MDI-MT

I've been with MDI for about a year.  I was very slow when I started out, too, and my liason actually encouraged it.  She said to start out slow with just a couple hundred lines a day and then add 50 lines to it every couple of days.  I'm now up to my commitment of 1000 lines per day fairly easily (when I stay focused).

As for cherrypicking, I personally skipped jobs that were entered into the system incorrectly by the dictator, i.e. operative reports entered as progress notes, and since I'm not cleared for ops, I had to skip them.  Within an hour of skipping these jobs, I was emailed by my liason asking why.  When we skip a job for this reason, we're supposed to email operations to let them know to change these jobs and CC that email to our liason so he/she knows why you skipped it.  I sent the email to operations but forgot to CC my liason.  Of course when I explained that to her and forwarded my previously sent email, she was fine with it.  But, it does support the fact that MDI does not tolerate cherrypicking.

As for the difficult dictators, I had some of them too, and still continue to get some.  If it's a regular dictator that I know I'm going to be encountering frequently, I've asked for samples from that dictator as well as any special things I should know -- standards, etc.  My liason or QA has always sent my requested information.  I pay special attention to the feedback I get on these reports to use later.  As the other poster said, I've found that the more I do a difficult dictator the easier it becomes for me.

Regarding the in-house staff on shared accounts, I have always found quite the opposite to be true -- at least on my account.  The in-house staff seems to take on the harder dictations.

No company is perfect for everyone, but MDI has been a great fit for me.  If you like the general layout of the company, I would suggest you stick it out a little longer.  Maybe ask for samples and definitely check your feedback.
