Traveling MT.. Sage St. Staffing

Anyone familiar with this new company?  They have ad posted today.  It sounds enteresting and I am enticed by the idea of a change in the new year!

Do they have any accounts in South Florida?
xx
hi SCMT - I'm in South Florida...sm

where we have many Jewish doctors and so for us MTs, it slows up in September with Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur....so for 10 days it's slow for us in September and/or October, depending on when those 2 holidays fall...this year it came early.....some years it falls in October....and before, in the 1980s and 90s - in SOUTH Florida...we used to have a *season* where the snowbirds would come after the Jewish Holidays and stay right thru Easter and/or Passover in April-May......so we used to be swamped from January through May.  For example, Chanuka is December 4th - that is very early.  My Dad used to tell me every 7 years it comes at the same time as Christmas and I suppose this is the year.

However, we have no *season* any longer, not really - we have tourists all year round and it got real busy here......traffic wise...all year round...Europeans come in the hot, hot summer (prices are cheaper to come here then) and we should be a lot busier than we seem to be.

But for me, I'm use to the slow times.........A week from today is Thanksgiving....the stores to buy to eat for Thanksgiving are packed already....and people are getting into the *spirit* of the upcoming seasonal holidays....

Of course, things change and nothing is etched in stone but I've been in this state nearly 30 years and my family 40+ years and I've been watching this field since 1980....

Have a GREAT holiday season!!

Zylomed South Florida sm
Platforms are MTWorld and Emdat InScribe. Pretty friendly overall, although I don't like Emdat too well.

They assign everyone as an account exclusive and you get the same doctors over and over again. IT is great if you need it, but if they dictate 10 jobs or 150 jobs, the TAT is the same and they won't have back up if you can't finish it. Some managers are good, one is excellent and the rest are not really MTs. QA people are pretty good though and the MT manager is a nice lady.
I sent a resume, I am not from South Florida, sm
and I have not received an e-mail or phone call. I do not recall seeing only South Florida resident applicants need apply in your ad. Is this only for Florida residents?

I have a valid e-mail address, am a real MT with 25 years experience, and never received a response. What's up with that?.
Zylomed South Florida is transitioning to it. nm

Any updated info on...Transcription South Inc in Florida? TIA

Anybody know anything about South Medical Transcription out of South Carolina?
TIA!
sage advice, sirpercy
;;;
putting aside the other's sage advice based on

their own personal experiences and putting aside George's opinion that we are all misinformed, you need to take care of yourself.  I couldn't go 2 days without the company I commit my time to not sending work to me, much less one month!  How would I explain that to the mortgage company?  Yeah, I was just going to go ahead and wait it out.  Say, could you just not expect a payment from me until I hear from Sten-Tel?  Okie Dokie then!  Great!

All kidding aside, take care of yourself.  If they don't care about you or even taking care of their own business, it is the wrong place for you.  You're in this to make money, right?  I don't know if you are a newbie or experienced but if you want to earn money, there are other places to go.

You know, you could take somebody off the street
and that person would be doing the best they could possibly do. They wouldn't need QA? So someone who has been around for 30 years, and has been QA'd by the supreme QA, and now is doing the best they can possibly do...so what? They still make mistakes.  That's what QA is for.  Maybe the best they can possibly do just isn't good enough.  Maybe they haven't instituted the changes that have come along.  Maybe they are slipping.  I would assume that for the most part we all do the best we can possibly do, but from newbie to old-timer, doing the best we can do doesn't excuse us from having our work checked out from time to time.
7% a 2-way street
What is the percentage of reports that are exceptionally difficult, dictated by ESL, fast-talking dictators.  Less than 7%??   Otherwise, if they want you to keep your QA submissions to below 7%, then they are giving you permission to guess, which is dangerous.  It doesn't make any sense.
I think that it's a two way street, after all see message
when you are dealing with employers in this field you know relatively little about them.  You don't even know what wages you will be earning when you accept work from them.  There are so many factors, such as how they count lines and the quality of the work you will be getting.  I know relatively little about this company and they wish to know everything about me it seems--my work history, my abilities transcribing abilities (which I had taken two tests) and now they want to get inside my mind.  I'm sorry but that's just too rude.  I have received form letters from them that are just probably a standard they send to everyone.  They have never called me, just sent me generic letters to take their tests.  I called and spoke to a person for a few minutes and that was it.
It's a two-way street, in my opinion
When I need to flex, my employer cheerfully accomodates my every request.

