I started 6 months ago and am very happy. sm
I started with one account that was busy and still have a lot of work. I have a back-up account but have never worked it as my primary is very busy. If you like radiology, this is the place to go from everything I hear. I transcribe the Big 4 and really enjoy my account.

My pay is good and on time thanks to direct deposit. I had to wait a few weeks for IDs but it was worth the wait!
I started with MedScribe about 6 months ago
I have an acute care account that I work on and also do a little ER for a secondary account.  I do work one weekend day but they have kept me in work and pay is every other Friday, direct deposit.  That is a big plus from where I came from.  Good luck to you.  Karen.
I am not on Meditech and I started at 0.09 ten months ago. sm
Not all of their accounts are Meditech but some are. I actually want a Meditech account as I am used to it and can move fast.
Started at MedScribe 3 months
I was attracted to the sign-on bonus, which is nice because they pay it $100 a pay period so I did not have to wait for 6 months or a year.  I like my super and have plenty of work, I use InstaText and that converted just fine.  I did not need the insurance but it is a nice package, they pay every two weeks by direct deposit.  I have not heard of the other company you mentioned but I did come from a VERY large company and it is nice working for a smaller one, first name basis is a change.  Good luck to you.
Started 2 months ago at MedScribe
Acute care starts at 8 and they have 2 incentive levels which adds another 3/4. That is for employee status with healthcare. Benefits are affordable (Aetna) and they pay by DD every 2 weeks. I have always had work and my team leader is very nice, she came from MW. The platform is Word based and I have all of my expander. After I applied I started in about 5 days. They have been very nice and I can honestly say, so far so good. Glad I left my rather large company to work for a smaller one, it's nice to be called by my first name for a change. Leanne.
I have been on there since it started 4 months ago and this is the first time.
They are freaking out because the doctors can still dictate!!!
But that only started 2 months ago and besides that, remember
you said I was management. I loved VR from the very start, before the other money. I can work part time only and make over 20$ per hour. No sweat. That sure is not what others are saying about minimum wage. What the heck are they talking about. Lack of experience I guess.
I just started working about 3 months ago
that requires 1 weekend day every week. I didn't think it would be so bad, but I don't like it at all. I realize that the medical field is a 24/7 profession, but I would rather rotate weekends like we did when I worked as a nurse. Better yet, if companies offered a weekend differential, they could probably find enough part-timers who want to work just weekends; wouldn't that be nice. Oh well, so much for dreaming.
I started at amphion a couple of months ago
and I love it! I stay on the same account and never run out of work. They are BEGGING for overtime, which they do pay extra for. The people are so nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend trying them out. Good luck.
I started 6 months ago and enjoy my account
I am on an acute care hospital and they have me backed up to ER.  They just mentioned starting a new hospital, I guess a big one, in about a month so I know they will be hiring.  So far so good.  Pay is every other Friday by direct deposit so it is on time.
You can buy XP from Dell. I started with a different company about 2 months ago and sm
had to buy a new Dell as Vista did not work for them either. Most of the companies do not take Vista. It just doesn't work with everything yet.

SS has a lot of new accounts that have just started and more starting over the next few months. sm
As far as I know, SS is totally US based (going by what I was told). They are offering OT right now for us MTs. I am enjoying it certainly and I have been here for a couple of years.
Oh my gosh yes! I started at a company about 6 months ago,

starting out right out of the gate producing around 2200-2500 lines in 6 hours, best I have EVER done since leaving my local clinic and going with a huge company.  However, it seems that once the honeymoon was over, things started to change and now, on the same dictators, I barely get 1600 lines in a day.  It is a Word-based program and in the beginning I had no problems with the programs opening or typing in them and now they seem to freeze all of the time which, of course, slows my production tremendously.  I cannot figure out if it is my computer or something that they have in the program to keep you from doing over a certain amount in a day, which I am not sure why they would.

