Had the same happen here, heard the same thing, good references and good ....sm
job record will get you better $$$ if you are willing to promote yourself, search like crazy, talk to everyone, etc., but I have never been paid a cent more for CMT, what a waste, and all the years I paid my dues to AAMT, what a joke, they did NOTHING to better our field, just took the money for better conventions, as far as I can see.
I would recommend a PT job. I left Webmedx because
I was having to take money out of savings to pay bills.  Some days I got 4 reports during my 8 hour shift.  I would work my weekends to try and make-up lines and I would work 12-14 hours/day.  I worked they schedule they told me I needed to work.  I was okay with it at first, but then they hired people to work Friday-Monday only and there was not enough work on my weekends to come anywhere close to making up lines.   They didn't tell me when I was hired (or anyone else on the account) that it was just an overflow account.  I figured out my looking at the past reports that they weren't getting all the work.   I stuck it out 4 months, but finally left when it became apparent that they weren't a bit concerned that I wasn't making lines.  I got 2 more accounts and managed to get a few more lines in, but neither account had enough work to make up the difference.  There were always a few accounts that had lots of OT, several of them were difficult accounts.  I even asked to work on one of them and was told I couldn't work on it as a secondary account.   There have been lots of complaints lately about lack of work, although there area always those who saw they have plenty of work.  It doesn't matter if they do if you don't, unless they are going to pay your bills for you.
Been there, done that (QA for Webmedx) and wouldn't recommend it. nm

I took Webmedx's course, highly recommend it...
I've been an MT for almost 25 years, but was still quite nervous about the exam. The course helped to keep my attention focused on the task at hand, helped to keep me studying faithfully for the duration of the course until I took the exam. I tend to put things off until the last minute, so the weekly webinars & study materials were invaluable in helping me to study consistently and to stay focused on my goal. Also, I learned a lot! The CMT Review Guide showed me my weak areas, but I concentrated my study time on the Language of Medicine, the 2nd ed. BOS, and an anatomy & physiology text. Also read Human Diseases by John H. Dirckx, MD, but I'm not sure that was very helpful. In the Webmedx prep classes, you'll get a lot of very helpful information & handouts, and the review questions will force you into the books!
Does anyone recommend a pretty good company that is good to work for, pay always on time and plenty
of work.  I know that is asking a lot, but just curious?
I could not in good faith recommend SS

to even my worst enemy.   I was in QA, had some of the worst MTs because they could not get and keep good MTs and a warm body was better than nobody.  Management changed frequently.  The CEO was so slimy that I felt like I needed a shower after talking with him.  I can't remember her position, but she was one step above QA manager would send out e-mails with new terms/medications and they would be incorrect.  I've been in this business for 22 years.  I do about 85% ESL.  I can do some of the worst ESLs (don't like to, but I can), but the accounts I had were beyond horrendous.  Between the horrible dictators and the sound quality there wasn't enough money to make me stay.   They still call me about every 6 months and ask me to come back.  Only if my kids were going hungry would I do that and I think I would try prostitution first.  I believe in producing a quality product, but I also have bills to pay and I have a life outside of work.  I was not willing to work 12+ hours a day and be stressed out every day over the crappy work.   There is so much better out there.  Unfortunately there aren't a lot of jobs available currently with the mergers, VR, and offshore work. SS is always hiring and there is a reason for that.  I can assure you it isn't because they are getting a lot of new accounts.

If you spend time going through the archives you'll see posts where MTs didn't listen to the negative posts and accepted positions, only to come back within a month or so and say that all the negative stuff was absolutely true and they would apologize for not listening to us.

After that idiot that came on saying how they fired us because we weren't good enough, etc. I put SS lower on the list than they already were, which was hard to do when they were already at the bottom.  That person was not there when I was, did not know who I was, did not know what position I held and anything they said was because they evidently weren't taking their meds and there was no shred of truth to it.  This person attacked anyone who said anything negative about SS, not just me.  I understand that person is no longer there though.

Why do so many of you recommend Amphion? Good points, please? Thx. nm

Can anyone recommend a good reference book
for radiology. I just started on a rad account in training. I love it so far but would like a good radiology terminology book that especially contains terms for MRIs and CT scans. ALso, can anyone tell me what the average rate is per report for radiology? Thanks!
I recommend Keystrokes also, good experience with them.

