But it is not for me, I don't want to do 2000 lines a day, 250 lines an hour,  for 7.5/lines for $150. bucks.  Burn out.  Nobody should have to work like that to make a living not with the junk dictation.

but ya all go ahead..

If the error changes meaning of the report
Because that's dangerous. It should be something that almost never happens though.
Sorry, error made here and I meant to say
it was NOT as much as I first thought. Sorry :)
QA error values survey...
I am just curious and trying to get a randomized answer regarding error values when an editor/QA/QC audits reports.  For example:  Major medical error has what point value, minor English error has what point value, etc.  Also, if you don't mind stating what company this is or was for? If you would rather email me, you are more than welcome.
Subtle way of correcting her error. I like that.
nm
The e-mail I got didn't say anything about an error. If
there was an error why not just say so and tell us what it is and put our mind at ease.   The email Thursday assuring us the money would be in our accounts by the end of the day or checks overnighted to us shouldn't have been sent when they know it wasn't going to happen.  Not e-mailing us first thing Friday to tell us what was going on didn't help things.  I'm fairly new so I'm not in panic mode yet, but then my bills are paid and my cabinets are stocked.  I do think the situation has been handled poorly and for top management not to address the situation is irresponsible.
Mine didn't say error either
This is the part that is so unsettling for me too.  And the fact that the human resource/payroll person doesn't even know what is going on and the fact they will not let her know what is going on is what is unsettling for me.  If they would just come right out and let us know what the heck is going on, then I would be a little more at ease.  But, no one is saying ANYTHING.  However, supposedly the money is there.......
I guess it depends on what your error was.
x
Yes, they do. So sorry to have made an error and forced you to have (sm)
to take your time to correct those of us who are not perfect.

If one dares to point out an error a QA
made, one might just quit because she will make your life really nasty, especially when she's the supervisor's friend.
And this does not only apply to Axolotl. It happens everywhere.
This was in ERROR-was referring to Trans Tech!
This post below was in error. I thought you were referring to Transtech - all of the same applies, however, great company (Trans Tech) pay on time, etc etc:)
She didn't make 1 spelling error that I can see.
nm
Not the Op, but do you not see a simple grammatical error in your post? nm
.
It all depends on the percentage of the error assessed.
I have worked for a couple of companies who charge an extremely high amount of points for punctuation errors.  If this is the case, one can definitely dip into the 80s with punctuation errors.
That is heard, not heart. Must be a subliminal error!
nm
YES it requires more, well-know 50% med. error rate in hospitals nm,
. We have much more to know and keeping educating across the board than most medical people as we cross across ALLL medical/surgical specialities and related disorders/meds/products etc that go with them
Must have typed too much, lots of spaces taken out. I'm not error-ridden, what's up w/that? nm

Relates to a posting below; correcting a spelling error n/m

ERROR: 1.60 PER MINUTE OF TRANSCRIPTION, HOWEVER, HAVE THE TIME SPENT WAS PASTING

Just found out I have to buy error/omission insurance to remain IC. So long MDI.

Geez, that was a sloppy, error-ridden post on my part. Yikes, sorry...nm