There are a lot of people who do and it seems that most love working there. I started 6 months ago
and have no complaints at all. It is refreshing to work for a company that treats employees as individuals, not just a number. I also like that they do not send work offshore and that I only have one main account. I do have 2 back-up accounts, but have never worked on them after training. I am lucky that my main account is very busy, too busy most of the time!
Took a long time for me. They called after I had accepted and started another job, so about 2 months
?
I started there at the beginning of this year, and..
have had no problems whatsoever. Never had to call even once about a late paycheck. I have the schedule that they gave me sitting in front of me right now. It gives all of the pay periods through 12/31/05, and the exact date that the check will be deposited in the bank. It has never been late; always on time. You can even go online a few days before your scheduled deposit, and see the amount that is going to be deposited on pay day. Are you sure she worked for the same company?
Started 1 year ago, very happy
I enjoy my account and my team leader is very nice.  The benefits are affordable, they use United Healthcare, and pay is every other Friday by direct deposit.  The software is easy to learn and use and my Expander was compatible.  Hope that may help, good luck to you.
Anyone who started with CyMed this year still with them? What do you like about them? nm

I started at Medware 1 year ago
They have been a good company to work for.  I have plenty of work in my primary account, and have gone to my secondary on occasion.  I like my team leader and also having direct deposit, something that is way better than the checks I used to wait forever on at my old service.  Medware may not be for everyone but I have enjoyed everyone from tech support to training to my team leader.
I started at Medware 1 year ago
They are a good company and have work.  I started out PT as I worked out my notice and then went full time.  They have accounts that use EXText and I love that software, easy to make a good line count.  I like being paid by direct deposit and the health insurance is about $17 a week, so that seemed affordable to me.  Good luck to you.
Started one year ago and like MedScribe
They have some very nice people and I like my account.  I am an employee because I need healthcare benefits.  I also like the direct deposit, that was a big change from where I came from.  All in all I think they are a good company, I needed steady work and pay coming in to support myself.  HTH.
I started as an employee a year ago
They give you a 12 hour window to work within so I like that flexibility.  The other big factor that made a difference for me was the direct deposit, I was an IC at another company and was looking for employee with insurance.  The insurance is with Aetna and it is a great plan, but as with good insurance it costs about $40 per week.  But it is a PPO with a low deduct and I can also use my prescription card when I have to.  I compared at the time and it seemed to be about as much as what other companies offered but a better plan.  They are nice people to work with and I stay busy, that helps too.  Good luck in your search.
she worked there for two months - last year
By the time her last check arrived it was another two months after she had sent the equipment back. She would call everyday and get a different response as to why she still hadn't gotten a check for her first two weeks. She wasn't angry or about it, just frustrated because she thought working at home would be a godsend, but in this case it wasn't. It was unfortunate that she did not try other services.
Well, I worked for them for about 6 months last year.
It was not a terrible experience, but it was not a wonderful experience.  Everything about them was just mediocre.   Not much to say, really.  Maybe that's why there aren't many comments.
Once people started to leave last year
and the company was up for sale and more office employees started to leave, we should have seen it coming. All the red flags were present I just didn't want to believe it..such a sad day..I wonder if anyone will work this week?
If you had asked this a year ago, I might have said that I was not happy and actually started sm
to look for another job. I have seen really big changes in a lot of areas since then, the biggest one being communication. I would not even consider leaving now. I have been with them for almost 3 years.
I know of 2 MTs from reputable schools who started w/o the 2 year exp. nm
.
I was started at 8.5 and given a raise after a year to 9 cents sm
I know that I hired on at a time when they were desperate and I have many years of experience, hence the more than usual. I was also an IC.

I have not heard of anyone else getting a raise, however. Employees were given a line count incentive and told if they wanted more money to work more. ICs had no such luck. They are management top heavy with a team leader and at least 1 QA for each team, 6 teams at the moment. They also have an MT manager, an IT manager with 4 people under him, and 6 people to go after new accounts (few new accounts while I was there), an office manager and 2 or 3 people who do payroll and human resources. LOADS of support people means the MTs who actually do the work get paid less. Keep in mind, they only have about 225 to 250 MTs at any given time. Top heavy.

Where I work now, we have an office staff of 7 and about 13 other support people for 350+ MTs. You'd think I'd have problems getting questions or problems solved and I don't. They are right there 24/7. Result? We get paid more per line.

I don't know, Zylo was a great place when I was there and has steadily gone to pot over the past 6 to 9 months.
HA! First year made $30,000, that is working six months SM
for hospital and the next six months for small MT office with a very big account. Oh, those were the days!
I tested last year. The dates of dictation were from months before, so I don't think there's a
s
9 months and it is not worth staying a year to get the BIG .002 cent raise.
Working for OSi will burn you out quick!
They must have increased their
referral bonuses again.
You don't take into account an increased

productivity.  I know you don't know what it will be yet, but it will at least go up some from what it is now.   Probably initially there will be a loss of income as you learn the platform, but as long as there is enough work there is the potential for you to increase your lines.

Don't forget that the increased prices from this will
You have to think hard before shooting yourself in the foot! Can you really afford the injury?!