Know WedMedx,: Recommend. Good company. SM
Hi, Looking. Yes, you have to log in and out--good structure for people who'd love to earn more money if only they could keep their hands clicking. Very nice incentive scale for those who do. Good medical. Rest of benefit package slim, made up for by good earnings IMO.

Platform getting genuinely good now and continually improving; the old slowness people complains about seems to be gone.

Lots of ESL but simply not a problem for pros once familiar with dictators. Assigned accounts so you can get fast. Need more than one as they can empty out during those hours when a lot of people want to work.

Genuinely nice company to work for. Excellent support in a variety of areas. Very helpful education programs and groups to help develop skill levels, both medical knowledge and production. Study groups and monetary assistance getting certification, and more.

BTW, if you sign on, you now get to be called a Medical Content Specialist. Not sure what that means yet, but I'm newly impressed with myself anyway.

Bottom line: Good place for good workers.
Can someone recommend a good text expansion program? Thanks!

Webmedx hires some ICs. Good company. So sorry for your loss. Good luck!

TransTech for many reasons, good pay, stable company, good benefits
and flexible.
I have looked around the last 6 months and have found nothing better. Have turned down numerous jobs, and have finally decided to stay put. The better insurance plans were announced and even moreso than ever, I am staying put, and my paycheck is happy about that because it is getting better every day. Good luck to you.

Webmedx versus Transtech (sm)
I tested with both and have been offered positions with both. Seeing good and bad for Webmedx, but a lot of good for Transtech. Anyone care to share info on either?

Thanks!
Are you talking about WebMedX or TransTech? And when
nm
TransTech and Webmedx question

Are you limited to only working 40 hours a week or can you work as many hours as you want?

P.

Axolotl, TransTech, WEBMEDX
Good luck :)
Worked for both Webmedx and Transtech sm
Webmedx really has a nice benefits package and shift differential working third shift 2.00 an hour from 12 a to 6 a and 1.00 an hourfrom 6p to 12 a. the platform really is slow though, some have problems and some don't, depends on CPU processing speed and internet connection. I had 5 megabyte speed so did not notice much issues except when they were low on work. But in order to qualify for bonus you have to average 150 LPH for the payperiod.

Transtech has good bonuses, has different options for benefits, and pay up to 40.00 for you ISP depending on what you pay per month, has a QA bonus for reports less than 10% sent to QA, shift differential--- these are 0.0025 to 0.005 per line depending 2nd or 3rd shift. I think the platform is much faster. You are working with Word interface ExText. You can see 3 jobs at a time, Webmedx you can't.

Webmedx has a timeclock and Transtech has a timesheet but are more for lines per day and pay period then actual lines per hour. Transtech expects you to work your full shift though regardless if you reach your lines in half the time.

Hope that helps. I liked Webmedx benefits package, but I liked working with less pressure for lines produced per hour. I feel my reports have better quality that way.
webmedx vs transtech medical
webmedx or Transtech medical input please.

I really would appreciate some input on these 2 places. I appreciated all the in input on Precyse. After working at Spheris going to another outsource company is terrifying, but see the writing on the wall with the local hospital I am working for now. Need something to get me to retirement in 4 years. TIA
Webmedx and TransTech, Can't decide
I have been offered jobs with both companies, and would love to hear the good and bad of each if anyone has anything to offer.
I can't speak for Webmedx but Transtech
Great everything

Who's best all around company; Transolutions, Spheris, Webmedx,Transtech?
nm
I worked part-time for Webmedx and I work FT for TransTech. sm

My vote would be for TransTech, although Webmedx is not bad.  Since I was only part-time, I did not receive any benefits, but from what I recall, they did seem to have a nice benefit package.  My main complaint was that I just never could get my lines per hour up to where they have been at other companies.  Normally, I average around 300 lines per hour, but even with totally focusing and typing as fast as I could, I never could get past 250-260 lines per hour at Webmedx.  Their incentive pay is based on lines per hour that you type, not total lines per pay period, so it did make a difference in my pay.  I also did not like the fact that I had to use their computer.  I like using my own computer, and also like the flexibility of being able to load the program on my laptop so if I have to be away from home, I can still work if I need to.