In reciprocation, I cheerfully accommodate my employer on the few occasions I'm asked to do so.

As in all things in life, we get as good as we give, IMO.
They count people in the street
Nothing is going to change until Americans put down the remote and put on their walking shoes.

It's the only thing that really gets their attention: Peaceful people in the street.
I once saw an Indian error where he/she changed the name of a famous street
which was mentioned in a report, just because he/she didn't realize it was a street name. The Indian MT changed it to say something real romantic and inaccurate, like The patient was on the street where the lovely sun sets. It took me just a moment to realize from the context that the dictator just mentioned the street name, Sunset Blvd. No way an American would change that!
But she had time to email pics of deer she saw on her street nm

Over-staffing....
Has it ever occurred to any seasoned/dedicated Transcriptionist that over-staffing is really a non-entity, due specifically to other MTs not doing their job?  I used to be angry when workload was low and think over-staffing, but now I am having to step foot in the company's shoes and realize that this is due to them having slackers!  They do have a commitment to their clients....we all have to realize this...but in order to keep the slacker employees, they just hire a few extra for the account...I don't know, I am pretty hiped up about speech recognition jamming my lines too....
Wall Street Journal article, October 2004
A friend sent this to me. UCSF heard from an overseas MT who had not been paid that if she did not receive the $$ owed her she would publish the reports on the internet. There was a lot of followup to this which I will not go into here, but why wouldn't this sort of thing still be possible.

Later that year there was a report of a group of MTs in Bangladesh who tried to force a change in their local management by threatening to make transcribed documents public.

After that California was supposedly looking at a bill to disallow sending confidential medical reports overseas as they are not bound by HIPPA. Never heard what came of that.

I still tell these stories to anyone considering sending work abroad. I just wish some of them overseas would be stupid enough to actually pull a few stunts like that and then see how much work we lose.
Staffing for Focus
AccuStat Carolinas assists Focus Infomatics for staffing for US MTs for their accounts when they need help. Focus has offshore on their own. I am a US MT and work with AccuStat on a Focus account and all is great!!!
They have a new account they are staffing

24/7, Yes; Full Staffing, No.
I started my long-lived career in-house, initially as an LPN and then shifting to transcription. As a nurse, we did not work every weekend. We had a rotation schedule that provided adequate coverage and no one, except those that wanted to, was stuck working every weekend.

When I shifted to transcription in the same hospital, no one except the willing had to work every weekend (weekend coverage was the primary reason the hospital hired part-time). It was set up so that each Transcriptionist worked one weekend every 6 weeks. Despite the fact that it is open 24/7, not all departments are open 24/7. ORs are typically closed except for emergencies, ditto with radiology, clinical services, and the sundry labs (CV, EEG, etc.). There was no need for a full compliment of transcriptionists then, and forced weekend work is just MTSOs creating a need rather than fulfilling one.

Most of us do this job because of the convenience, and we do appreciate that. However, because of the new rules requiring weekends and 16 hours a day (including weekends) sitting at our desks to snag each report as it rolls in to make the same wage we were getting 20 years ago, it's losing a lot of that, and those that are willing to just shrug it off are part of the reason it has gotten so bad. And, since you don't walk in my shoes, don't tell us to get a new job. With the responsibilities some of us have added to the crapper today's economy is in, doing so is not quite the snap your rose-colored glasses tell you it is.
K-Force Staffing.......PSM
Hi! Any new reports on K-Force staffing. I am currently working and reasonably happy, but I received a call out of the blue on an old resume that was banked on Yahoo, and a lady called me, very interested, just the right candidate for immediate full-time radiology position, the whole 9 yards. BUT I have read several older posts from 2005-6 where there were negative things said. Anyone currently working for this company, what is the scoop, I would really, really appreciate it so very much, don't need to make a bad move at this stage of the game!!!!
If you email me, I will help. I am helping with staffing a few of the sm
new accounts. Are you clinic or HIM or rad? There are at least 2 new accounts of each.
I'm not management - major staffing changes and

growth just in the last week alone - all for the better.  Just be patient and it'll be worth your while.   You won't be disappointed.     I'd give it another day or two and call them just to follow up.