Doctors know EXACTLY what is going on. So do government officials - we all do.

WE are part of the problem - wanting lower priced healthcare, low priced insurance but not want to care one hoot about our health -- making gluttons of ourselves, not exercising, smoking, diabetes, heart disease, all the other crap people do to themselves (not to mention things that cannot be avoided). We don't want to pay so they find ways to lower cost and make it more affordable to ALL of us.

It will hurt us more in the long run by raising costs of healthcare and insurance to the point no one can afford it except the wealthy. Don't start with the line that only the wealthy can afford insurance and care now. Bull. It's a matter of priority...perhaps people can do without the brand new car or the satellite dish or all the video games, etc., and spend a little on insurance protection, etc.

It's NOT just offshoring. It is ALL of us. Every single one of us contribute to this picture one way or another.

meant increased line lengths.

They must be advertising increased referral bonuses again.

If it was the same one, it was because they increased work. Our op note accounts have been set for
I know because I am on the HIM Department management team, not just making general comments.

I talk to a lot of MTs who like Meditech, so I am going to disagree on that one but let's just agree to disagree. It is definitely a preference thing.

There are over 50 HIM accounts and more coming. HIM is catching up to Radiology fast at Keystrokes and it does not appear to have an end to the growth in sight. I am glad to be part of the excitement!
I quit my job when they increased our production rate...
by 10%, from 10 minutes of dictation equals one hour of work to 11 minutes of dictation equals one hour of work. Radiology went from 12 reports equals an hour of work to 16 reports equals an hour of work, a whopping 33% increase. The medical increase was not all that bad, I guess, but the senior Transcriptionist had a bad habit of assigning work to me by physician, what I would call programmed cherry-picking, and it goes without saying that the ones she assigned to me were the ones she wanted to avoid. Eight hours of work usually averaged about 1000 lines and I earned $14.69/hour or $30K annually. They had given us an 8% market increase based on prevailing local wages in July of 2006, because they wanted to be the preferred employer in the area, then in October of 2007 increased the production rate for medical by 10% and radiology by 33%. We went from being underpaid to underworked in the course of 15 months.
not to me, same skill req. look at the paycut.& increased lines
Need to get out your calculator. Ask what is their production minimum and time to accomplish before being let go.

2000 lines a day, 250 lines an hour --listening/editing/fixing

at 4.5/ln
$90 a day
divide 8 hours is= $11.25hr.

10,000 lines a week=$450.

I needed to get a physical and go through orientation at the hospital which is only given two times per month. This is a 900-bed hospital, so it cannot be an unusual process. MQ took 2 weeks. KS took 1 week. SoftScript never got me started even after repeated calls and emails.

I have only been with KS for 9 months but would never put them in the same catagory as the others you mentioned. They are the best company I have worked for, and unfortunately, I have bounced around a little in the last 5 years.

TransTech and low/no work for months and months _ don't think there are continous holidays LOL

This HORRIBLE low/no work situation has been going on at TT for almost a year now.  You can't convince me it is due to Memorial Day.  Are holidays now assigned in this world to being daily.

That is an excuse these companies use in these no work situations, but it is due to their OVERHIRING.  Holidays just come on a daily basis, but LOW WORK/NO WORK is happening and has happened going on a year now at TransTech.  Always asking to flex into the middle of the night, EVERY weekend, etc.

The TT mgmt checks are NEVER affected, tho, so they can continue to HIRE EVERY MT who gives them a call, and create a NO WORK situation for all of us.  The newbie MT's are cheering at first, but then realize that it hit them in the paycheck, too, and very soon it did!!!!!!!

my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

My company has been low on work for months and months..sm
Tired of getting the same ol' message that things will pick up.  I remember the days of bonuses, making money and being able to pay my bills!  I am also wondering what is going with these companies not having work.  Is everybody sending work overseas?
Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)
x
Last year $36K part time, going to make more this year full time BUT sm

I AGREE it IS getting harder to make money.  I used to make $24 very part time 10 years ago and now...well it is Word and platforms versus WP5.1.  I got 7.5 cents a byte line then and I get 9.5 cents a character line now.  That IS a huge different in point of fact.

OH I WANT MY WORDPERFECT 5.1 BACK!!!!! Bwaaah!

and they started
you at 9.5 cents per line???
Well let's see, I started my day
and have sat here all day to only have 60 some reports! Sad but true. I have 2 other PT jobs for this very reason. I only stay because when the work is there, the money is good. If it does not pick back up soon, I'm gone!