I have seen negative posts about TT, but I have no complaints with them.  My line counts are fair.  The people in management are absolutely some of the most caring people I have ever met.  The work generally is plentiful, and I have a backup account.  The incentive tiers are easy to attain, and the benefits are pretty good, I think, and not outlandishly priced.

Obviously, not every company is a good fit for everyone.  I hope you find just exactly what is best for you -- good luck!

TransTech good or bad?

Good, bad or ugly about Webmedx??? NM

Webmedx good reviews

I thought they were OK too but maybe not...the posts I read in the archives said they paid well..but guess I'll look elsewhere

WEBMEDX is a good company
Thanks...I'll leave it in the mix before I decide what to do!
what makes webmedx good?
x
Webmedx does, and good company n/m
:)
Good benefits at Webmedx - sm
medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance; PTO and holidays. Lots of work, you use their equipment. ESL - that may be more of an issue. But it doesn't hurt to find out what is open at this time. Good luck to you. I was outsourced from my hospital job about 10 years ago and feel lucky to have ended up at Webmedx.
Webmedx is not horrible but not good either.

References

They do check past references before an offer of employment is issued.  Don't worry though, it doesn't take them long to get back to you.  I'm sure you are as good as hired.

References
When they said they were not giving references, I took it to mean they would not verify employment. I think that in the common jargon, that could be defined as a reference. The bigger question to ask is this: Why are they refusing to do so? Don't they at least owe this much to the people they shafted?
As far as the references go...
Sometimes you can look in your reference materials for ages and not find what you are looking for.  If you have spelling way off, for example, it can be nearly impossible to find.  Also, I can't speak for others but I continue to look while waiting for an answer to a question on the word board.  I think it is great that we can work together.  In all seriousness in an office setting people help each other all of the time.  Most MTs are just not sitting in an office an able to ask the person next to them so a board like this is a good setting to do so.
Don't need references
Just tell a potential employer that you cannot risk losing your job, but can prove experience (1099, pay stubs etc.)

Most MTSOs just want to know if you can do the job and a good test will show that.

Offer to work part time at first to prove ability - and don't quit until you pass probation.

Don't be an enabler for DL - they can't continue to cheat people if they have no one to cheat.
References
I believe they contain derogatory personal comments that are not even relative to the job.  I think the first reference came from Richmond, VA and every time I change jobs they keep getting that same reference.
References
I think it is illegal particularly if there are a lot of lies, half truths and gross exaggerations which I think is probably the case.
references............
I've had the same situation. You just tell them the situation, send them professional references from those you do know who can vouch for your character, and then move on. That's all you can really do.

That is good $$ but Transtech pays a lot
nm
Any info good or bad in regards to Webmedx radiology
x
Webmedx radiology MTs?? How are they to work for and good pay?

TIA....

Working for WebMedX is a good choice
From the companies available to work for, I would say this is one of the better.  They have really decent benefits, the pay is good, they don't hassle you.  Feedback/QA is great.  I have to say they are one of my favorites that I have worked for and they are very fair to the employees.  (Another good company is Phoenix).
Webmedx is a good company to work (sm)
for.  Good benefits, fair pay.  They give you a 12-hour window to get your work done.  Be forewarned, though, most of their acute care has a GREAT DEAL of ESL dictators.  If ESLs are a problem for you, you might want to consider carefully before accepting a job with them.  QA is the absolute best.  I think my manager is the greatest, don't know about others.
Didn't Webmedx get good reviews here?
I was under the impression they were a-ok? Hmm...
Webmedx offers PPO and good dental. nm

Webmedx is great for me; good benefits, sm
PTO, reasonable insurance cost. Plenty of work, decent platform (although we had some trouble last week but that's rare). I realize one company can't be right for everyone, but Webmedx has been great for me. 8 years and counting.
Webmedx has pretty good benefits sm
The benefits at Webmedx are pretty good. You are eligible for benefits after 90 days. I am paying about $400 per month for a family plan for health, dental, and vision. The coverage is pretty good for general visits and pharmacy, but there is either a $1000 or $2000 deductible (depending on which plan you choose) for hospitalization, after which insurance pays 80% and you pay the rest. There is also a deductible for certain medical supplies. My son is a type 1 diabetic and we have to pay a $1000 deductible for his insulin pump supplies. Not the best insurance that I've ever had, but it is much cheaper than what my husband can get through his work (he would have to pay $1000 per month in premiums for a family plan).