Keystrokes is the best so far in my long and varied career!

less staffing all around the hospitals is the norm...
i have siblings in nursing and radiology departments and it's cut, cut, cut = dangerous patient care.
Landmark staffing? Not an MT company. nm
.
TAT and staffing practices (do they overhire to make TAT?) Also...
is the work routed to you or is it first in/first out. You should be able to plug in and have at it, as much of it as you can do at your own pace, and whatever doctor (ESL or not) comes up, rather than have someone select for you and decide when your 'Q' will run out. Those practices will hold you back from making and working at your full potential.
I love the part where he says we have inadequate staffing in this country!
That makes me so mad - how many of us are sitting here waiting on work every day and he says we have inadequate staffing? That is BU!!$HIT!

Our only hope lies in the facilities staffing MTs direct. SM
Win/win. They save a ton even if they pay us more per line which in turn puts us back in the bladk. We get affordable health coverage and labor laws.

SIMPLE AS THAT

T South
Sold to Indians.  Many people have left them.  Terrible VA account.
About the South...
I live in the south, but I REFUSE to defend any MTSO that would treat anyone like that. I do think you have a point, however, about a company located in the south. Employment wages are definitely lower here. However, the company that offered me 7.5 cpl was in Maryland. I currently work as an IC for a very small company who contracts from the local hospital and I am paid 11 cpl. I was curious what was available out there as an employee, but I'm thinking I will stay right where I am. Something needs to be done. They are taking advantage of the MTs and it's time to fight back.
transcription south inc in FL

Does anyone have any info on this comp? Is pay on time?? Any info appreciated.

TSI Transcription South
Yes, I have worked for them. Nice people but they overhire.
Transcription South
What do you want to know? They overhire like a lot of companies, but for the most part they're o.k. They pay on time and their benefits are good.

MD-IT South Bend Indiana
Anyone know anything about this company?  I have been an in-house Transcriptionist for the past 14 years.  I was just told today that my job is terminated as of 08/31/07.  They are going with MD-IT, and said that this service is interested in employing all four of the in-house transcriptionist.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.
TSSC of South Carolina
Any info regarding this company?  Nothing on the boards and cannot find website.
That settles it ... I will stay in the south and be

completely and utterly happy with my current pay.

why do so many MQ transcriptionists
on the boards seem to be having such a hard time with keeping up their line counts? I am getting ready to send them my paperwork today and I'm getting really nervous. Right now I average anywhere from 1400 lines to 1700 lines, however, I'd like to get that up to 2000 per day....what's the deal with MQ????
MQ Transcriptionists

To the Administrator:

Since MQrs are practically occupying the whole main board,  and it seems this company has the most transcriptionists in the MT business, may I suggest that an MQrs Board be set up for MQ so as not to waste the time of MTs who would like to be informed of other matters on said board.

We, who are not MQrs would like to know more of other MTs' problems with other companies and not only with MQ.

Thanks,

jgl

Some of these transcriptionists are

so ignorant. They don't read anything other than MT stars. They constantly bitch and moan about MT companies that offshore but they're typing on a computer that was made by someone in a foreign country...they have a ragedy imported vehicle sitting in the driveway......they have a Japanese vacuum cleaner, etc...  Yet you come to this board and state how dirty and poor these people are.

Intelligence says a whole lot about a person no matter what part of the globe they live in. All of the offshore MT's who work for the company I QA for are college educated (4 year degrees). They may be poor but they are doing everyting they can to make a better life for themselves. They are not lazy. They don't call in sick every other Friday. They are dependable. They are loyal to their employer.  They would NEVER come to MTstars or any other forum and berate and belittle their employer like many of you do. Most of you people don't know what the word loyalty means.

Offshoring is nothing new. It has been done for years and will continue to be done. Nearly everytime you purchase an electronic item you are supporting offshoring.  You're just too stupid to realize it. You are no different than the MTSO's who offshore. The MTSO's who offshore are looking for the same thing you are when you buy an import-QUALITY.
